Mary Christina Thompson Legacy
Mary Christina Thompson Legacy would like everyone to know that on Monday, March 14, 2016 she was offered an unbelievable opportunity that just could not be passed up. She will be the Social Director for a wonderful group of people who she has not seen in quite some time, including her high school sweetheart and husband, Allan Legacy, as well as her parents, Gordon John Thompson and Margaret Christina Gillis. She was told that they were in dire need of a spontaneous lady with an infectious smile and soothing voice who could teach a multitude of classes, including (but not restricted to): the Culinary Arts (specializing in creative dishes that tantalize the taste buds but are dreamed up on the spot with whatever ingredients are on hand - no cookbook required) as well as: Gardening (with a specialty in bringing ferns back from the dead and getting Christmas cacti to flower); Music Appreciation (of the vinyl persuasion - all songs must tell a good story and be fun to dance to); Beach Combing and Seascapes 101 (focusing on relaxation and happiness); and finally, How to be a Human Encyclopedia, with tips and tricks on how to research absolutely everything and then retain that information for the rest of your life. Although she wouldn't be thrilled about having her age revealed, her attention to detail would not allow the omission of her birth year as 1952.
When Mary took off for that Folk Festival in the sky she left behind her daughters, Tammy (Ewen Cameron), Tanya (Michael Vincent), and Tricia (George Nazair), as well as her grandson Rob Cameron, her sister Ann (Vic Bidnyk), her nephew Tyler (Lee Burroughs), and her loving in-laws and extended families.
She has asked those she is leaving behind to raise a glass and wish her well as she embarks on this new adventure.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date for friends and family.
Her family would like to thank the amazing staff in the Palliative Care Unit of the Campbellton Regional Hospital, whose compassion made her stay easier for everyone. Donations in her name may be made to the Breast Cancer Society.

Mary Elizabeth "Bessy" Gillis
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth (who we fondly called Bessy) on Saturday, March 19, 2016. She died peacefully at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont UHC in Moncton, N.B. after a lengthy illness. She was 82 years old.
Bessy was the youngest child of William James Gillis and his wife Mary (Haley), both predeceased. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her three older brothers: Bill (wife Pat) Gillis of Moncton, Bob (predeceased wife Janice) Gillis of Campbellton, N.B. and Ralph (wife Alice Marie) Gillis also of Moncton. She will also be very much missed by all her nieces and nephews (now 3 generations worth) to whom she was always like a second mother.
Bessy was born on July 19, 1933 in Campbellton where she lived and worked until 1977 when her work took her to Moncton. She spent her entire working career as a dedicated secretary for the Canadian National Railway from which she retired in 1988. In her younger days, Bessy loved to ski and camp but her greatest love was that of music. She belonged to various choral groups, played the piano beautifully and instilled her great affection for musical theatre and classical music in many of her nieces and nephews. Her other great love was that for her own as well as the neighbourhood dogs whom she spoiled much to the consternation of their owners. Bessy was a very kind and generous person who was always willing to share all she had with those less fortunate. She spent many shifts at the Karing Kitchen soup kitchen, wanting to help those in need. Another of Bessy’s greatest assets was her wonderful sense of humour which could make any discussion with her so much fun.
The family would like to thank the dedicated medical staff at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont UHC who tried to make Bessy’s last few months so comfortable.
In accordance with Bessy’s wishes, there will be no service or visitation. She simply wished to be buried in the family plot at the Campbellton Rural Cemetery.
