Sold out in 1905 On the year 1905 the Restigouche Telephone and electric Co. sold out its electric rights to the town and its telephone business to the Central Telephone Co., which had been operating in the southern part of the province and had its head office at Sussex. About that time too the same company acquired the exchange at Bathurst, established and operated by Mr. Boss and also that of the Miramichi Telephone Co. at Newcastle, which was operated by Dr. Pedolin. Following the purchase of these interests the Central Telephone Co. built the first truck line between Campbellton and Bathurst and improved the local exchange. To be continued....... |
