Joseph Justin Patrick Foley DeGrace
Sunday, February 15th, 2015 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 72, passed away Mr. Joseph DeGrace, husband of Charlene Michaud. He was the son of the late Stella Young and the late George Foley and adoptive parents late Rose Pitre and late Arthur DeGrace.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Charlene of Campbellton, his children: Michael DeGrace of Campbellton, Brian DeGrace of Kanata ON, Kevin DeGrace of Campbellton, Robin DeGrace of Campbellton, Ricky DeGrace (Julie Phillips) of Riverview, Jo-Ann Lijeskic (Zarko) of Riverview and Kim DeGrace (Stephane) of Campbellton; his grandchildren: Mathew, Kisha, Brianna, Jacob, Noah, Devon and Logan as well as many nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
J Edgar Doucet
On February 11th, 2015, Mr. J Edgar Doucet of Campbellton passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. He was the husband of the late Bernadette (LeBlanc) and the son of the late Celina Frenette and late Edmond Doucet. He was founding Director of La Caisse Populaire de Campbellton.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Edith (Raymond Roy) of Campbellton, Roger (Marie Richard) of Fredericton, Louis (Edna Pelletier) of Dieppe, Claire of Moncton, Denise (Gilles Leger) of St-Édouard de Kent and Daniel of Campbellton; his 8 grandchildren : Renée, Mathieu, Josée, François, Joey, Michel (Mélissa Léger), Étienne and André; his great-granddaughter Mariève, his brother Alderic Doucet of Dolbeau, QC and his sister-in-law Marie-Laure Doucet of Maisonnette and by many members of the LeBlanc’s family, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Bernadette, his parents, his sister Anita and brother Leo.
Kathleen Main
Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on February 11, 2015 at the age of 76, Kathleen Main of Pointe-à-la-Croix, wife of Don Manning. Born in Campbellton, on April 24, 1938, daughter of the late Harold Main and the late Phyllis Evalyne Rose.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Legacy (Patrick) of Campbellton; her sons, Harry Young (Mona) of Dieppe, Richard Young (Lisette) of Pointe-à-la-Croix and Thomas Young of Campbellton; her sister, Catherine Doucet (Jerome) of Campbellton; step children, Billy Harris, Sally Harris, Jenny Barnaby, Jimmy Harris, Joanne Bryant, John Harris, Jules Harris, Patti Lindstrom, Brenda Manning and Joan Manning and Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her stepchildren, Peter Harris and Mike Harris.
Robert Bruce McKiel
Robert "Bruce" McKiel passed away at the Campbellton Nursing Home on February 12th at the ae of 75. Bruce was born in Campbellton in May 1939.
He was a Carpenter by trade and a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces; he enjoyed wood-working and visits from his grandchildren.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife Judy of 52 years. They were married in Tide Head on December 15, 1962. Bruce is lovingly remembered by his son Michael and his wife Cindy of Brampton On, son Rodney and his wife Janet of Riverview, grandchildren Melissa, Steven, Andrew andBranden. He was also lovingly remembered by his brother Bill (Joyce) and his sisters, Daisy (John) and Barb (Norm).
Bruce was predeceased by his parents Bill and Daisy and siblings Bud, Joe and Sandra.
John "Jack" Gallant
Passed away peacefully on February 13, 2015, at the Veterans Unit of the Campbellton Regional Hospital, John (Jack) Gallant, husband of, first wife, the late Dorothy Poole and second wife, the late Alma Gallant. Born in Piusville, Prince Edward Island on November 4, 1914 to the late Priscilla (Doucette) and the late Joseph Gallant.
Following his military term in WW2, Jack moved to Brantford, Ontario where he met and married Dorothy and became father to her three young daughters. Following Dorothy's death in 1962, Jack married Alma Gallant. Jack worked as a truck driver for 25 years at Harding Carpets before an injury caused him to stop working. He was very proud of his 25-year watch. Jack, Alma and Brian later moved back to Alma's home territory and settled in Point a la Croix. Jack was always happiest with a dog by his side. He was a gentle man who led a simple life. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a smile for everyone. Jack spent the last few years of his life at the Veteran's Ward of the Campbellton Regional Hospital. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff who became his family.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his son, Brian Gallant; step-daughters, Joyce Carlson, Donna Wilson and Linda Vander Velde; grandchildren, Ryan Jack Wysote, Fayth Gallant, Jordan Sandford, Tracey Chenger, Trevor and Gordon Taylor, Rhonda Willis and Cathy Baker. He also leaves to morn, his great-grandson, Micah Joseph. Jack was predeceased by his parents and siblings.
Robert Richards
Robert Richards, formerly of Fredericton, passed away at the Jordan Lifecare Centre on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the age of 92. Born in Campbellton, he was the son of the late William and Katherine (Shaw) Richards. Before retirement, Robert worked as a radio announcer first at CKNB in Campbellton, then with CBC in Sydney and Fredericton.
He was the last surviving member of his family. He is survived by his step-daughter, Barbara Harrigan (Wayne) of Moncton. He was predeceased by his wife, Christina Ascah Perman, sister, Elizabeth, and brothers, Neil, Donald and Byron.
Jeannette Marie Fraser
Peacefully, at the Kingston General Hospital, on Friday, February 20, 2015, at 84 years of age.
Jeannette (nee Gallant), was the loving wife of the late Ian (Sonny) Fraser and beloved mother of William Gary Fraser (Patricia) and Debra Lynn and adored grandmother of Deniella Marie.
Jeannette is survived by her sisters Rose Dube, Annette Felix, Lucy LeBlanc, Lucienne Dube, Augustine Pitre, Lucille Maltais and Bertha Goulette and brothers Lucien and Roger. She is predeceased by her sister Germainne and brother Germain and parents Marie Antoniette and Prosper Gallant.
Jeannette enjoyed her retirement from the Department of National Defence with family and friends and her trips down east to Campbellton, New Brunswick. Most especially, she enjoyed her shopping excursions. A special thank you is extended to her companions Joanne Valiquette-Broad and Christine Hunter and family friend Bernice Ison.
Joan Phillips (Flann)
Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on February 22, 2015 at the age of 64, Joan Phillips of Dalhousie, wife of Bruce Phillips. Born in Dalhousie on May 3, 1950, daughter of the late Robert Flann and the late Beatrice Cormier.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce; her daughters, Rachel Phillips of Saint John, NB and Tracy Coffin of Dalhousie; her son, Bruce Jr. of Campbellton; her brothers, Gerald Flann (Bonnie) of Prince Rupert, BC, and Ricky Flann (Tracey) of Kingston Peninsula, NB; her sisters, Lois Flann of Darlings Island, NB, and Mona Flann of NS and many nieces and nephews.
Joseph William "Bill" White
Bill White, beloved husband of Hilda White,passed away at the Moncton City Hospital, Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015 at the age of 92. Born in Benjamin River, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Gagne) White. Besides his loving wife of 65 years, Bill is survived by his children; Brenda Laing (Mike) of Calgary, Claudette Lidbetter (Mark) of Montreal, Robert White (Karen) of Moncton; grandchildren Adam, Tracy, Amanda, Jason, Kristin, Felicia, Megan; great grandchildren Sebastian, Riley, Jaxon, Samara, Domnick as well as his brothers Hugh and Eugene and sister Marina Rogers. He was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth (Timmons).
Bill joined the air force in 1940. After retiring in 1968, he went to work for the Protestant School Board in Montreal and then moved back to Moncton in 1977 to work at Scholarex. After suffering a heart attack in 1985, he and Hilda built a house in Shediac and enjoyed his retirement. The family would like to thank the team at the Moncton City Hospital for their care and support to Bill and his family for the past six weeks.
At Bill's request, there will be no formal funeral service. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Benjamin River.Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillans Funeral Home, Black Point.
John Maxwell Henderson
It is with heavy hearts the family of John Maxwell Henderson, announce his unexpected passing on February 18 due to natural causes.
John was born May 5, 1959 in St. Stephen, NB., son of Max and Janice (nee Clark) Henderson who are still residing in Campbellton.
John was in the last graduating class of Restigouche Senior High School in 1977. He continued his education at Mount Allison University graduating with a Bachelor of Science. He then went on to study at U.N.B. in Fredericton and obtained his Masters degree. John loved nature. His first job was foreman of a crew planting trees north east of Campbellton. He spent most of his working career with the department of Natural Resources in Fredericton. John always liked to be busy. As a teenager he built a log cabin behind his parents cottage in Quebec. He renovated the cottage in Shediac, and worked extensively on his home and sailboat in Fredericton. John loved animals especially Golden Retrievers. Chipper was his first golden, then Tucker and currently Ella. He loved his goldens and they all loved him back even more. John always welcomed his friends with open arms. He enjoyed weekend getaways at the cottage in the summer or pot luck dinners in the winter after a day of skiing. John had a lot of interests. He loved to run 10 km marathons, Tai Kwon Do, skiing, kayaking, and of course photography, which many of his friends have hanging on their walls. John was and always will be loved very much by his family and friends.
John had a huge heart and loved his family; his parents, Max and Janice, his sister, Susan, his nephew, Neal and Neal's partner Elyse.
Jeannine-Savoie Albert
Jeannine-Savoie Albert, 61, of Moncton, passed away on Friday February 20, 2015 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born on February 19, 1954 in Dalhousie, she was the daughter of the late Valmont and Aldéa (LeClair) Savoie.
She was a health service counsellor at MCRI prior to her retirement in 2012.
Jeannine had a love of life, her humour, faith and presence among family and friends will never be forgotten.
She will be sadly missed by three children: René and Alain, both of Fredericton and Darren Stewart of Moncton; eight sisters: Rita Landry (Yvon) of Val D’Amour, Melita Latham and Irène Shephard, both of Woodstock, Dorothée Savoie, Raymonde Thériault (Charles) and Linda Coulombe (Roger), all of Campbellton, Doreen Savoie of Carleton and Doris Stewart (Art) of Nunavut; one brother, Michel of Campbellton along with several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her former husband, Yvon Albert; two brothers: Ronald and Edmond.
