Verna Gaudin Nicol

Verna Gaudin Nicol, 82, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at the CLSC Malauze in Matapedia. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Nicol of Sillarsville. Born on September 7, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Medora Hunter and Stanley Gaudin. Verna is survived by her children Lynn, Wayne (wife Arlene), and Gwen (husband Roy); her grandchildren - Cindy (husband Patrick) and Robert (and their mother Linda and friend Larry), Joshua and Aaron; and great grandchildren Amanda, Tyler, Daniel and Kyra; her step-grandchildren- Colin, David, Sheldon, Lana, Margaret and families; her siblings - sister Helen (husband Harvey), brother Lyle (wife Kathleen); surviving in-laws Merle, Ruth , Anita and Viola; and her many nieces and nephews. Verna was also predeceased by her sister Wanda, her brothers Rayburn, Maylon, Milo, and Ken and step-father, Chester Court. She will also be missed by her many friends and neighbors of 60 years including Christine, Jean Frances, Eveline, Gertie and Viola. Verna was an active community member serving her church through United Church Women, teaching Sunday School and participating in choir activities. She also enjoyed the time she shared with her many friends in the work of the Women's Institute. The funeral was held at the Maher's Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellton on Saturday, January 17, officiated by the Rev. Jim Postlethwaite. The organist was Ruth Nicol. Pallbearers were Joshua Nicol-Macdonald, Tyler Arsenault, Patrick Smith, and David, Sheldon and Colin Montgomery. Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Murray Lavigne

The death of Murray Lavigne of Lorne occurred suddenly at his residence, Feb. 2nd, 2009 at the age of 65. Born in Lorne, he was the son of the late Frank Lavigne and the late Theresa (Carrier). He is survived by his wife Winnifred Winnie (Dempsey), Daughter; Suzanne LaPointe (Chris) of Doyleville, Sons; Pierre (Lesley) of Doyleville, Sylvio (Vanessa) of Jacquet River, five grandchildren, brothers; Alex and Delphis, Sisters; Joyce, Leona and Doris. He was pre-deceased by two brothers Leo and Norman. His funeral was held from St. Marie Goretti Church, Lorne, Thursday Feb. 5th, 2009 officiated by Father David Ferguson. Pallbearers were Yvon Legacy, Lionel Grimes, Claude Maltais, Woods, Colton and Shawn Lavigne. Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillans Funeral Home, Black Point.

Donalda MacLean
1929 - 2009

Saddened by the death of Mrs. Donalda (Donnie) MacLean at the age of 80 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital after a brave battle with cancer. Wife of Lloyd MacLean of Dalhousie and daughter of the late Leroy and Murielle Gilmore. She will be sadly missed by her husband Lloyd, daughters Darla (Billy Audfroid), Nancy (Mike Gallie), son Gary (Denise Boissonneault), sister Helen Gray, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many friends. Always remembered as nanny to grandchildren Jennifer, Ryan, Michael, Kelly, Cody, Jeffrey and Keith. Predeceased by son Brian, sister Marg, brother Ron, nephews Ricky and Billy and grandson Derek. The funeral service was held at St. John's United Church in Dalhousie by Reverend Don Fairweather on Saturday February 7th at 2pm. Burial will be at the New Mills Cemetery in the spring. How lucky for the rest of us that God gave the world a wonderful person like you. Rest in Peace. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.

Murdock Irvine

Passed away at the CHUS Flerimont, Sherbrooke, QC on February 2, 2009 at the age of 79 years. Beloved husband of Gladys Craswell. Dear father of Cathy (Thomas Bergmann), Karen (Lawrence Organ), Diane, Janet (Ralph Jacobs), Gwen (Gervais Binette), Tracy and Julie and his eleven grandchildren. Murdock also leaves to mourn his brothers and sisters Russell Irvine (Wanda), Helena Lyons (late Norman), Graydon Irvine (late Mary), Marina Payne (late Charlie). He was predeceased by his sisters Bertha Harvey (late Elmer) and Isobel Mann (late Weston). He also leaves to mourn his brother-in-laws and sister in-laws Glen and Shirley Craswell, Betty and Jack Adams, Freida and Alfred Harvey, Denzil and June Craswell and Boyd and Julie Craswell. A service will be held in Campbellton New Brunswick at a later date. As a tribute to his memory, donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Quebec, 2630, rue King Ouest, bureau 100 Sherbrooke, Quebec J1J 2H1 would be greatly appreciated by the family. Victor Hickey

The death of Victor Hickey of Lorne occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital Friday,Jan,2009 at the age of 63. Born in Doyleville,he was the son of Charles Hickey and Opal (Godin). Victor was an employed at Brunswick Mines and was a member of Pope Logan Hunting and Fishing Club. He is survived by his wife Alphonsine Carrier, daughters; Barb Degrechie of Black Point and Sylvette Hickey of Dalhousie, sons; Gordon Hickey of Doyleville, Shawn Carrier of Dalhousie; two granddaughters; Amy Dickie and Samantha Dickie, brothers; Herman, Percy, Brendon, Earl, Terrance and Claude as well as his sisters; Vera Godin, Effie Salmon, Beatrice Arsenault, Joan Hickey, Muriel Russell, Hilda Carrier, Marilyn LaPointe and Jeannie Carrier as well as several nieces and nephews, friends and acquaintances. He was predeceased by his brother Clary and sister Connie. His funeral was held from St. Maria Goretti Church Lorne, Feb. 03, 2009 officiated by Father David Ferguson.
