Rev. Lloyd McFarlane

Rev. Lloyd G. McFarlane, 95, of Sussex, N.B., passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Suyssex Hospital. Lloyd was born in Sussex Corner in 1915, son of Leonard McFarlane an Lydia Kilpatrick.

He was commissioned in the Church Army of Canada in 1937 and became an ordained Anglican minister in 1949, after graduatin from Wycliffe College, University of Toronto. The same year he married Helen Elisabeth Curwood of Toronto and they moved to Lloyd's first parish of Kinmount, Ontario. For the next 59 years, Helen and Lloyd had a a loving partnership in rasing a family and supporting their church and communities. Over the years he seved as Rector in Mono Mills, On., Fort Frances, ont., and Campbellton, NB. They retired in 1982 to Havelock NB where they were active members of the Butternut Ridge Seniors Club. In 2005 they moved to the Anglican Church Homes in Sussex. Throughout his long career, Lloyd ministered with faith and compassion to the needs of others and he will be missed by many.

Lloyd was predeceased by Helen in 2008, brother Donald S. McFarlane and sister Louise Alward.

He is survived by children Paul (Sally) of Chicago, Gillian McNaught (Peter) of Wallbridge, Ont., and Judith Watling (Kerry) of Ottawa, grandsons D.J. Ryan, Jeremy and David; great grandson Dillon and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to Elsie Gray, Archdeacon David Barrett, the women of the Sussex Red Cross, especially Fay Freeze, Cindy Constantine and Ann Munroe, and Joanne Gregg, all of whom provided Lloyd with tremendous support and friendship.

Raymond Louis Bernier

Raymond was born on February 7, 1946 in Campbellton NB the only son of Louis and Betty Bernier. He passed way on April 2, 2011 after a lenghty battle with cancer.

Besides his loving wife Evelyn, Raymond is survived by his loving family; son Darren Bernier and his children Christopher and Jason of Hinton, Alberta, son Derek (Lydia) Bernier and their children Ryan, Justine and Drake all of Grande Cache, Alberta, daughter Catherine (Matthew) Gilbert and their children Piper and Reid all of Camrose, Alberta, and daughter Christine (Ryan) Cole and their children Boedi and Fallon of Hinton, Alberta. Raymond is also survived by his father Louis Bernier of Campbellton as well as numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Raymond was predeceased by his mother Bessie Bernier in 1997.

Raymond was a Heavy Duty Mechanic, starting his trade in Campbellton continuing to Shefferville, QC Grande Cache AB; and Hinton, AB; in the mining industry.

Irene Jones
1931-2911

Irene (Melanson) Jones, Dalhousie, NB passed away at the age of 80 at her home on Friday August 12, 2011. Born in Atholville she was the daughter of Catherine and Ulric Melanson.

She is predeceased by her husband Gerard, her son Richard an her granddaughter Hope.

She is survied by her four sons Robert (Deborah), Michel (Ghislaine) , Gerald (Nancy), Albert (Sylvie) and two dauhters Nancy (Daryl Carrier) and Lynn (Scott O'Donnell). Irene was loved by her grandchildren Denise, Afton, Paul, Kristina, Nicole, Erika, Jon-Erik, and Emma-Grace as well as by her nine great-grandchildren. Irene is survived by her brother Fred, her sister Marguerite Bois, both of Campbellton, her brother Edgar (Yvette) and her sister Adeline (Roland Poiorier) of Montreal and her sister-in-law Rita Melanson of Bathurst.

Alfred Carrier
1942-2911

Alfred Carrier of Gravel Hill passed away on July 29, 2011 at the palliative care unit in Dalhousie after a short, but heroic battle against cancer. He was 69 years old.

Born and raised in Lorne, he logged more than 50 years as a woodsman for numerous companies and contractors across the province during his half-century career as one of the North Shore regions' most respected and beloved lumberjacks.

Known for his kindness and his compassionate personality. Carrier enjoyed many hobbies including following his two favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Montreal Canadiens, as well as cooking, gardening, movies, Legion dances, picking raspberries and other fruit at his homestead, as well as countless family and social gatherings.

Carrier is survived by his son Jeffrey (Delise) of Hay Settlement, NB; his mother Elizabeth (Arseneau) of Lorne; sisters Sadie (Valmont) of Lorne and Salmone (Chester) of Belledune; brothers Ralph (Bud) of Lorne and Almond (Sammy) of Moncton; his girlfriend Johanne Page of Belledune, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was predeceased by his father Alexander; his former wife Josephine (Lapointe), his longtime companion Yvonne Martin of Atholville, as well as his brother Arnold.

Barbara Sherry Pollock

Barbara Sherry Pollock of Tide Head, passed away on July 27, 2011 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 61.

Born in Glen Levit, she was the dauhter of the late Reginald Pollock and the late Doris (Cromwell) Pollock.

Sherry was predeceased by her parents and her partner, Harold Poley. She is survived by her son, Ashley Irvine (Tanya) and her granddaughter Maggie of Campbellton, step-daughters Nancy, Sharon, Wendy and Cathy of Brampton, ON, sisters Sandra Harquail (Wendell) of Moncton and Sheila Craswell of Oshawa, ON, step-mother Ann Pollock of Campbellton, aunts Bertha Adams of Matapedia West PQ and Glennis Pollock of Moncton, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Honourary pallbearers were Ashley Irvine, Keith MacKenzie, Ryan Betteridge, Tammy Betteridge, Corey Laviolette, Robert Betteridge, Melissa Fenwick, Matt Fenwick, Barbara Craswell, Lisa Nichol and Glen Irvine. Interment in the len Levit United Church Cemetery.

Marcel Gagnon

The death of Marcel Gagnon of Jacquet River occurred on Monday, August 8, 2011 at the age of 63. Born in Ste Odile Quebec, he was the son fo the late Lucien Gagnon and the late Homerine (LePage)

He was a bricklayer by trade and was employed at Brunswick Smelter for 35 years until his retirement in 2003.

Marcel is survived by his wife Sylvie, son Rene (Tanya) of Charlo, grandchildren Michelle and Jaden, as well as his sisters Francine Gagnon of Jacquet River, Micheline Gagnon of Jacquet River and Nicole Gionet (Jacques) of Atholville.
