James Harvey Black

With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of James Harvey Black of Nash Creek, N.B., which occurred on January 31, 2015 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 87.

Born in Nash Creek on January 3, 1928, he was the son of Edgar and Marguerite (Hamilton) Black. Harvey lived all his life in the area where he was a successful potato farmer, a kind neighbor, and a respected citizen. He was employed at MacMillians’ Store and NB Power Commission prior to his retirement. His pastimes over the years included watching ‘Hockey Night in Canada’, bowling, playing cards, attending his son’s hockey games, and listening to fiddle music. He was a member of Bethel United Church, Nash Creek, NB.

He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Annie (Hamilton); three sons, Arthur (Patricia) of Hamilton, Ontario, Allen (Nancy) of Nash Creek, and Robert (Louise) of Belledune and two daughters, Karen Stewart (Malcolm) of Salisbury, NB, and Cindy Brown (Boyd) of Salisbury, NB; eleven grandchildren (Ashley, Alex , Blake, Ian , Jeremy, Danica, Jordan, Cameron, Alyssa, Abigail, Kaylee) and two great grandsons, Jacob and Dax; one brother, Donald (Darlington, N.B.) and one sister, Ruby Searle (Napan, N.B.) ; predeceased by sisters Nancy, Peggy and Helen; brother, Gordon; and grandson, Lennon Harvey. Harvey will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a friend to all. If desired, donations may be made to Chaleur United Church(Bethel), Nash Creek or a charity of choice.

Kevin Mallaley

After a long and courageous battle with cancer,the death of Kevin Mallaley of Lorne occurred January 29,2015 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 48.Born in Lorne,he was the son of Andrew and Roslyn (LaPointe) Mallaley.

Besides his parents,Kevin is survived by one daughter Alannah (Nathan) of Archibald;one grandchild Addison;one sister Sandra Blanchard (Paul) of Bathurst;one brother Ian (Jennifer) of Jacquet River,one niece Chelsea; one nephew Joel as well as millions of cousins,aunts and uncles and too many special friends to count.

Maurice Turgeon

Passed away at the George Dumon Hospital at Moncton on January 27, 2015 at the age of 82, Maurice Turgeon of Campbellton, husband of the late Theresa Duguay and partner of Inga Anderson.

The funeral service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Cambellton, on Monday at 11:00 am.

Visitation at Maher's Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne Street Campbellton, from 9:30 am until time of funeral.

Legion members of Campbellton branch # 19 and all members of the Royal Canadian Legion are asked to meet at Maher's Funeral Home on Monday at 10am for Legion Service.

Roger Ouellette

À l'Hôpital régional Chaleur de Bathurst, le dimanche 1 févier 2015, à l'âge de 66 ans, est décédé Roger Ouellette, époux de Bertha (Blanchard) Ouellette, il habitait à Beresford.

Né à Atholville, il était fils de feu Auguste Ouellette et feu Laura Doucette.

Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil trois enfants: Carole Poitras (Luc) de Beresford, Mélanie Ouellette (Daniel Cormier) de Bertrand et Marc Ouellette (Joanie Frenette) de Petit-Rocher.

Trois petits-enfants: Alexandre, Arielle et Noémie.

Trois frères: Gilbert Ouellette (Diane) de Delson, Qc, Jean-Paul Ouellette (Monique) de Campbellton et Donald Ouellette (Rosita) d’Atholville. Deux sœurs : Claudette Winchester (Arthur) d’Atholville et Diane MacArthur (Luc Chang) de Kingston, Ont., plusieurs nièces et neveux. Roger a travaillé comme représentant de vente pour la compagnie « Brothers Beauty Supply » de Saint Jean, N.-B. pour plusieurs années.

Roberta Hickey Burnett

The death of Roberta Hickey Burnett of Belledune occurred at the Bathurst Regional Hospital Saturday, Feb. 07, 2015 at the age of 85. Born in Armstrong Brook, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Dempsey and Mildred (Doucet).

Roberta (Bobo) was a pillar of our community. Her desire in life was to make other people happy. She loved to laugh and would talk to anyone and everyone.

Bobo taught school in Belledune and Jacquet-River for many years, and was an active member of the C.W.l. Her passion was fund raising for the St-Gabriel Parish, helping cook large meals and preparing for skits and plays. Bobo gave her all to everything she committed herself to.

She was a very proud mother of 4 children, grand mother of 5, Jeremy, Luke, Melanie, Jordan and Hannah and Great grand mother of 5. She also has numerous neices and nephews who loved her dearly.

She is survived by her sons Joel of Alberta and Laurie (Kathy) of Belledune;daughters Alva Bujold (Ron) of Edmonton and Lois Dobson-Bujold (Luc) of Belledune; 5 grand and 5 great grandchildren; brothers Wilbur and Bernard as well as her sisters Joan Sanborn, Lourdes Copp and Lois Rioux. She was predeceased by her husbands Gilles Hickey and Roy Burnett;brothers Lawrence, Robert and Patrick and sisters Marguerite, Bernadette, Sarah and Irma.

Joanne Hubert

It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Joanne Hubert of Darlington Manor and formerly of Charlo at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on Saturday, February 7 at the age of 80.

Born at Charlo, she was the daughter of the late John W. Vincent and Thelma Thompson.

She was predeceased by her husband David Hubert in 2011.

Joanne is survived by her daughter Wendy Hubert (Tom Brewer) of Keswick Ridge; three brothers, Weldon of Halifax, Graham of Charlo, Lynn (JoAnn) of Saint John, two sisters, Donna McEwen of Campbellton, Peggy (Brian) Arnold of Fredericton, and many nieces and nephews.

She began her working career in the main office of the NBIP Company and retired in 1992 as secretary to the mill manager after 40 years of service. Joanne volunteered at the Dalhousie Nursing Home and over the years sponsored many children through World Vision from childhood through to adulthood. She loved travelling and in earlier years visited many countries with family and friends.

Joanne was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Dalhousie where she was actively involved with church activities.

Robert Montgomery

Passed away at his residence on February 6, 2015 at the age of 78, Mr. Robert Montgomery of Flatlands.

He leaves to mourn his wife Iris Thompson Montgomery, daughter Stacey Montgomery Godin (David) of Atholville, son Jeff Montgomery of Moncton, brother Thomas Montgomery (Elaine) of Dalhousie and sister Lenna Mann of Ontario. Also survived by his grandchildren Troy and Justin, step grandchildren Adam and Brittany, great-grandchildren Torie and Zakk, step great-grandchildren Jace, Jemma, Ayden and Liam. Predeceased by his mother, Hazel Irvine; father, Leonard Montgomery and sister, Isobel.

At the request of the family, there will be no funeral service and no visitations.

Edith Doris Moore

Passed away at the Campbellton Village Nursing Home on February 7, 2015 at the age of 81, Miss Edith Doris Moore of Campbellton. Born in Campbellton, on December 5, 1933, daughter of the late Alexander Moore and the late Winnifred Durette.

She is survived by her sisters, Florence Mann of Campbellton, Helen (Stanley) Ritchie of Montreal, Ethel Murchie of Dalhousie; her brother, David (Sharon) Hachey of Atholville and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her step-father, Lionel Hachey; her sisters, Gloria Belliveau, Shirley Gallant, Jacqueline Ritchie, Muriel Cyr and Judy Savoie and her brother, Gordon Hachey.

Joseph William Charles "Charlie" Thomas

Passed away at his residence in Campbellton on February 4, 2015 at the age of 64, Charles Thomas, husband of Ida Chouinard. Born and raised in Campbellton, on March 27, 1950, son of Beatrice Robertson and the late Joseph Thomas.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Ida (Chouinard) Thomas; his mother, Beatrice Thomas of the Campbellton Nursing Home; his sisters, Iris Doucet of Glen Levit and Peggy Thomas (Doug) of Campbellton; his brothers, Dennis Thomas of Fredericton and Edward Thomas of Moncton; his many nieces and nephews, Jeff Doucet (Nancy), Laura Doucet, Sara Weber (Theo), Isaac Anderson, Autumn, Amelia and Merrick Thomas; grand nieces and nephews, Audrey, Lacey, William, Gabrielle, Jeremy, Joe and Andrew. He also leaves to mourn many supportive friends and colleagues.

Marcia MacDonald

The death of Marcia MacDonald of Dalhousie occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital Thursday, Feb.05,2015 at the age of 66.Born in Lorne,she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Jane (Francoeur) Carrier.

She is survived by her husband Harry;sonsDanny (Samantha) of Miramichi,Jason of Dalhousie;daughter Amanda MacDonald of Dalhousie as well as her grandchildren Brandon,William and Angelica.She is also survived by her sisters Alice Carrier and Gloria Legace and brothers Richard and Benoit.
