Dr Edmund Earl Wilkins
Dr Edmund Wilkins died at his home in Point La Nim, on December 3, 2011 at the age of 81. Ed was born in San Mateo California. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in engineering, and later, from Stanford Unversity in medicine. He practiced family medicine in Truckee, California, for several years before moving to Canada.
In Dalhousie he was the Director of the Community Health Centre. He was an Associate Professor, McGill University, for many years. After the closure of the Health Centre, Dr. Wilkins worked in Dalhousie and Campbellton until the accidental fall that forced his retirement and led to his slow decline over the last 8 years.
Ed is survived by his wife, Gail Carleton; by 4 daughters from a previous marriage; Anna Henderson, Ellen Hudson (Jim), Sara Fox (Pat), Maia Wilkins (Michael Levine); by two sons; Benjamin (Matilde Rink Jorgensen) and Zachary (Danielle Savage); by six grandchildren; Kelsey Hudson, Hannah and Eliza Henderson, Henry and Natalie Fox, Martin Levine; by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, E.E. (Duke) and Tulia Wilkins, his brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Peggy Wilkins, and his sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Bill Boaden.
Ed was an outdoorsman, never happier than when he was working in the woods, camping or skiing. A lifelong athlete, he completed a 90 km cross-country ski race in Sweden at age 70. He was a wonderful doctor, a lover of books and music, and a unique individual who will be missed by many.
Laurette (Bellefleur) Babin
Laurette (Bellefleur) Babin of l'Oasis d'Or and formerly of Shediac and Atholville, our wonderful mother, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital. She chose the sunset to softly float away as a candle in a breeze, surrounded by the love of her family, on November 29, 2011. She was married to the late Adelard Babin.
Born in Grand-Sault, she was the daughter of the late Francois and the late Olivia (Moreau) Bellefleur.
Laurette will be sadly missed by her children Ronald, (Chantal Abord-Hugon) of Moncton, Carmel (Aldo Wafer) of Gaspe and Paul Andre (Dianne Albert) of Shediac Cape; her step son Adelard Williams (Jeannette) of Charlo; her grand-children Julien and Laura Abord-Babin, Jean-Pierre, Francois and Valerie Colette; Alexandre and Maxime Babin; her great-grand-children Maude and Antoine; her sisters Therese (Jean Audet) of Charlo, Jeannine (Marc Petitclerc) of Montreal; her brother Claude (Mona Pelletier) of Ste-Marthe-sur-le-lac, QC; several nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends in Canada and France.
Marion Kelly
Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on December 6, 2011 at the age of 87, Mrs. Marion Kelly of Campbellton.
She was a life time homemaker, loved knitting, while Heather became sick, Marion got involved with the Kidney Foundation and was a member of the Anglican Church. In earlier years, she loved to have her grandchildren visiting her.
She leaves to mourn her son Pat Kelly (Karen) of Mahone Bay, NS, half brother Henry Aubie (Gilberte) of Campbellton, half sister Lisa Richardson of Campbellton. Also survived by her three grandchildren Stephane, Trevor and Tim, one great-grandchild Melinda, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Fred (2001) son Steven (1970), daughter Heather (1998) and son Mike (3008).
Simonne Parker
Simonne passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 21, 2011 at the age of 79.
Simonne was a very special grandmother and mother and will be terribly missed by her sons Rodney and Wayne Parker of Eel River Crossing, daughter Ann Bujold from Halifax, NS, their spouses, grandsons, Corey Parker, Max and Alex Bujold, Kelly anbd Logan Parker, brothers Paul McIntyre, Boucherville QC, Joseph McIntyre of Charlo and sisters Lawrence Levesque and Lucille McNair of Charlo.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Edgar Parker.
The family would like to thank the staff at Manoir in Balmoral, the special nurses at the Campbellton Regional Hospital and the Dalhousie Nursing Home for their compassion and care. Thank you also for all family and friends who came from far and near, who offered support and help to the family, who sent food, phone calls, flowers, masses, cards and the music at the funeral, and any other gestures of kindness.
