Patrick Firth

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on April 1, 2016 at the age of 82, Mr. Patrick Firth of Flatlands.

Patrick is survived by his wife Myrtle Firth and two Sons; Vaughn Firth (Grace), and Wendell Firth of Flatlands. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Devin (Lana), D.J., Connor, and Sarah, as well as one great grandchild, Brooklynn. Patrick was predeceased by his son David Firth and his grandson Dalton Firth.

Active Pallbearers were Sons Vaughn and Wendell, Grandsons Devin and Connor, Glenny Montgomery, Vernon McDavid, Bryan Irvine, Timmy Myles, Douglas Murray, and Ronnie McGraw. Honorary Pallbearers were Brian Vautour, Aubrey Firth, Charlie Gillis, Pierre Essiambre, Tom Gray, Gary Mann, Glenny Harvey, Alfred Harvey, Milton McDavid, Boyd Fitzpatrick, and Bill Thompson.

He will be sadly missed by his family and all that knew him.

Jean Murray

Friday, April 1st, 2016 at her the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 69, passed away Jean Murray of Upsalquitch. She was the daughter of Mrs. Edith (Main) and the late Hardy Murray.

Besides her mother, Mrs. Edith of Upsalquitch, she will be sadly missed by her children: Debbie Smith of Calgary, AB, Kimble Smith of Richmond Hill, ON and Terry Smith (Sharon) of Dalhousie; her 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; her sisters & brothers all from Upsalquitch: Esther Murray, Carmen Noye, Lois Moran (Bob), Glenda Boudreau (David), Sheldon Murray (Elizabeth) and William Murray (Ann); her brother-in-law Paul Thomas of Robinsonville and sister-in-law Lena Murray of Campbellton also by many nieces, nephews and friends. A special thought for Bonnie & Carla which Jean considered as her step-daughters.

She was predeceased by her father, Hardy, her sister Donna Thomas and her brother-in-law Boyd Noye.

Michel "Mike" Gagnon

Saturday, April 2, 2016, in Brantford, Ont, at the age of 83 years old, passed away Michel "Mike" Gagnon, husband of the late Jean-Louis Gagnon and the late Celina Allard of Atholville.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Pierrette, his children Patrick (Claudette), Daniel, Michelle and Nancy (Norman), as well as his sisters and brothers, Adeline, Leona, Dora (Henri-Paul), Edmond, Ernest (Audrey) and Georges (Regina).

The funeral will be held in Brantford, Ont.

Theresa (Lucinda) Lapointe

The death of Theresa (Lucinda) Lapointe of Jacquet River and formerly of Gravel Hill, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on Friday, April 8th, 2016 at the age of 87. She was the wife of the late Delphis Lapointe.

Theresa is survived by her daughters: Valerie Carrier (Randy) of Gravel Hill, Shirley Lapointe (Donny) of Gravel Hill, Sally Meade (Donald) of Belledune and Susan Lapointe of Bathurst; her sons: Delphis Jr. (Sheila) of Nova Scotia and Lloyd (Winnie) of Lorne; her 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; her brother Edward Degrechie of Belledune.

Besides her husband Delphis, she was predeceased by her parents, Edward & Margaret (Blais) Degrechie, her daughter Josephine, her son Carl and her sister Josephine.

Theresa was a 35 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 77 of Jacquet River.

Floyd George Synette

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on April 7, 2016 at the age of 59, Mr. Floyd George Synette of Dalhousie. Born in Montreal on October 10, 1956 to the late Francis Synette and the late Alice Arseneault.

He was known as a lover of cars, racing, engine building and was a mechanic by trade. He had an infectious laugh and he had a carefree life.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia Synette of Dalhousie, one niece Alicia Synette of Dalhousie, two maternal uncles, Edward (Aline) Arseneault of Dalhousie and Richard (Yvonne) Arseneault of Campbellton, paternal aunt Beulah (Rhéal) Valotaire of Charlo and paternal uncle Raymond Synette of Eel River.

René Joseph Fecteau

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on April 9th, 2016, at the age of 64, Mr. René Joseph Fecteau of Dalhousie, husband of Shirley (Russell) Fecteau. Born in Dalhousie on April 24th, 1951 he was the son of the late Benjamin Fecteau and the late Cecile Landry.

René worked as a high school teacher at École Aux quatre vents in Dalhousie for 32 years. He also coached several high school soccer and basketball teams. His devotion and passion influenced the life of many individuals, while working tirelessly to ensure equality for every student.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Russell; his daughters Krystyna and Kara; his stepson Ryan Guitard; his brother Fernand (Micheline); his sisters Georgette Letourneau (Ralph), and Ghislaine; three grandchildren, Kassidy, Dylan and Brea. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Laurier.

Edmond LeBlanc

Sunday, March 20th, 2016 at his residence in Oshawa, ON, at the age of 83, passed away after a short battle against cancer, Mr. Edmond LeBlanc, husband of the late Sandra Stoddard. He was the son of the late Joseph D. LeBlanc and the late Ozithe Legere.

He will be sadly missed by his children: Romain (Anne Marie) of Malauze, Emile (Sylvie) of Stangle, QC, Ronald of Campbellton, Raymond of Oshawa, ON, Catherine (Dave) of Campbellton, Albert of Campbellton and Leona of Campbellton; by his 28 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also by many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife and his daughter Julienne.

Robert "Bob" Savoie

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on April 12, 2016 at the age of 81, Mr. Robert "Bob" Savoie of Campbellton. Born on December 3, 1934 in Dundee, NB, he was the son of the late Blanche LeBlanc and the late Joseph Savoie

He is survived by his wife Margaret Marie (Mischuk) Savoie, his daughter Janet Savoie (Gerald) of Atholville, his son John Savoie (Cathy) of Calgary, AB and his stepson Darrell Panich (Charlene) of Calgary AB. He is also survived by his sister Georgette Roy (Ron) of Fredericton, NB, 6 grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Sharon McLaughlin (1987).

Carol Arpin

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on April 18, 2016 at the age of 78, Mrs. Carol Mary (Downs) Arpin of Campbellton and formerly of Flatlands, wife of John Joseph Arpin.

She is survived by her daughter Krista Arpin (Pat) of Robinsonville, her son Michael Arpin of Campbellton, 3 grandchildren, Zachary Arpin-Jacques, Avery Arpin-Jacques, Alicia Lapointe and 1 great-grandchild: Noah Lapointe, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Olive (Mahoney) Downs, father George W.A. Downs, 3 sisters, Maxine, Dorothy and Katherine, as well as her son Jeffrey Arpin.

Derek James Diotte

On Sunday April 17th, 2016, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 44, passed away Derek James Diotte of Balmoral, he was the son of Mrs. Charmaine (Teskey) and of Mr. Gerard Diotte. Besides his parents, he will be sadly missed by his brother and sisters: Garry of Brampton, Lisa (Bruce Buchanan) of Bathurst and Hilda (Arthur Leclair) of Eel River Crossing; his nephews: Scott Lavallée (Vanessa) and their daughter Alexia, Shawn Lavallée, Richard Diotte, Kevin Doucet and his daughter Emma and Ryan Diotte also by many cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his brother Richard.

Alma Rose Splude

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on April 12, 2016 at the age of 79, Mrs. Alma Rose (Johnson) Splude of Dalhousie, wife of Charles Splude. Born in Val d'Amour on August 20, 1936, daughter of the late Lucien Johnson and of the late Florida Levesque.

She was the Loving mother of Ricky (Ruthie), Patrick, Tina (Paul), Terry (Shirley) and Carl. A dedicated grandmother to Lucy, Krista, Timothy, Brooklyn and Desiree, and Great-grandmother to Noah, Carrie and Victoria. She leaves her siblings Rose, Gerard, Marie-Ange, Jeannine and George. She was predeceased by her son Gerard, her brother Gerald as well as her sister Alice.

Constance "Connie" Price

Tuesday morning at 7:45 am, April 12th, 2016 at the Campbellton Village Nursing Home, at the age of 83, Mrs. Constance Price of Campbellton passed on. She was the daughter of the late Blanche (Allard) and the late Martin Perkison.

She will be sadly missed by her son Mark Price of Burns Lake, BC; her grandchildren: Bonnie (Mike Matika) and great-grandson Austin of Squamish, BC, Eric Price of Vancouver, BC, Jane Price of Burns Lake, BC and Shawn Price (Sue) and great-granddaughter Jessica of Niagara Falls; her sister France Cellard of Pointe-à-la-Garde; her brother Roland "Bud" Perkison (Rose) of Richardville also by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; her children: Bonnie & Glenn; her sister and brothers: Olive, Richard, Guy and Chester.

Arthur Doyle

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on April 19, 2016 at the age of 88, Mr. Arthur Doyle of Campbellton (formerly from Cross Point), husband of Adelia (Belanger) Doyle. Born in Restigouche on June 19, 1927, son of the late Maurice Doyle and Edith Godin.

He worked as an auto mechanic, was an avid Blue Jay's Fan, a great pool player and an amazing musician.

He is survived by his wife Adelia, his son Jimmy (Leona) Doyle of Campbellton, his daughters Marilyn (Alex) MacDonald of Dalhousie Junction and Cora (Denis Allain) Doyle; and his grand children, Kevin, Adam, Evan, Kim, Guillaume & Pierre-Luc and great grand children, Aaron, Jacob, Ethan, Ben, Talia & Dax.

He was predeceased by his 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral Service will be held at Maher's Chapel in Campbellton on Saturday, April 23 at 11:00 am. Visitation at the Maher's Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne St in Campbellton on Friday, April 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 and Saturday morning at the Chapel from 10:00 am until time of funeral.

Donations to the Lung Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Shane Langford Arnold Barton

Passed away on April 20th, 2016 at the age of 63, Mr. Shane Langford Arnold Barton. Born in Campbellton on January 22, 1953, son of the late Muriel (Thompson) Barton and the late Langford Barton.

Although he worked at Bowater Mill in Dalhousie from his teenage years until its closing, Shane loved nothing more than spending time with his beloved family. He was an avid music lover and he adored every dog he ever met. He was a lifelong lover of sports, and played hockey his entire life, most recently with the Last Chance hockey team. In his retirement, he served in the Lions Club with loyalty and distinction, volunteering for many committees and leading the annual Lions Dog Guides Walk. He and Monique enjoyed spending many evenings with family and friends, including chatting around many campfires. Blessed with two sons, who he was both proud of and cherished, he and Monique travelled often to spend time with them and their families. He was an adoring and supportive father and the very best Papi in the world. Each of his grandchildren had a special place in his heart and they will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by his favorite grand-dog, Baxter.

He is survived by his loving wife Monique (Essiambre) of McLeods; his sons, Chad Barton (Sarah) of Calgary, AB and Brock (Stacy) of Vermont, USA; his sisters, Brenda Oakes (Gary) of Rothesay and Barbie Harding (Evan) of Dalhousie. Also surviving are four adoring grandchildren, Grace, Joe, Benjamin and Clark, and many nieces and nephews.

Gary Irvine

Passed away at his residence in Mann's Mountain on April 20th, 2016 at the age of 76, Mr. Gary Thomas Irvine. Born in Flatlands on September 2, 1939, son of Margaret (Mann) Irvine and the late Lionel Irvine.

He is survived by his son Ashley Irvine (Tanya) of Campbellton; his brothers, Bertie Irvine, Deering Irvine, Jarvis Irvine Lewis Irvine (Cathy), and Vaughan Irvine (Jennifer) all of Mann's Mountain; his sisters, Lois Leboeuf (Doug) of Hinton, AB, and Debbie Lagoa (Wilson) of Oakville, ON. Also surviving is one granddaughter, Maggie and Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 sisters, Ardith, Glennis and Zelda.

Pauline Anna (Dickie) Smollett

Passed away at the Campbellton Nursing Home on April 21st, 2016, at the age of 88, Mrs. Pauline Anna (Dickie) Smollett, wife of Philip J. Smollett. She was born in Campbellton on July 17, 1927, daughter of the late Price Dickie and the late Rose (Caldwell) Dickie.

She was a registered nurse (R.N.) who worked at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital for many years. She was an avid craft person; from painting, to stained glass, crocheting, quilting, needlepoint and sewing. Knitting of comfort dolls for the I.W.K. was her latest passion.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 66 years, three children: Heather Lynn Cortes, June F. Smollett and David L. Smollett, grandchildren: Phil Cortes (Valerie Boucher) and Eve Smollett, great-grandchild: Lionel Cortes, sister: Kathleen LeBlanc (Leonard) and brother: Gordon Dickie (Marilyn), many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings and their spouses; June Plumlee (Bill) (Walt Opello), Lloyd Dickie (Frances Dean), Connie Cuppage (Harold), Rosamond Wilmot (Wint), Stewart Dickie (Kay Grant), Maxwell Dickie (Joyce Borden), Arnold Dickie (Shirley Best) and Paul Dickie, an infant daughter, two nephews and a niece.

Mary (Firth) Parker

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on April 10, 2016 at the age of 82, Mrs. Mary (Firth) Parker of Campbellton and formerly of Robinsonville, wife of the late Cecil Parker.

A stay at home wife, Mary enjoyed nothing more than cooking meals for family and friends. She was an avid gardener and kept us all supplied with flowers and vegetables. She and Cecil enjoyed the outdoors and spent many days hunting and fishing. In the evenings, they would pass the time playing cards, many a good game of euchre was played in their dining room. Although never blessed with a family of her own, she was a second mother to many of her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her brother Beverly (Barbara) of Brampton, ON, and one sister Sara Mann of Robinsonville, NB, as well as many nieces & nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her mother Beulah Firth, Infant son Nevin and brother Eugene Firth.

Henry Weiman

April 23rd, 2016, Mr. Henry Weiman, 86, of Pointe-à-la-Croix, passed away at the CHSLD of Matapedia, he was the husband of Martine (LeBlanc) Weiman, and son of the late Gertrude (Schoaneich) and the late Paul Weiman. Henry Weiman Besides his wife, Martine, he will be sadly missed by his daughter Rosie (Robert Digou) of Cape Breton also by many members of the LeBlanc family, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents.
