Adeline "Bede" Lapointe

Adeline LaPointe (Godin), aged 78, died peacefully on October 9, 2014 at Campbellton Regional Hospital with her family by her side. “Bede“, as she was fondly known to her family and friends, was the third oldest of 18 children of her late parents Eleanore (LaPointe) and Raymond Godin. A tireless worker, she is best known for having operated LaPointe’s Shop-All in Lorne, NB with her husband David for 30 plus years, generously catering to the many needs of the entire community. Many of those years offered 7 days a week, 12 hours per day of work. After “retiring” for all of one year she returned to work operating a seasonal take-out canteen for 15 years.

Of her many hobbies, she loved picking wild strawberries with her friends….never sharing her special fields. She spent many wintry afternoons on her favourite Arctic Cat snowmobile with her husband and friends, and a tiny sip of Lonesome Charlie to keep her warm. She would then return to her wood-stove heated home, the fuel for which she and David would have cut, split and corded. She often enjoyed card games, especially auction, and she always knew how to win! She also spent an odd evening at the Bingo hall, for some reason seeming to win more often than most. An occasional trip to the casino in Halifax or Moncton was a pleasant get-away. An avid quilter, many of her heirlooms can be found in her children’s homes.

She is pre-deceased by her first husband Justin Furlotte, and her beloved youngest son Todd LaPointe. She is survived by her husband, David; her daughter Debbie Carrier (Owen), son Glen Furlotte (Jo-Ann), son Marc Furlotte, and daughter Angela (Ross); grandchildren Nicholas LaPointe, Melissa Hall (Carrier), Steven Carrier, Meaghan Furlotte and Justin Furlotte.

She is pre-deceased by her brothers Herman (Elsie) and Osmond.

She is survived by her brothers Kenneth (Doreen), Alphonse (Jeannette), Valmont (Jeannette), Maurice (Georgette), Urbain (Rose), Desmond (Linda), Audel (Nicole), Glen (Irene), Christophe (Elise), Raymond (Lisa), and sisters, Antoinette (Leo), Simonne (Clarence), Sheila (Ben), Adrienne (Normand), Rhonda (Rolf).
