Alice Frenette

Passed away at the Restigouche Senior Citizens Home in Dalhousie on January 30, 2007, Mrs. Alice Frenette, wife of the late Edgar Frenette (1969).

Born in Carleton on March 31, 1910 to the late Edmond LeClerc and Emma (Barriault), she leaves to mourn her brother Alphonse (Jeannine) LeClerc of Carleton, two sisters Jeanne (Montréal) and Christiane Landry (Hull), four daughters Doris (Ronnie Button) Dalhousie, Lydia (David Cannon) Penbrooke ON, Isabelle (Raymond Gauvreau) Dalhousie, Florence (Maurice LeBlanc) Pointe Verte, two sons Réginald (Patty) Dalhousie, Germain (Géraldine) Campbellton, also 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her son Wilbrod (2002) (Mary) and grandson Jacques (1978).

The funeral mass was held from Saint John Baptist Church in Dalhousie, on Saturday February 3rd at 11am. Father Réjean Landry officiating.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.

Antonia Fontaine

Passed away on February 3, 2007 at the age of 94, Mrs. Antonia Fontaine (born Levesque) wife of the late Edouard Fontaine, mother of Yvette LaPointe (Arthur) and Lionel Fontaine (Margaret Ann) from Eel River Crossing.

She leaves to mourn 2 sisters Délianne Savoie from Dalhousie and Lina Maltais from Eel River Crossing, 5 grandchildren Diane Lacombe from Ottawa, Murielle Pelletier from Edmundston, Lise Zakrensky from Dundee, Edward Fontaine from Eel River Crossing and Michael Fontaine from Dalhousie. Predeceased by her grandson Ronald LaPointe and her son-in-law Théodore LaPointe. She also leaves to mourn 6 great grandchildren Marie-Josée, Marc-André, Véronique, Jason, Julie and Keegan, as well as one great great grandson Cole.

The funeral mass was held from Saint Trinity Church Eel River Crossing, on Monday February 5th at 4pm. Father Lanteigne officiating.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Balmoral.

Charles Hubert Boudreau

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on February 9, 2007 at the age of 82, Mr. Charles Hubert Boudreau of Cross Point, QC.

He leaves to mourn his daughter Sylvie (Gary) Savoie, his sons Jean (Fabienne Marcotte) Boudreau, Edouard Boudreau and André (Manon) Boudreau, his sisters Florine, Régina, Florence and Serena, his brothers Clarence, Hector, Ralph, Alvin and Wilfred, also 2 grandchildren Alexandra and Audrey-Anne. Predeceased by his wife Thérèse, his brothers and sisters.

The funeral mass was held from St-Hélène Church Cross Point, on Monday February 12th at 10am Quebec time. Father Delvida officiating. The pallbearers were the Knight of Columbus. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Gary Wallace Henderson

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden, unexpected passing of Gary W. Henderson, on Tuesday, February 6th, at his home in New Maryland. Born on June 3rd, 1956, in Campbellton, NB, he was the son of Marjorie Trites and the late Wallace Henderson.

He was a graduate of the Saint John Community College, and was employed as an engineering technician with the University of New Brunswick upon moving to Fredericton in 1978. For the last ten years he had been working as a laboratory technologist with the Climate Change research group at Natural Resources Canada, Canadian Forest Service. Gary was a beloved husband of 27 years to Cindy (nee Gaudett, formerly of Black's Harbour) and beloved father to Ian.

He was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman with a close- knit group of friends who shared his passion for the outdoors. He was also an enthusiastic card player, and spent many enjoyable evenings at East Long Lake and French Lake with his regular cards partners. Gary also had a passion for travel, and he and his family enjoyed many trips to theme parks, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Mexico. We thank God for the many memories we have of these happy times.

Gary was always there to help a friend or neighbour in need, and will be sadly missed by his community and co-workers. He was also a member of the United Church in New Maryland.

He is survived by wife, Cindy and son, Ian at home, mother, Marjorie Trites and brother, Ron Henderson of Campbellton, brother, John Henderson of Miramichi, and brother, David Henderson (Lori) of Dalhousie, JCT, and niece, Hanna Grace; several aunts and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Wallace; sister, Ann, and infant sister, Janet.

Visitation was held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Thursday, February 8th, 2007, and Friday, February 9th, 2007. The funeral service was held at the New Maryland United Church on Saturday, February 10th, 2007, with Rev. Bill MacLeod officiating. Interment will be at a later date.

Georgina Metallic

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on February 7, 2007 at the age of 71, Mrs. Georgina Metallic of Listuguj.

She leaves to mourn her daughters Patsy (Gerald) Johnson of Dundee, Dawn (Carl) Bouchereau Araura ON, Joyce (Rene) Metallic Listuguj, Carol (David) Caplin Listuguj, Mabel Metallic Listuguj and Connie (Scott) Martin Listuguj, her sisters Angie Lind Isaac Listuguj, Diana Condo Listuguj and Theresa Isaac Listuguj, her brothers James (Violet) Isaac Listuguj and Poncho (Hélène) Isaac Listuguj. Also survived by 21 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Louis Albert Metallic, 1 son Michael Metallic, 3 sisters Shirly Brisk, Verbine Barnaby and Mary Isaac, 3 brothers Hubert Isaac, Ernie Isaac and Hector Isaac.

The funeral mass was held from Ste Anne's Church Listuguj, on Friday February 9th at 3pm. Father Landry officiating.

James (Jim) Stewart

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on January 26, 2007, at the age of 72. Born in Campbellton, Jim lived all his life in Dalhousie.

Jim will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Jean (Hamilton); his sons Robbie (Sherry) and Charles (Kyah) and special nephew Troy Hamilton (Michelle); also his beloved grandchildren Timmie, Katie and Cortney Stewart, and Jayden Hamilton, who were the loves of his life. He is also survived by his three sisters, Catherine Kendall (Clarence) of Ayer's Cliff, Quebec, Jean Stefano of Sherbrooke, Quebec, and Patricia Brown of Fredericton, N.B.; sisters-in-law Joyce (Bill) Nichol and Mildred Baskin of Charlo, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Gertrude (Miller) Stewart.

He graduated from Dalhousie High School then went on to study at Mount Allison University, Sackville, N.B. and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in 1960. Jim worked in the Engineering Dept. at N.B. International Paper Co. in Dalhousie until 1963 when he left to take over his late father's construction business, Charles M. Stewart Co. Ltd., which he managed until he retired in 1992, due to ill health.

Jim was a member of St. John's United Church in Dalhousie; originally a Charter Member of the Dalhousie Lion's Club; he also served on the Board of the Dalhousie Regional Library. He was an avid baseball fan, and during High School days played for the Dalhousie Dodgers. One favorite past-time during his long illness was watching the baseball games on TV, and he enjoyed the daily chats with all his buddies who would stop along the way to spend some time with him, both on Goderich Street and later at the Anderson Apartments on Montgomery St. He treasured these times of swapping stories and getting the latest news.

Funeral service was held in St. John's United Church on Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Roland Hutchinson officiating; Music was rendered by Rose Heinstein with members of several church choirs from the area assisting. Piper Craig Caldwell played "Amazing Grace" during the Processional and "Going Home" for the Recessional. The United Church Women provided the reception following the Service.

Funeral arrangements were in the loving care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie. Burial of the Urn will take place at the Dalhousie Riverview Cemetery Extension, New Mills at a later date.

Marthe Drapeau

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on January 31, 2007 at the age of 8, Mrs. Marthe Drapeau.

She leaves to mourn her daughter Geraldine (Gérard Ouellette) Balmoral, her sons Claude (Claudette) Moncton et Michel (Jocelyne) Balmoral, three sisters Alice (Alex) Marcoux Charlo, Berthile (Aimé) Paradis Magog QC et Germaine (Alonzo) Drapeau Baie Comeau, two brothers Emmanuel (Emelia) Caraquet et Benoit Chouinard Tracadie-Sheila. She is survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Arcade, a son Gilbert, her father Albert Chouinard, her mother Valérie Chouinard (Thériault), Emilien Chouinard Balmoral, Ernest Chouinard (Eugenie) Balmoral, Adrienne (Eugène) Bourgon Montréal, Maria Duquenne (Archille) Eel River Crossing and Berthe (Léon) Beaudoin QC.

The funeral mass was held from Ste Trinity Church Eel River Crossing, on Friday February 2nd. Father Lanteigne officiating.

Paul Arthur Arseneault

In November, 2006, Paul Arthur Arseneault passed away in Montreal. Son of the late Ellen (Gilbert) Arseneault and the late Benoit J. Arseneault, brother of the late Maxine. R.I.P.

Samuel (Sam) LeBel

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on February 2, 2007 at the age of 76, Mr. Samuel (Sam) LeBel, husband of Ida Michaud LeBel.

Born in Grand Falls, NB on July 19, 1930 he was the son of the late Alex LeBel and Vina Boie. Sam was married to Ida for over 50 years. He worked as a bodyman for almost 40 years. He was a member of the U.C.T. for over 25 years and a member of the golden age club.

He leaves to mourn his wife Ida Michaud LeBel, his 3 sons Réal (Carole) Campbellton, Fernand Guy Pointe à la Garde et Guy Campbellton, 2 daughters Mona LeBel Poitras (Gerald) Fort Saskatchewan Alberta and Joane (Roger) Bathurst, NB, 7 grandchildren Pascale, Christian, Natasha, Maya, Guy Jr LeBel and Daniel Poitras, 6 great grandchildren Brigitte, Allain, Christoper, Rylee, Daniel and Audrey, 1 sister Suzanne Michaud Cranbrook, BC. He will also be missed by 2 sisters-in-law Eva Doucette (Fernand) St-Leonard and Wilda Côté Florida, 5 brothers-in-law Paul Michaud Grand Falls, Lewis Michaud Montreal, QC, Lawrence Michaud La Chut, QC, Leon Michaud Green Field Park, QC and Jean Michaud of Laval, QC as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Predeceased by his parents, 3 step brothers Alban, Noah and Alfred Rossignol, 1 sister Ida LeBel (1955), 1 granddaughter Brigitte LeBel (1987), 1 sister-in-law Aline Aube and 1 brother-in-law Théo Côté. The funeral mass was held from Our Lady of Snow Church Campbellton, on Tuesday February 6th at 4pm. Father Morrison, Father LeBlanc and Father Benoit officiating.
