Dawna Marie Bidiscombe

Dawna Marie Biddiscombe, 83, of Campbellton, NB, passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on February 27, 2015.

Dawna was born in Campbellton on November 13, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Anastasia Sharpe (née Arseneau) and of the late Robert Sharpe.

She was a graduate of the Campbellton High School where she also received a certificate in a special commercial program.

She was an intelligent and industrious women who worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for a number of local businesses including Willett Fruit Company, Canada Trust, Cabano Hardwood and Campbellton Enterprises.

Dawna married Llewellyn (Lew) Biddiscombe in 1955.

In her spare time, Dawna was an avid reader and she was a long-time fixture in local bowling leagues. She was also an enthusiastic animal lover and no lost cat ever crossed her path without finding a home.

Dawna is survived by her son Perry (Sharon); grandson Alex (Chelsea); great grandson Isaac, all of Victoria, BC; and by her cousins Cheryl LeBlanc, Katherine Steeves and Murial Longlade.

Kathleen Long Arbeau

Kathleen Long Arbeau of Moncton and formerly of Campbellton passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 at her residence. Born in Campbellton she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Alta (Fitzgerald) Long.

She is survived by her sons, Andrew Long, Brendan Arbeau and Bruce Long; a sister, Ruby Long (Arthur); brothers, Larry Long (Carol), George Long (Yvonne), Doug Long (Kelly), Cluney Long and Leslie Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Samantha, Mitchel and Alex; 2 great-grandchildren, her cherished niece Brenda and numerous other nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Brian Arbeau, a brother, Dave, and a sister, Irma.

Marc Chouinard CM

It is with great sadness that the Chouinard family announces the loss of their son and brother, Joseph Marc Michel Chouinard, CM, on Tuesday February 24th, 2015 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. Born in Dalhousie, NB, he spent his childhood years in Balmoral and Campbellton. He has lived in Moncton, his adopted home town for many, many years.

Son of Thérèse (Lavallée) and the late Alphonse Chouinard of Campbellton, he was the younger brother of Docile Chouinard and Ida (late Charles Thomas), both of Campbellton, big brother to Patrick (Mary) of Fredericton, Jean-Guy (Linda) and Louis (Réjeanne Daigle) both of Saint John, Paul (Jennie Piercey) and Suzanne (Alan Miller) both of Campbellton, Luc (Susan Ash) of Gander and Carole of Moncton; he was the uncle of many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. Marc will be greatly missed by all.

Marc also leaves to mourn the members of the Capitol Theatre family where he worked as the General Manager for 15 years. Greatly saddened by his loss are countless Acadian artists, as well as from all over Canada and those he worked with in the cultural sector. He fought militantly for environmental causes and for social justice. He was also extremely active in both the New Brunswick Liberal Party and the Liberal Party of Canada. Marc was awarded the Order of Canada in 2010 for the role he played in developing the cultural environment of his province and for being a passionate advocate of Acadian culture and bilingualism when he made the East Coast Music Awards held in Moncton in 1999 a bilingual musical event. He was given the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal in 2012 and was also named that year, Music Industry Professional of the Year by Music NB. Marc received the Builders Award from the East Coast Music Association (ECMA) in 2008.

Marc, in collaboration with others from the cultural community, initiated la FrancoFête en Acadie. He was very involved with representing the Province of New Brunswick from 1993 Sommet de la Francophonie and was the associate Operations Director of the Sommet de la Francophonie when that event was held in Moncton in 1999. Marc also organized artistic events at every editions of the Congrès Mondial Acadien since 1994. In 2010, Marc cultivated a new interest when he incorporated the Circus Stella circus company.

Marc was a man of passion who worked tirelessly for the many causes he believed in. He had a great effect on the lives of many and his will be missed by those who had the pleasure of working alongside him in these many pursuits.

Linda Legacy

Wednesday, February 25th, 2015 at her residence of Glenlevit at the age of 50, passed away Mrs. Linda Legacy. She was the daughter of the late Yvette Guitard and the late Ronald Legacy.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter: Tracy Moran (Kirk McDavid) of Atholville; her grandchildren: Keegan & Chloe; her lifelong friend Dale Cooling of Glenlevit; her sister and brother: Krystal Legacy of Campbellton and Raymond Legacy (Garrance) of Bathurst as well as many nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Ricky Legacy.

Mabel Thibeault

Friday, February 27th, 2015 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, at the age of 70, passed away Mrs. Mabel Thibeault of Cross Point and formerly of Campbellton, wife of Mr. Roland Thibeault. She was the daughter of the late Eva (Archibald) and the late James Connors.

Besides her husband Roland, she will be sadly missed by her children: Michel Joseph (Dallas Marchand) of Ottawa, Francine Thibeault (Charlie Hunnington) of Dundee, Jean-Paul Thibeault (Sylvie Marin) of St. Arthur, Denis Thibeault of St. Aubin, Nicole Thibeault (Randy Harris) of Glencoe and Sylviana Thibeault (Jean-Philippe Levesque) of Malauze; her 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and also by many friends.

Joseph Flanagan

The death of Joseph Flanagan of Belledune occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst Sunday,March 08,2015 at the age of 75. Born in St. John, he was the son of the late Leo and Willa (Carlton) Flanagan.

Joey worked as a pipe fitter for Local 512 from 1966 until his retirement in 1999.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Lawlor); daughter Cheryl Berlettano (Robert) of Oakville, ON., sons; Gerald (Ann Marie) of Perth Andover, Mark of Lower Sackville, Kevin (Vickie) of St. John, Shawn (Jacqueline) of Beresford; 11 grandchildren as well as his sister Cheryl Trigo of New Orleans.

Francine Cavanaugh Lepoidvin

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on March 5, 2015 at the age of 71, Francine Cavanaugh Lepoidvin of Pointe-à-la-Croix, wife of John Lepoidvin. Born in St-Siméon, QC, on July 16, 1943, daughter of the late Léo Cavanaugh and the late Marie-Louise Cyr.

She is survived by her husband, John; her brothers, Jean-Marc (Joyce) and Jacques both of Pointe-à-la-Garde. Also surviving are many brothers-in law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Nicole.

The funeral mass will be held at Ste-Helene Church, Pointe-à-la-Croix, on Monday at 2:00 pm (New Brunswick time).

Beatrice Leblanc

Monday, March 9th, 2015 at the Charles LeMoine Hospital in Longueuil, QC, at the age of 74, passed away Mrs. Beatrice "Ti-Bea" LeBlancof Ste-Julie, QC and formerly of Campbellton, partner of Mr. Roger Huot. She was the daughter of the late Juliette (Ostiguy) and the late Louis LeBlanc.

Besides her partner Roger, she will be sadly missed by her children: Diane (Yves Bélanger) of St-Bruno, Denis of Campbellton, Joanne (Marc Blanchard) of Campbellton, Suzanne (Terry Gallant) of Campbellton, Ricky (Michelle Boudreau) of Fredericton and Sylvie (Yanick Bienvenue) of Mont-St-Hilaire; her grandchildren: Veronique, Shawn, Michelle, Emilie, Sara, Blake, Grace and Emma; her great grand-son Noah; her brother Roger LeBlanc (Diane) and sister Andrée LeBlanc also by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Hectorine and her brother Hector.

Carol Roy

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on March 11, 2015 at the age of 58, Carol Roy of Campbellton, daughter of the late Lawrence Roy and the late Rolande Essiembre.

She is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth (Luc Doiron), Julie (Michael Caissie); three grandchildren; Annabelle, Josh, Matthew; and six siblings, Angela, Diane, Daniel, Andrew, Roger and Raymond.

Rae Elizabeth Sullivan

Mrs Rae Elizabeth Sullivan of Tide Head passed away March 14, 2014 at the Restigouche Regional Hospital at the age of 92, surrounded by her family

Rae is survived by her son Vaugh Sullivan, Moncton City Hospital (Lois), daughter Margo Campbell Upper Kingsclear (Bill), daughter Kathy Glencross, Tide Head (Gilmour Jr.) and her brother Lloyd Farrar of Tide Head. She has five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Ronnie, her mother Libby Dow, her father Ray Farrar and her brother Jackie Farrar.
