Cooking at its best with Johanne McInnis

Another great favorite, I can remember making these cookies when I was in my teens. As a matter of fact I think I got this recipe from home economics class when I was in grade 9…. All I know is that I kept it for a good reason. They melt in your mouth… Peanut butter cookies

1 cup butter
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour (whole wheat or white)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda

1. Mix first six ingredients until smooth

2. Sift remaining ingredients together. Add to wet mixture. Blend together until dough is even textured.

3. Roll dough into balls about the size of a large walnut and place them about 3 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet and flatten with the back of a fork.

4. Bake at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes.

Makes 4 dozen cookies
