Arthur "Art" Benoit

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on December 11, 2011 at the age of 79, Mr. Arthur "Art" Benoit of Campbellton. Born in Campbellton on March 1,1932, he was the son of the late Eddy Benoit and the late Corinne Durette.

Art had many professions in his life. The two most notable were his years at the Memorial Garden where he was responsible for the general maintenance of the building. He drove the Zamboni for every event and one of his fondest memories were his Rink Rats. The second were the years he worked at the "Dog Cart". It was a gathering place for many in our community. Many stories were told and many stories will still be told of Art and the "Dog Cart".

He leaves to mourn his wife Jackie Benoit, daughters Rachelle Benoit-Leger (Luc) and Joanne Benoit both of Campbellton, sisters Helen Diotte (Alonzo), Jacqueline Legacy (Rod), Annette Allingham (Dave), Delima Parker-Bujold (Vick) all of Campbellton and Laurette Durette (Bobby) of Tide Head. Also survived by his grandchildren Liam, Lukas and Logan Leger, many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his sister Simonne Desrosiers, brothers Cyril Benoit, Fred Benoit, Leo Benoit and his parents Corinne and Edward Benoit.

Gilberta Flanagan

Passed away at the City Hospital in Moncton on December 5, 2011 at the age of 85, Mrs Gilberta Flanagan of Campbellton. Born in Atholville, she was the daughter of the late Henry Furlotte and the late Laura Ann Dugas.

She leaves to mourn her daughter Linda Flanagan (Armand) of Fredericton, sons Bryant Flanagan (Nancy) of Moncton and Dean Flanagan (Rose) of Campbellton, brother Louis Furlotte (Carol) of Atholville, sisters Jean Furlotte (Guy) of Montreal and Irene Furlotte (Marcel) of Montreal. Also survived by her grandchildren Steven Good, eric Flanagan, Amy Jane Flanagan, Ashley Flanagan, Jason Flanagan and Austin Flanagan, many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband Edward Flanagan.

Gordon Earle Gerrard

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of ordon Earle Gerrard who passed away at the Campbellton Village Nursing Home on December 6, 2011 at the age of 81.

Born in Campbellton on March 19, 1930, he was the son of the late Henry and Theresa (Callaghan) Gerrard.

Earle lived in Tide Head until 1982 when he was transferred to Moncton with CN Rail where he lived for 28 years.

He was an active member of Saint Andrews United Church in Tide Head where he served on the Board of Stewards and as an Elder. When transferred to Moncton in 1982 he joined Humphrey Memorial Church and became involved there. He was well known for greeting the people who attended the pancake breakfasts at the Church. Earle was a member of the Campbellton and Moncton Masonic Lodges and also a dedicated Shriner. He was made an honorary member of Luxor Shrine February 2011. He was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion and participated in the annual sale of poppies, member of CN Pensioners Club and a lifetime member and staunch supporter of the PC Party. Earle was inducted as an honorary life member of the NB PC Party in recognition of outstanding service and dedication to the Association on October 26, 2002. He was dubbed Čarle the perle`by many of his friends in the party and elesewhere. Earle was an avid hockey fan and missed very few games. He will be sadly missed by all.

Survived by his wife Viola (Pentland), son Allan (Pamela) of Quispamsis, his sister Maxine Price (Murray) , several nieces and nephews as well as sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers Pilot Officer Robert Allan in 1944 and Kenneth (late Doris) sister Joyce (late John) Galbraith and Isobel (late Tom)

Pallbearers were dAvid Wisener, Wayne Mann, Val Stewart, Cecil Aucoin, Jim Babcock and Bill Harvey.

Marcel R. Arsenault

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on December 8, 2011 at the age of 72. Mr Marcel Arsenault of Richardsville. Born in Campbellton on March 14, 1939, he ws the son of the late Joseph N. Arsenault and the late Madeleine Francoeur.

He leaves to mourn his wife Irene, his sons Ronald (Denise) of Moncton, Claude (Tammy) of Edmonton and Gilles (Denise) of Moncton, his brothers Fernand (Noella) Montreal, Alfred (Francine) Nominingue, QC, Maurice (Chantal) Montreal, Leo Maguasha, QC., Lionel (Rosa) Richardsville, Philippe (Suzanne) Richardsville, Roderique (Nicole) Montreal, Roger (Monique) Atholville and Michel (Therese) Richardsville, his sisters Angelique (Jules deceased) Jeannine (William) , Aline (Omer) all of Montreal and Rose Aimee (Camille) Tide Head. Also survived by his five grandchildren Daniel, Mathieu, Alex, Veronique and Marc, nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his brother Jean Guy.

The family of the late Marcel Arsenault wishes to express their appreciation for the kindness shown to us during this difficult time. Thank you to those who expressed kind words, sent cards and flowers, and gave donations to the Mary Queen Parish. A heartfelt thanks to Father Claude Benoit and Father Emuile Godin for a wonderful Church Service, the Pallbearers, staff of the Palliative Care unit of the Campbellton Regional Hospital all the women and men that took time to prepare the reception after the service.

Sarah Jane Christie
1912-2011

Passed away at the Palliative Care unit Dalhousie on December 11, 2011 at the age of 99. Sarah Jane Christie, wife of the lat eGeorge d. Christie of Dalhousie.

Born in Eel River Crossing, she was the daughter of the late William Hamilton and Sarah Jane Perrot.

She is survived by son Bruce (Bernice) of Tilsonburg, ON., daughters Dorothy Elizabeth Jones (Rev. James Peter) of Brockville, ON., Sarah Jane (Sally) Sayne (eoffery) of Ivy Lea, ON., randchildren Heather Pelland, Christie Webster, Kimberly Barlow, Peter Andrew Jones, great grandchildren Renee and Elyse Pelland, Jack Paige. Geoffery Webster, Sarah and Chelsea Barlow, Peter Michael Jones.

Predeceased by husband George D. Christie (1974) and grandson Rev. James David Jones, George D. Christie was the former Owner, Editor and Publisher of the Dalhousie News.

Sarah was known by many as the `Hat Lady`was a lifetime member of St Mary`s Anglican Church in Dalhousie which she loved dearly. She volunteered for many years with the Hospital Auxiliary in Dalhousie and a member of I.O.D.E. Her passion was knitting and Petty Point.
