First Exchange The exact date is not available but it is believed that Campbellton's first telephone exchange building was erected about the year 1899. This project was financed by the local organization and contracted by John Starr, Son & Co., of Halifax. At that time there were about 75 telephones in the use here, most of which were in the town proper. The system installed was a grounded party-line system. To be continued....... |
