Bessie Court Boa
It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our sister Bessie Boa, who passed away in Lachute, Quebec hospital at the age of 91.
She was born in Fleurant Point to the late William Court and Lena Starnes, Bess was the wife of the late Keith Boa of Lachute.
She was predeceased by one son Russell, three brothers, Arden, Cecil, Lester and one sister Greta Dorion.
She is survived by two sisters, Pearl of Brownsburg,QC., Myra Menzies of Dalhousie Junction, one, brother Calvin of New Richmond, sons Ronald and Stephen of Alberta, Gregorie of North Carolina and Jeffery at home, two daughters Shirley and Doris of Lachute, several, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Frank Mitchell
Passed away at the CHSLD in Matapedia on February 1, 2013 at the age of 76, Mr. Frank Mitchell of Listuguj.
He leaves to mourn his wife Vivian Sorbey, his sons Audie Mitchell, DAvid Mitchell and Galen Mitchell, daughter Gail Mitchell, his grandchildren Chianna Metallic, David Mitchell Jr., Galen Mitchell Jr. and Robert Mitchell.
Prededeased by his mother Rita Isaac and his father Thomas Mitchell.
Pallbearers; Guy Michell, Herby Martin, Bernard Isaac, Frank Sorbey, Barry Isaac and Fred Dedam. Honorary Pallbearers were Clifford Metallic, Donald Isaac, Chad Gideon, Maury Wysote, Keena Gray and Stanley Barnaby.
Jean Raymond Roussy
Jean Raymond Roussy passed away in Campbellton, on Saturday February 2, 2013 at the age of 87. He was the husband of the late Therese Boudreau. Born in July 4, 1925, he was the son of the late Edmond Roussy and of the late Helene Duguay.
He leaves in mourning his sons Jean Edmond and Michel (Raymond Furlotte), his daughters Myra, Denise and Joanne (Trevor Newton), his grandchildren Olivier, Nicolas nd Julie as well as his brothers Pierre and Albert (Betty Newell) and his sister Evelyne (Eugene Cyr).
Thomas Lapointe
The death of Tommy LaPointe of Gravelhill occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, February 5, 2013 at the age of 71. Born in Gravelhill, he was the son of the late John and Ida (Bertin) LaPointe.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn; daughter Rhonda (Brenden Hickey) of Gravelhill, son Calvert (Nadine) of Trembley; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren as well as his sister Marie Richardson.
He was predeceased by his son Oakley; brothers Brian, Johnny, Harold; sisters Julien Anderson, Lena Goulette, Leona Carrier, Ida Hickey and Viola Dickson.
Pallbearers; Randy Carrier, Oakley Bertin, Draper LaPointe, Tyrell Hickey, Leonard LaPointe and David Carrier.
Barbara Oakes
Barbara Lynn Oakes of the Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, passed away at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre while surrounded by her loving family on February 5, 2013 after a long and valiant battle with cancer at the age of 62 years.
Barbara was born on March 18, 1950 in Campbellton, NB, to parents Bill and Joyce Nichol. Barbara grew up in Charlo and graduated from high school in 1968.
After marrying her loving husband, Jim Oakes, in 1972, their journey together took them to Thompson, MB, Princeton BC , Grand Forks, BC and finally Coleman AB.
Along this journey, Barb touched and impacted many people in a positive way; as a friend, a bank teller, a secretary within the mining industry and a secretary at an elementary school. She truly loved her work with the school and looked forward to helping any child that was in need.
Barbara will be sadly missed by her loving husband Jim; her loving sons Andy (Tanya) and Tim (Tari); her cherished grandchildren Emily, Abby, Hunter, and Ryder; her parents Bill and Joyce Nichol; her sisters, Brenda Nichol and Margaret (Fenton) Yeo; her brother-in-law, Jessie Baldwin, Grace Sellick, Barbara (David) Cool and Grace Oakes; as well as her nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends.
She was predeceased by Jin's parents, Allison and Ethel Oakes; her brothers-in-law, Aloysius (Vera) Oakes, Delbert Oakes, Nick Baldwin and sister-in-law, Pat MacLeod.
Gertrude MacIvor
Announcing the passing of Gertrude Elizabeth MacIvor has occurred February 6, 2013 at the CRH age 94. Born in Blacklands, May 1918, she was the daughter of the late John MacMillan and Janet (Jennie) Miller.
She isw survived by her two sons, Smith (Wendi) and Kenneth (Jennifer) both of Kitchener, ON. Grandchildren are Scott, Katie, Robyn, and Laura, Gertrude is also survived by nephews Norris and Dr. Bryce MacMillan, and Malcolm MacKinnon along with nieces Rhonda and Dr. Vona MacMillan, and Lauren Vaughan. She is also survived by sister-in-law Thelma MacMillan as well as many cousins and close friends of the area and away.
Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Malcolm Lawrence MacIvor, LLB., her sons Malcolm, along with brothers Melvin, John (Jack) and sister Geraldine.
Born and raised in her beloved Blacklands, Gertrude graduated nursin school in 1939 and abiding by her Frlorence Nightingale Pledge she began a nursing career that exceeded forty years. In 1942 she joined the ranks of the Royal Canadian Army Corp, going overseas with the 12th General Hospital. Gertrude crossed the channel in August 1944 and was stationed in Normandy and later Brugge in Belgium. Upon returning to Canada she was stationed in Toronto's Chorley Park then later both Rivers and Fort Churchill, Manitoba.
Upon returning to NB Gertrude worked briefly as a teacher in Blacklands then continued her nursing career in Dalhousie and Campbellton, helping the veterans, some of which she had attended to in Europe. Retiring in the early 1980's, Gertrude spent her time with her many friends and family of the area. She always stayed close to her Presbyterian values, her love of the natural world, and the benefit of mankind.
The family would like to issue a heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers at the Veterans Unit of CRH, and a special salute to Gwen Nichol, Sharon Gilker, Evelyn Sinclair, and Dr. Vona MacMillan for their unselfish and uncompromising care and loyalty to our mother.
