Make sure there is a good hunger going on before you make this recipe. It's filing, tasty and so easy to make a six year old could do it. I like making the meatballs small so that there's plenty to go around. I make this for potlucks or as an appetizer sometimes and many of my friends have asked me to share the recipe.

HAWAIIN MEATBALLS & WHITE RICE

Meatballs

1     lbs ground beef
¾     cup soft break crumbs
¼     cup milk
2     tablespoons chopped onion
1     egg
1 ½     tsp salt

Combine all ingredients; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into 2 dozen meatballs, (about 1 inch diameter). Heat oven to 375F and bake meatballs for 25 to 30 minutes turning over once. Sauce 2     cups water
1     cup sugar
1     cup vinegar
2     packets or cubes of chicken oxo
4     tablespoons soy sauce
1     medium green pepper, cut into 1 inch pieces
1     can (8oz) pineapple chunks, drained
4     tablespoons each of cornstarch and cold water

Add all ingredients except cornstarch and cold water to a large saucepan. Bring to a boil and lower heat. Add meatballs and simmer for 15 minutes. Mix cornstarch and cold water until well blended. Bring meatball mixture to a boil and gradually add cornstarch mixture while stirring. It should thicken up. Serve immediately on a bed of white rice. Makes 6 servings
