George Collier Cumming

Passed peacefully away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on February 17th, 2009, George Collier Cumming husband of the late Stella Donna Cumming (nee Butt) 86 Restigouche Drive, Tide Head. He was born December 5th, 1922 in St. John's Newfoundland and Labrador, only son of George Cumming, of Langholm Scotland and Alice Maud Cumming (nee Field) of St. John's, Nfld and Lab. He is survived by son George Ian and Daughter-in-law Terri of Cornwall, PEI, grandchildren Misty G. MacKenzie and husband Garth of St. Catherines, PEI; Amber D. Brooks and husband Donald (DJ) of Beamsville, Ont; Holly G. Cumming and husband Adam (AJ) of Charlottetown, PEI and Great-grandson Ryan MacKenzie of St. Catherine's PEI, Sister-in-law Marjorie Hall of Fredericton, NB and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughters Carol and Rosalind, sisters Jean Moore and Frederica Murphy of St. John's NFLD and Labrador. He was employed for thirty-five years at the Fraser Pulp Mill in Atholville, NB. For many years a member of Anglican Christ Church where he served as a layreader, warden and member of the Vestry. In addition he was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Campbellton, NB and St. John's NFLD and Labrador as well as a member of the Caledonian Society of Restigouche where he served for a period of time as president and on the restoration committee of the Atholhouse Cemetery. In 2007 he was named Scot of the Year by the Caledonian Society. Funeral services took place Saturday, February 21st, 2009 from Anglican Christ Church, Campbellton, NB, conducted by the Reverend Arnold Godsoe. Interment to take place at the Campbellton Rural Cemetery at a later date. Bagpipe selections were played by piper Archie Babcock. Pallbearers were Don Thompson, Owen Firth, Gordon Harris, Jerry Woodworth, Gerald Doucet and Jackie Mann. Honorary Pallbearers were Wallace Perley, Everett MacKinnon, Mike Mahoney, Fred Melanson and Ulton McGaghey. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Mary Blomquist

The death of Mary Blomquist of Charlo occured at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the age of 97. Born in Doyleville, she was the daughter of the late William Cook and the late Eliza (Firth). Mary is survived by her sons, George of Ottawa, Eldon (Judy) of Sudbury, Willie (Noella) of Charlo; daughters, Ingrid Paulin (Amedee) of Dalhousie Junction, Barbara Jean Babin (Edgar) of Welland, ON, Wanda Jones (Walter) of Charlo, Norma Roy (Floyd) of Charlo and Audry Blomquist of Charlo. She is also survived by her sister, Diana (Betty) McKenzie of Grimsby, ON, nineteen grandchildren, twenty nine great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edward; grandsons, Gordon Blomquist and Darryl Fournier; brothers, Archie, Danny (Buddy), William (Billy), Cecil, as well as her sisters, Gladys Moore and Beulah Blair. Her funeral was held from St.John's United Church, Dalhousie, Saturday, February 14, 2009 officiated by Rev. Don Fairweather. Pallbearers were Darren Fournier, Kevin Babin, Korey Blomquist, Phil Hardy, Daren LaPointe and Jack Horsman. Honorary pallbearers were Don Smearer, Finley Cook, Alan Cook, Bert Blair, Bobby Cook, Nick Yanyk, Amedee Paulin, Floyd Roy, Walter Jones and Edgar Babin. Sylvester Godin

The death of Sylvester Godin of Lorne occurred suddenly at his home Thursday, Feb.12th, 2009 at the age of 85. Born in Lorne, he was the son of the late Arthur Godin and the late Helen Jane (Carrier). He is survived by his wife Adeline (Carrier); sons, Bobby of Toronto, Kelly (Mary) of Lorne; daughters, Caroline and Sandra of Lorne; grandchildren, Lacey, Chase and Fallon; great-grandchildren, James Darien and Brienna; brother Lionel as well as his sisters, Emma Murphy and Bernice Morin. He was pre-deceased by a son, Leroy; brothers, Delphis, Johnny, Lloyd and Ralph; sisters, Edith, Viola, Dora, Mildred and Opal. His funeral was held from St. Maria Goretti Church, Lorne, Feb.17th, 2009 officiated by Father David Ferguson with a legion service following the funeral service. Pallbearers were Johnny Mallaley, Paul Devereaux, Omer Hickey, Rodney Hickey, Wayne Godin and Dale Furlotte. Honorary pallbearers were Chase Godin, Marcel LaPointe, Jonathon Hickey, Rickster Francoeur, Murry Furlotte, Alexander Mallaley, Alphonse Lavigne and David LaPointe. Thompson, Terry

At Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, Mr. Terrence Gerald Thompson of Listowel, and formerly of Kitchener, in his 75th year. Beloved husband of Barbara (D'Angelo) Thompson. Dear father of Nancy Lauren Smith of Vancouver, B.C., Brian Smith and his wife Cheryl of Kimberley, B.C., and Michael Smith and his friend Brina of Kitchener. Brother of Venice Pollock-Jordan of Scarborough, and Adrian Thompson and his friend Seonaid of Codrington, and brother-in-law of Lisa Sammut and her husband Paul of Kitchener. Predeceased by his parents Gerald and Ena (Myles) Thompson. Terry will be missed by the many friends and colleagues he worked and played with through the years. He especially savoured the friendship of the morning coffee group in Listowel and all those with whom he shared his love of golf. Though his nickname came to be "Grumpy", he will always be remembered for his Maritime sense of humour, his jokes and stories. His presence in the lives of his family will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Monday, February 16th from 12 noon until time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Reverend George Russell officiating. Yvon Berube

The death of Yvon Berube of Jacquet River occured at the Bathurst Regional Hospital Saturday Feb. 14th, 2009 at the age of 71. Born in Rosemont, PQ., the son of the late Emilien Berube and the late Juliette Lefrancois. Yvon was an E.M.T., Fireman, Cabinetmaker and a leathercraftsman. He is survived by his wife Jackie, sons Kirk of Moncton, Sylvain (Diane) of St. Julie PQ., Claude (Sylvie) of St. Julie, PQ; two grandsons, Xavier and Jimmy as well as his brothers, Bernard and Norman. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Michel. His funeral was held from St. Gabriel's Church, Jacquet River, Feb. 18th, 2009 officiated by Father David Ferguson. Pallbearers were Carl Carlson, Royce McDonnell, Frank Guitard, Mario Godin, Alain Levesque and Michel Roy.
