Daniel William Nichol
The death of Daniel William Nichol (73) of Black Point, N.B. occurred Monday, January 28, 2008 at Campbellton Regional Hospital. Born in Black Lands, N.B., Dan moved to Guelph, Ontario in 1940, then returned to N.B. in 1962 where he remained until his time of death. He was the son of the late Angus William and Lillian Martha Nichol (Miller). Dan worked at Guelph Stove Company; Harding Carpets; and Federal Wire. While living in N.B. he was a self employed carpenter and Fisherman until his retirement in 1997. Ten years following retirement he traveled to Calgary to assist his son (Danny) in his construction business.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Nichol (Vincent) of 51 years, their children Debbie Ogden (Barry) Saint John, N.B.; Heather Woodside (Bruce) Surrey, B.C.; Danny Nichol (Linda) Calgary, Alberta; .Jimmy, Toronto, Ontario; Lillian Carrier (Rickey) of Black Point, N.B.; and Darcey (Heather) Black Point, N.B. His grandchildren Christopher and Joshua Ogden, Saint John; Chet (Queann) and Tanya Woodside, Surrey, B.C.; Nicole Nichol (Chris), Calgary; Timmy, Laura, Andy and James Nichol, London, Ontario; and Shawn, Ryan and Sandra Carrier, Black Point, N.B. He has 3 great grandchildren (Rein, Natalia and Trystin). His siblings Lydia Welsh, Guelph, Ontario; John Nichol, Black Lands, N.B.; Donald Nichol (Maria) (Barb), Guelph, Ontario; Viola Diodati, Niagra Falls, Ontario; and Boyd Nichol (Jean), Guelph, Ontario. Several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter Mary and siblings Margaret Cunningham, Guelph, Ontario; Roberta Millard, New Liskeard, Ontario; and Robert Stanley, London, Ontario.
Funeral service was held at Zion United Church, New Mills, N.B., officiated by Reverend Don Fairweather, on Saturday February 2, 2008. Pallbearers were Doug MacCurdy; Rayburn Doucett; Levi Noel; Joey Noel; Ian Hamilton and Finley Cook.

Donald Richard (Dick) Firth
Donald Richard (Dick) Firth, of Flatlands, passed away, unexpectedly, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the age of 81. Born on July 18, 1926 he worked for the Canadian National Railway for 40 years. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No.19. A dedicated husband, father and grandfather, he was an avid fisherman and hunter but also enjoyed photography, coin collecting and genealogy.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Hazel (Alford) Firth; two sons: John (Joy) Firth of Tide Head and Richard (Shirlee) Firth of Dalhousie; two sisters: Rita McDavid of Tide Head and Margaret Gamache of Toronto, Ont.; eight grandchildren: Aaron, Daniel, Laura, Ricky, Samantha, Christopher, Katie and Michaela; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Robert Firth; mother Martha Jane (Irvine) Firth; one brother, John Robert (Jack) Firth; two sisters: Vivian McDavid and Roberta (Bobby) Firth; and daughters Shirley, Vera, Marilyn and one unnamed daughter stillborn.
The funeral service was held from Maher's Funeral Chapel, Campbellton, on Monday, January 28 at 2 pm. with Rev. Raymond Kraglund and Rev. Byrne Crooks officiating. Hymns sung were 'How Great Thou Art' and 'Great Is Thy Faithfulness'. Soloist, Beverly Kaine sang 'The Old Rugged Cross' accompanied by organist Colleen Kaine. Words of Remembrance were brought by son, Richard, grandson, Ricky, and granddaughter, Samantha. Pallbearers were Peter McDavid, Curtis McDavid, Vernon McDavid, Dale Saunders, Keith White and Ian Wallis. Honorary Pallbearers were Carl Dobson, Everett Porter, Daryl Irvine, Gerald Prentice, Donald Pollock, William Anderson, Doc Berthelot, Donald McDavid and Murphy Felix. Interment this Spring at the Campbellton Rural Cemetary.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Kidney Foundation of Canada or charity of choice in the memory of Donald Richard Firth.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
Georgette Ouellette
Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on January 27, 2008 at the age of 62, Mrs.Georgette (Tiette) Ouellette. Born in Dalhousie on April 18, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Willie Doucet and Lea Lapointe.
She leaves to mourn her two children Sandra (Gerald Dugas) and Jean Guy (Monique Leclair), her two grandchildren Ryan and Kaylee, her friend Raymond Synette, her mother Lea Doucet, her sister Marie Ange (Roch McIntyre) and her brothers Roger Lapointe (Jackie) and Bertrand Doucet (Corinne). Predeceased by her husband George (Doddy) Ouellette and her father Willie Doucet.
The funeral mass was held from St. Trinity Church Eel River Crossing, Wednesday January 30th at 4pm. Father Lanteigne officiating.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Balmoral.
Harvey LaPointe
Chamberlain Settlement, NB - Harvey LaPointe, 66, formerly of Abraham Road, Chamberlain Settlement, passed away on January 22, 2008 at the Dalhousie Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Walter and Cecile (Lagacy) LaPointe.
He worked as a truck driver for Eddy's for most of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Alma (Boucher) LaPointe.
Two daughters: Francine Smith (Terrence) of Charlottetown, PEI and Allison Vienneau (Richard) of Bathurst. One son:
Frankie LaPointe (Rachel) of Bathurst. Six sisters: Lovena Anderson, Patsy Schoolcraft, Florence Galliah and Antoinette Brown, all of Bathurst, Alice McLean (Donald) of Ste Anne and Anne Parker (Maurice) of Campbellton. 6 grandchildren; Joshua, Jason, Justin, Lucas, Tanner, Chelsey, several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a brother; Frank and a sister; Claudia Bourdage.
Funeral Mass was celebrated on January 25, 2008 from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, East Bathurst in the spring. Donations to a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements were in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Kenneth L. Guthrie
Kenneth L. Guthrie 87 of Moncton, with his loving family at his side, passed away suddenly at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Thursday, January 24, 2008. Born in Montreal, he was the son of the late Robert and Susan (McLeod) Guthrie. Ken was a Veteran of WWII, served overseas with the Royal Canadian Navy aboard HMCS Prince Henry and Iroquois. Following the war, he served aboard HMCS Quebec, Bonaventure, Nootka and Annapolis (and was honorably released from service, July 1971). In civilian life, he retired as Electrical Inspector for the New Brunswick Department of Labour (1972 - 1987). Forty years after the war, he and other members of the Canadian Navy were the recipients of the Peace Medal from Russia (1985) for their bravery in keeping the supply lines open to Russia during WWII and he was also the recipient of the Pacific Star and the Atlantic Star medals. He was a member of the Moncton Legion and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Ken was also a member of the UCT and a member of the Federal Superannuates National Association, NATO Veterans Organization and the Moncton Community Residences Inc. Ken was a car enthusiast, enjoyed baseball, curling, hockey, music (Jazz), but first and foremost, was spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Ken will be sadly missed by his wife of over 61 years, Malvina (Flanagan); daughter, Christina Guthrie (Mark Pugh), Moncton; sons, Robert (Jane Ogilvie), Fredericton, Kenneth, Moncton; grandchildren, Sara, Jane, Susan, Kevin, Graeme, Ellen; several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Gladys and Christina; brothers, Robert and Norman.
No visitation by request. Moncton Legion # 6 Memorial Service, Sunday, January 27, 2008, 2:00 pm, at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), followed by the funeral service, Rev. Brent Ham officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Campbellton Rural Cemetery.

Marion Mae Robertson
Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on January 25, 2008 at the age of 78, Marion Mae Robertson. Born in Campbellton on March 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Robertson and the late Stella Lemore.
She leaves to mourn her brother Russell Robertson (Connie) of Etobicoke, Ontario. Also survived by special niece Margot Fugere, several other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Stella and James Robertson, sister Mona Fugere, brothers Roscoe and Merlin Robertson.
The funeral service was held from Maher's Funeral Home Campbellton on Saturday January 26th at 3pm. Reverend Arnold Godsoe officiating. Interment will take place at the Campbellton Rural Cemetery in the spring.

Nicole Gagnon
The death of Nicole Gagnon of Nash Creek occurred suddenly at her residence Friday January 25, 2008 at the age of 37. Born in Nash Creek, the daughter of Roger Gagnon and Diane (Faulds).
Nicky was pre-deceased by her grandparents Jimmy Faulds and Blanche (Audet) as well as Hector Gagnon and Sylvia (LaPointe).
Her funeral was held from St. Joseph Church, Nash Creek Wednesday January 30, 2008 officiated by Father David Ferguson with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery Nash Creek in the spring. Pallbearers were Romeo Gagnon, Jeremy Gamble, Teenie Faulds, Natalie Babin, David Gamble and Trent Ford. Stan Harris
1923-2008
The passing of Stan Harris of Dalhousie (Darlington), NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Wednesday, January 30, 2008. He was 84. Born August 13, 1923 in Chatham, NB, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Miller) Harris. He spent his working life as a bricklayer, employed, for the most part at NBIP. A veteran of WWII and the Korean War, Stan served in the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a 53 year continuing member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Dalhousie Branch No. 17. Stan enjoyed playing hockey as a goalie and continued to do so to around 40 years of age. He loved to sing and found great enjoyment entertaining his family and friends.
Stan is survived by his wife Cynthia (Chapman) Harris, they were days from their 49th Anniversary; children, David Roy (Violet) of Stittsville, Ont.; Brenda Senechal (Ronnie) of Dalhousie, Derek Roy (Susan) of Innisfail, Alberta, Megan Roy-O'Brien (Brendan) of Caledon East, Ont., Sharon Harris (Terry Smith) of Dalhousie and Heather Creaser (Eben) of Long's Creek, NB; 11 grandchildren, 3 great granddaughters and I great great grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Stan was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been predeceased by five siblings.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Maher's Funeral Home, 421 Victoria St., Dalhousie, NB on Monday, February 4, 2008 from 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am from St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church with Father Bill Arsenault as celebrant. Interment at a later date. www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
Wilfred J. Lutes
1929-2008
Wilfred John Lutes passed away suddenly, but peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Patricia Mae, his son Derek (Heather), daughter Deborah (Ronald) Chirka, three loving grandchildren, Samantha, Daniel and Madison, sisters Joyce Allison, Beth Ferguson, and sister-in-law Joyce Lutes, many cousins, nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Barbara "Jesse" as well as his brother Rupert. He will be greatly missed buy his family and friends, especially because he was known for his wit, his great sense of humor and his gift of gab. At his request no visitation or service will be held.
Following cremation, a private interment will be held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society and The Friends of The Moncton Foundation or the Shediac Division of the Extra Mural would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all the girls in the Shediac Division of Extra Mural Care.
