James Bertin

The death of James Bertin of Doyleville occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on December 25, 2016 at the age of 75.

The son of Greta Bertin, James was born in Gravel Hill, NB. on August 09, 1941.

James is survived by his children; Shelley Bertin (Lane) of Gravel Hill, Pamela Bertin (Sherman) of Gravel Hill and Neil Bertin (Anita) of Gravelhill as well as 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. James is also survived by his siblings Jeannette Levesque (Marcel) of McKendrick, NB. Oswald Bertin (Darlene) of Cambridge, Ont. and Hector Bertin (Nicole) of Lorne, NB.

He was pre deceased by his son Sheldon Bertin in June of 2010.

James worked hard in his early years as a woodsman. He started working at the Brunswick Mining and Smelting in Belledune in 1967 and worked there for 19 years. He returned to work as a woodsman until his retirement. James enjoyed the country life of fishing, hunting and the outdoors.

He had a passion for the sport of baseball, hockey and wrestling and his favourite book was the bible as he read it religiously everyday.

James (Dad, Grampy and Brother) will be sadly missed by those who loved him and knew him.

Rose Marie Landry

On Friday, December 30th, 2016 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 86, passed away Mrs. Rose Marie Landry of Campbellton. She was the daughter of the late Lenemé (LeBlanc) and the late Damase Thériault.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Suzanne (Allan Gregoire) of Moncton, Diane (Roger Paradis) of Quebec, Carmelle (Richard Levesque) of Sept–Iles, Nicole (Pierre Guitard) of Campbellton, Cécile (Michel Baillargeon) of Moncton, Paul of Campbellton and Julie (Omer Doucet) of Gatineau; her 14 grandchildren and her 13 great–grandchildren; her sister Madeleine Gamblin of Perth Andover and her sister–in–law Edna Thériault of Nova Scotia also by many nieces, nephews, members of the Landry family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Harvey Landry (1977), her special friend Hector Saucier (2014), her sons: Michel and Pierre, her parents and her brother Alyre Thériault.

Julienne Doucet

The death of Julienne Doucet of Charlo occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the age of 96. Born in Lorne, she was the daughter of the late Francis A. and Ida (LaPointe) Hickey.

Julienne is survived by her Children Claudette Everette of Charlo, Suzanne Doucet of Charlo, Jean Claude of Charlo, Perry of Back Bay; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren as well as her sisters Annie Godin and Zita Carrier.She was predeceased by her husband Albert, son Valmond and many brothers and sisters.

Marina Beulah Valotaire

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on December 31, 2016 at the age of 78, Mrs. Marina Beulah Valotaire, wife of Rheal Valotaire. Born in Dalhousie on August 7, 1938, daughter of the late Alfred Synette and the late Louise (Diotte) Synette.

She is survived by her husband, Rheal A. Valotaire, her two sons Philip Valotaire (Evelyne) of Petit Rocher, NB and Paul Valotaire of Moncton, NB, her daughter Helen Petersen (Joe) of Charlo, NB, her grandchildren Stéphane, Megan, Emily, and Chelsea, great–grandchildren Samuel, Leah, and Alexanne, and her brother Raymond Synette.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Bernadette, and her two brothers Francis (Sonny) and Hector (Lou).

Ronald Fearon

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on December 31, 2016 at the age of 82, Mr. Ronald Fearon of Tide Head. Born in Moncton, NB, on January 29, 1934, son of the late Bonar Fearon and the late Cornelia Murphy.

He worked for N.B.I.P. Company at the Dalhousie Pulp Mill until retirement.

He is survived by his sisters, Carole Underhill and Barb Fearon of Campbellton; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Dickie (Frank); two brothers, Joe (Pauline) and Johnny and a nephew, Harley Underhill.

Lise Leona Parent

Friday, December 23rd, 2016 at her residence in Campbellton, at the age of 48, passed away Lise Leona Parent, wife of Raymond "Joe" Parent. She was the daughter of her adoptive family Mrs. Betty and late Benny Leclair and her biological family late Emerentienne and late Romeo Breton.

Besides her husband, Raymond "Joe", she will be sadly missed by her children: Jonathan, Jessica and Jason; her brothers on the Leclair family: Gerald, David, Jamie, Ronnie, and on the Breton family: Leo, Rose–Aimee, Armand, Linda, Nicole, Joe, Rosanna, Denis, Gisele, Jean–Luc and Fernande also by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her biological parents, her adoptive father, her sister Jacqueline Breton and her brother Jean–Claude Breton.

Lorraine Ancharuk

Lorraine Ancharuk, of Cocagne, New Brunswick passed away unexpectedly while asleep, on Monday, January 9, 2017. Born in Dalhousie, New Brunswick in 1949 to the late Zelda and the late Michael Ancharuk.

Lorraine lived in Darlington for over 40 years and it is there that she raised her three children. Lorraine moved to Moncton over 20 years ago working for Purolator for much of that time. She loved the water and the outdoors. Lorraine enjoyed decorating and making improvements to her home over the years. She liked to knit and cross stitch, often making gifts for her family.

She was very proud of her six grandsons, Quinn 16, Ethan 14, Grayson 13, Preston 9, Channing 4 and Ledger 2. Lorraine leaves behind her children to remember her laughter and playfulness, Tracey (Bruce) Ross of NB, Tammy (Greg) Tocheniuk of AB and Jason (Amie) Russell of PA. Lorraine’s companion of over 20 years, Roger St. Onge, is left to mourn her daily presence as well as many family and friends.

Francis "Frank" Dickie

Francis "Frank" Dickie of Lanark, Ontario, formally of Saint John, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully at Rosebridge Manor in Jasper, Ontario on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the age of 84.

Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, March 5, 1932, he was the son of the late Sanford and Dora Louise (nee Sullivan) Dickie.

He is also predeceased by his wife Dorothy Lee Fearon, on March 28, 2000.

He is forever loved, and his animated spirit will be missed by his children and their spouses, Karen (David) Procter and Ronald (Chantel) Dickie. Cherished grandfather of Levi (Erin Moore) Procter, Alex (Ashley) Procter, Saul Procter and Georgia Dickie. Proud great-grandfather of Kohen, Arianna and Myles Procter. He was the last surviving member of his siblings and is survived by his sisters-in-law Carole Underhill and Barb Fearon. He will be fondly remembered by his partner Nancy Potter of Lanark, as well as his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Frank was an avid sportsman all of his life, and as a young man he grew up riding horses, playing hockey and basketball, and enjoyed fishing for trout, bass, and salmon. In his youth he was a Boy Scout Leader, and in later years he thoroughly enjoyed golfing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He worked at Quebec North Shore Paper Company in Baie Comeau, Quebec for many years, and later moved to Saint John, New Brunswick where he was a Machine Tender at Irving Paper until his retirement.

Daniel Leblanc

The death of Dan Leblanc of Dalhousie occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital Saturday, January 07, 2017 at the age of 83. Born in Dundee the son of the late Louis and Celina (Savoie) LeBlanc.

Dan, along with his son Roger were founders of Daniel LeBlanc and Son Company in Dalhousie in 1977.He worked up into his seventies within the company before retiring.Dan was a member of the Eel River Knights of Columbus for many years. Camping was one of his greatest pleasures in life, especially in his home province and anywhere in Canada.

He is survived by his wife Albertine (Nadeau); sons Marcel (Karen) of Eel River, Roger (Lise) of Dalhousie, Denis (Lynn) of Eel River and daughter Denise LeBlanc (Gerald Ouellette) of Darlington. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sisters Celine, Aline and Carmen as well as his brothers John and Claude. Dan was predeased by an infant daughter Aliette and brothers Louis and Edward.

Donat Savoie

At the Campbellton Regional Hospital on January 2nd, 2017, passed away Mr. Donat Savoie, born November 4th, 1937. He was the son of the late Belonie Savoie and Desneiges Francoeur.

He is survived by his wife Rita Lavallée–Savoie; two sons: Denis (Rachelle Guitard) of Eel River Crossing and Claude (Margaret Tucker) of Moncton; a daughter Anne (Darren Schofield) of Riverview; six grandchildren: Brian Savoie (Jenny Mercier), Kevin Savoie of Dieppe, Émilie (Doug Prince) of Moncton, Gabrielle and Rebecca Schofield of Riverview and Pam Tucker (Justin Cormier) of Moncton; three great–grandchildren: Nataniel Prince, Elodie and Eliana Savoie; His sisters and brothers: Imelda (late Randolph Parker) and Gilberte of Eel River Crossing, Simonne (Harvey Thompson) of Dorval, Qc., Rita (Tony Awad) of Fredericton, Gisele of Shediac, Paul–Émile ), Dominique (Rose Marie), Yvon (Rose Marie), Julien (Anne Marie), Ludger (Diane) and Bélonie (Monette) of Eel River Crossing; Elizabeth Lavallée–d'Entremont (Tom) of Nackawic, Floyd Lavallée (Yvonne Gaudet) of Cape Pelé, Walter Lavallée (Yvette Levesque) of Eel River Crossing, Yvonne Lavallée (Roger Levesque) Eel River Crossing and Yvon Lavallée (Louise Gervais) of Rockland, ON as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers: Leonard and Maurice; his sister Murielle and a sister–in–law Doris Lavallée–Savoie.

Donat was a founding member of Eel River Crossing Knights of Columbus # 6957 also 4th degree member # 1785. He was the godfather of Philip d'Entremont, Édith Lavallée and Debra Davidson. He worked part of his life in house building. The last 14 years before his retirement, he worked for A.L.P.A. of Balmoral. He was named Volunteer of the Year in 2014, Knight of the Year in 2013, several times Knight of the Month. One of his pastimes was playing pool. He was also a member of the Golden Age Club of Eel River Crossing.

Since September 2015, he was a resident of the Dalhousie Nursing Home and the family would like to thank the staff for the good care that Mr. Donat has received also by the Palliative Unit at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

Judy Babin

The death of Judy Babin of Benjamin River occurred on January 10, 2017 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 62.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Jim Babin; daughter Alison (Brian) of Oromocto; son Adam (Carrie) of Alberta; grandchildren Mark, Axl and Kalia ; sister Mary Ouelette (Bert) of Dalhousie and brother John (Sandra) of New Mills as well as her 2 nephews and 1 niece.

Judy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing cards and she will be greatly missed.

Francis "Petty" Gallant

Passed away at his residence on December 23rd, 2016 at the age of 95, Mr. Francis "Petty" Gallant of Campbellton.

Irma MacNair

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Irma MacNair of Charlo, New Brunswick at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Born on June 1, 1943 in Robinsonville, New Brunswick, she was the youngest daughter of the late James Harris and Mary Harris (nee Murray).

Irma is survived by her loving husband Raymond MacNair of 54 years; son Dale MacNair of Bath, Ontario; daughter Beverly Hamilton (Dean) of Ottawa, Ontario; siblings Elaine Sharpe (late Wendell), Don Harris (Lois), Murray Harris, Reta Hilts (late Terry), Lois Mann (late Lorne); brother–in–law James MacNair (late Marsha), and Carl MacNair (Faye). She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Irma will be remembered for her smile and willingness to help others.

Helen Allain

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on January 15, 2017 at the age of 81, Mrs. Helen Allain of Campbellton, NB, wife of the late Albert Allain.

She was the daughter of the late Lillian Wade (Duncan) and Lemuel Wade. Helen was born in Newcastle, NB.

She is survived by her daughters Patty (Dusty) of Flatlands, Sherri of Granby, QC, sons Bert of Granby, QC and Jimmy of Fredericton, as well as her sisters; Sharon (Barry) of Dalhousie, Shirley (Earl) of Campbellton and her brothers Jack (Doris) of Fredericton and Mac of Campbellton. She had 4 grandchildren; Shaun, Jennifer, Casey and Jonathan, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Albert and her son Bob Allain, also her brothers; Keith, Walter, Bob and Jim.

Alexina "Exie" Delaney

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on January 12, 2017 at the age of 93, Mrs. Alexina "Exie" Delaney of Flatlands, wife of the late William Delaney.

She was the daughter of the late Sarah Jane (McDavid) Bulmer and George Angus Bulmer. Exie was born and raised in Flatlands. She was a devoted member of the Flatlands Baptist Church, a Sunday School Teacher and active in the Women's Missionary Society. She was involved in the community - a life member of the Flatlands Women's Institute and the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital and the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

Exie loved to cook and entertain in her home and was well known in the community for her homemade bread and rolls. She had a passion for gardening and always had numerous flowers and plants in and around her home.

She was devoted to her family and was the frequent hostess of many large family gatherings.

She is survived by her sons, George (Vickie), of Robinsonville, Terrance (Sandra) of Campbellton, Peter (Alice), of Flatlands, daughters, Gwen (Alan), of Campbellton, Cindy (George), of Whitby, Ontario, as well as her sister Ruth of Flatlands. She was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) and her daughter Peggy.

Merna Elizabeth Fraser

The death of Merna Elizabeth Fraser occurred at the Campbellton Nursing Home January 4, 2017 at the age of 87. She was the daughter of the late Margreta MacKinnon and the late John Beckingham.

Merna was a devoted caregiver, both as a nurse and mother. She worked as a registered nurse at the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, the Hotel Dieu Hospital, the Provincial Hospital and Campbellton Nursing Home. She loved to create through knitting, painting, sewing and gardening.

She is survived by her daughters Rae Adair ( Doug) of McLeods , Susan Shafer (Ron) of Ottawa and her son William Fraser of Campbellton ; grandchildren : Kate and Alex Adair, Aryn and Allegra Ziebarth, and Natalie and Nicki Fraser as well as her sister Dorothy Stewart.

She was predeceased by the husband Bill (William) Fraser and brothers John Harvey and William MacKinnon (Mack).

Earle Alexander Adams

Earle Alexander Adams, 87, passed away peacefully at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on Thursday morning, 19 January 2017.

Born in Campbellton on 22 August 1929, Earle was the son of the late Charles Alexander Adams and Mary Louise Young. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family; having been pre-deceased by a brother Lawrence (Jean Poley) and sisters Dorothy (Seeley) Pratt and Olive (Joseph) Keeley.

Earle is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Myrtle Phyllis (Flanagan) Adams. He is also survived by his son Keith (Judy Dean) of Campbellton and three grandchildren, Haley (Owen) Green of Quispamsis, Mark (Danielle) of Calgary and Brent (Samantha) of Dartmouth. He is survived by two great-grandchildren, Adam and Sophie Green and a number of nieces and nephews.

Earle was a caring and generous husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, whose devoted spirit inspired his entire family.

He was employed with Fraser Papers Inc for forty-six years, retiring in 1991. He would often share fond memories and energizing tales of working at the pulp mill in Atholville.

Earle remained physically active until his most recent hospitalization; he drew strength from bowling every Friday at the Campbellton Lions Centre

Mathilda (Babe) Valdron LaPointe

It is with sadness the family of Mathilda (Babe) Valdron LaPointe of Dalhousie, NB announces her death on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Dalhousie Nursing Home. She reached the age of 102 & 6 months, however, her quality of life had declined during the past few years.

Mathilda (Babe) was born on July 15, 1914 in Dalhousie, NB. She was the daughter of the late Peter Valdron and Elizabeth Doucet. Babe lived all her life in Dalhousie on the beautiful Bay of Chaleur. She was an active member of the CWL at St. John Bosco, she loved to play Bingo and her earlier days were filled with softball and bowling. She found much happiness in her backyard with her flowers.

She is survived by her sons, David (Heather) of Miramichi, NB, Carl of Irishtown, NB and Bobby (Diane) of Point la Nim, NB and her daughter Betty Ann (late Clayton Smith) of Dalhousie. Her grandchildren, David (Lisa) Calgary, AB, Shyanne (Jacques Bergeron) Dalhousie, Janet (Steve Wilde) Bangor, Maine, Christopher (Eryka) Irishtown, NB. Great-grandchildren; Shane and Keagan Bergeron, Dalhousie, NB, Aaron and Jillian Wilde, Bangor, Maine, Blake and Cally Rose LaPointe of Irishtown, NB

In addition to her husband, James and parents, Mathilda was predeceased by her sibling, Regis Valdron, Earl (Chum) Valdron, Benoit (Nushy) Valdron, Edouard Austin Valdron, Verne Valdron, Violet Patterson and Pearl O'Neil, also several nieces and nephews.

We would like to extend a special thank-you to the Nursing Staff, Kitchen Staff, Housekeeping Staff, Activity Staff and Administration Staff at the Dalhousie Nursing Home for their care and support. It is much appreciated.

Deborah Marie Marion

Deborah M. Marion of Lower Kingsclear, NB, wife of Douglas Marion, passed away January 20, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB as the result of injuries received in a snowmobile accident. Debbie was born at Bathurst, NB in 1964, a daughter of Jacques Rioux and Marina (Wright) Rioux. Debbie enjoyed cooking, gardening, card and board games. An important aspect of her life included being a wonderful wife, mother and friend. Family was paramount in her life which will live forever. Debbie was a former member of the Capital City Skating Club and Nackawic Figure Skating Club. She loved volunteering her time with youth sports that her family was highly involved in. In addition to her husband, Debbie is survived by her children, Adam Marion (Emily) and Melissa Marion, both of Fredericton, NB; her mother, Marina Rioux, Fredericton, NB and her father, Jacques Rioux (Honnerien), Campbellton, NB; her father-in-law, Eugene Marion, Fredericton, NB; two brothers, Peter Rioux and Timothy Rioux, both of Calgary, AB; a sister, Dolores Rioux, Vancouver, BC; a nephew Peter David Rioux, Vancouver, BC and a niece Darcie Rioux, Calgary, AB; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Debbie was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Bertha Marion.

Michael Meade

The death of Michael Meade of Miramichi and formerly of Nash Creek occurred accidentally in Belledune Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the age of 28. He is the son of Bryan and Ann (Steeves) Meade. Michael always had a smile and a laugh that could turn around any bad day and never spoke ill of anyone.He was employed at Adaptive Solutions in the Miramichi for the last six years and excelled in computers or anything mechanical and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He is survived by his parents Bryan and Ann; fiancé Jessica Duplessis as well as his brothers Nathan Meade and Anthony Carrier.
