George Culligan

After a long and good life, George A Culligan, 97, passed away in the presence of his children, on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.

George was born and spent his entire life in Culligan, New Brunswick; now a part of the Village of Belledune, where he was a prominant farmer.

He was the son of the late Honorable Arthur P Culligan and Catherine Eva Daley.

George married the late Florence E. Devereaux on January 01, 1939 at St. Gabriel's Church, Jacquet River.

He is survived by three children; Gregory, Terrance and Bernadette; son-in-law Bill Chase and grandchildren Liam and Georgia Chase; one sister Vera Devereaux; as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.

George was predeceased by his wife and parents, sons George Jr and Barry; three brothers Alvin, Theophilis and Arthur Jr; and five sisters Bernadette Shaughnessy, Isabel Burns, Charlotte Devereaux, Frances and Imelda Culligan.

Thomas MacDougall

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas MacDougall, our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. He passed away peacefully at the Campbellton Regional Hospital Veteran's Unit on Monday, July 20th, 2015.

Thomas was born on August 1, 1933 to the late Alexander MacDougall and the late Nellie Parker.

He is survived by daughters Darlene (Danny), Terrie (Victor) and son Kevin. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley Hunter and his precious baby boy of four years, Thomas Sheldon (Tom Thumb). He was also predeceased by his brothers Reginald, Norman and Raymond and his sister Violet. The funeral service will be held from Maher's Funeral Chapel, Campbellton on Thursday, July 23rd, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Thompson officiating. Interment will be at the Glen Levit United Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl Anderson, Evan Anderson, Bonar Law, Norman Fair, Randy Hunter and Ricky MacDougall. Honorary pallbearers will be Lionel Albert and Edith Fugere.

Donations may be given to the Glen Levit United Church Cemetery Fund or to the Last Post.

Barry Smissaert

Tuesday, June 9th, 2015, at the Dalhousie Nursing Home at the age of 83, passed away Mr. Barry Smissaert of Dalhousie, husband of the late Mary Smissaert. He was the son of the late Margaret (Watters) and late Harold L. Smissaert.

He will be sadly missed by his children: Chris, Diane and Randy; his 6 grandchildren, his brother Ken also by many nieces, nephew and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary and his parents.

James Andrew "Jamie" Smith

Jamie passed away suddenly at his home in Wainwright AB, where he was a welder.

He graduated from the Robotics program at Algonquin College in Ottawa and was very proud of achieving his 2nd Degree Black Belt in Canada Shindao Goju Karate while in Ottawa. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid reader and Gamer. Jamie was a very good friend to all who met him.

He leaves to mourn his parents, Ann (Savoie) Smith and Maurice Smith of McLeods, NB, and one brother Douglas Smith of Edmonton, AB. He was a Special Uncle to Eryn & Zakery Smith of Edmonton, AB, as well as the Grandson of Eileen Savoie and the Late Ben Savoie of Campbellton NB, and the late Mary and David Smith of St. Johns NL

He is survived by Aunts, Uncles and Cousins in New Brunswick & Newfoundland.

Herman Firth

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015 at the Campbellton Village Nursing Home, at the age of 82, passed away Mr. Herman Firth of Campbellton, husband of the late Linda Firth. He was the son of the late Margaret (Martin) and late Orville Firth.

He will be sadly missed by his children: Shelley Chandler (Steve) of Tide Head and Stephen (Rhonda) of Ontario; his grandchildren: Alicia and Natalie; his brother Martin of Ontario; his sister Margaret "Sis" (Ron) of Ontario also by many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Linda and his parents.

Mr. Herman Firth will rest at Savoie Funeral Home situated at 47 Alexander Street, Campbellton, on Thursday afternoon (June 25th) from 2 till 4 and evening from 7 till 9. At the request of the family, a private funeral service will be held at a later date. A donation to the Campbellton Village Nursing Home would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Daryl M. Mowat

On Wednesday, July 15th, 2015, at his residence, at the age of 83, Mr. Daryl M. Mowat of the Campbellton Soldiers Memorial Villa passed away. He was the son of the late Celia and the late Godfrey ‘Goog’ Mowat.

He will be sadly missed by his children: Dale (Cheryl) of Halifax, NS, Wayne (Nancy) of Campbellton and Susan (Robert) of Lantz, NS; his grandchildren: Neil, Jenna, Matthew (Wanda), Natasha (Rick), Jenette (Mitchell) and Janis (David); his great-grandchildren: Taryn, Sebastian, Dakota, Joshua and Lilly; his sister and brothers: Julia, Doug and Graham also by many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his son Wesley, his sister Adelaide and brothers: Bill and Glen.

Jeanne d'Arc (née Savoie) Fitzerald

C'est avez une grande tristesse que la famille Fitzgerald désire annonçer le décès de Jeanne D'Arc Fitzgerald (née Savoie), épouse de feu Clinton Fitzgerald, à l'âge de 83 ans, le 25 juillet 2015 à l'hôpital de Campbellton, N.-B.

Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Paulette, Doris, Robert, Betty, Johnny, Raymond, Larry, Denis, Diane, Normand, Mona ainsi que leurs conjoints/conjointes. Sa fille Linda vient tout récemment de la précéder le 1er juin 2015. Elle sera aussi manquée par ses 26 petits-enfants et 19 arrière-petits-enfants ainsi que plusieurs frères et soeurs.

Raymond McGarvie

On Monday, July 20th, 2015 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, at the age of 68, Mr. Raymond McGarvie of Campbellton, husband of Mrs. Cathy "Catherine" (Renouf) McGarvie, passed away. He was the son of the late Lillian McGarvie and late Doran Robichaud.

Besides his wife, Cathy, he will be sadly missed by his son Jeremy (Melissa) of Campbellton; his daughter Ashley of Campbellton and her friend Dave; his granddaughter Nathalia; his brother Denis LeBlanc (Betty) of Campbellton and his sister Nancy Gillis of Campbellton also by many members of the Renouf family, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers: Kenny and Mike.

Winston Harquail

The family of Winston Joseph Patrick Harquail regrets to announce the accidental death of Winston near Bouctouche, NB on July 21, 2015 at the age of 73.

Born in Campbellton, NB on October 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Wilfred & Irene (Blanchard) Harquail. Winston was the husband of the late Yvonne Bélanger.

Winston was a retired school teacher; he taught at the Sacred Heart Academy and LER schools in Dalhousie, and also at schools in Archibald, Benjamin River, Dalhousie Junction, Nash Creek and McLeod's Siding. He was an active teacher in Restigouche County for 25 years and an honorary member of the N.B.T.A. He was a professed member (brother) for the Oblates of Mary Immaculate and a 3rd degree member for the Knights of Columbus. He also had roles as Secretary, Minister of Communion, Lector and Sacristan at St. John Bosco; he had the same roles (except secretary) at the St. Jean Baptiste Parish and was an active member of the choir at both Parishes. He was an active member of both senior citizens home (Minister of Communion, Alter server, soloist) for 25 years. He also assisted with Meals on Wheels throughout the community.

He is survived by his son Shawn Harquail of Moncton NB, his sisters Shirley (Gabe) Lapointe of St. Catherines, ON and Marie (Chip) Marsh of Oneonta NY, USA, sister-in-law Lois Harquail of High River AB, brother-in-law Leonard Sevenson of Blacklands NB, mother-in-law Marie Belanger of Dalhousie NB, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Besides his wife & parents, he was predeceased by his sister Norma Sevenson & his brother Alonzo Harquail.

Jody Pictou

Passed away accidently on July 21, 2015 at the age of 27, Jody Pictou of Eel River Bar. Born in Dalhousie on September 28, 1987, son of Louise Traer and John Pictou.

He leaves to mourn his mother Louise Traer and father John Pictou, his children Chenoa, London, Taylor, Austin, and his stepdaughter Kinley. He also leaves his brothers and sisters Billy, Christine, Mathieu, Todd, Krista, Kyle, Dakota, Gage, Tanya, Crystal, Shanaya, Morgan, Sequoya, as well as his girlfriend Erin LeBlanc.
