Denis Parent
1952 - 2006
Rodney Parent
1938 - 2006

It was with great sadness and shock that the communities of Miguasha and Escuminac learned the news of the deaths of two local brothers. Denis Parent passed away in Trois Rivières on December 17, 2006 from a brain aneurysm. Older brother Rodney Parent passed away on December 20, 2006 in Chateauguay after a very brief and heroic battle with cancer.

Denis was born on September 21, 1952. He left the region to work in Montreal in the early 1970's. The construction wave took him to west to Alberta for some years and then back to Saint Anne de Bellevue. The past 10 years were spent working in the Nouvelle/Carleton area.

Rodney was born on March 27, 1938. As a teenager he moved to the Montreal area and drove transport trucks for many years throughout Canada and the United States. The past 10 years were spent in Indiana. He had recently realized his dream of owning a house and property on the Escuminac River. Rodney is survived by his loving and devoted daughters Carol, Noella and Sarah Jane, all of the Montreal area. He is also survived by his son-in-law Mike and grandchildren Ashley and Mikey. Both are survived by their father, Alderic Parent, of Miguasha, brothers Percy (Annie) of Mirabel, Mervyn (Betty) of Miguasha, Albin (Murielle) of Nouvelle, Norman of Escuminac, Vincent (Suzanne) of Nouvelle, sisters Mona of Miguasha and Susie of Yellowknife, NWT. They are also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts and plenty of friends. Their mother Eliza Wafer passed away in 1977 and their brother Allan in 1981.

Both Denis and Rodney were well known for their love of music and their keen sense of humor. You could always count on them to entertain at family parties and local gatherings. Their diverse musical talents, unique story telling along with their friendly manner will be missed by many throughout the area. Funeral services were held in Nouvelle on December 28. Burial will take place in the spring at the Nouvelle Cemetery.

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others. Pericles
