Gerald Murray (Barney Boy) Brown

The death of Gerald Murray Barney Boy Brown of Belledune occurred Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at the Bathurst Regional Hospital at the age of 73. Born in Toronto, he was the son of the late Peter Earl Brown and the late Flora Margaret (Whitcher).

He was a wonderful father, great husband, an artist, lover of music, a practical joker. "A breath of fresh air".

He is survived by his wife Catherine, his children Donna Marie Landry (Jean-Paul) of Georgia, USA, Flo Guitard (Emile) of Belledune, Lois Gillespie (Dewey) of South Tetagouche, John Hugh (Dorina) of Oromocto, Ronald William of Bathurst, 18 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brother Garnet of Madoc, Ont., two sisters Gloria Murcar of Kitchener, Ont. And Joan Smith of Ontario.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Teddy, sister Francis Desrosiers and grandson Jorden Brown.

Bertrand D'Amours

The death of Bertrand D'Amours of St. Arthur, occurred on Sunday, September 7, 2003 at the age of 59.

Born in Ste-Paule, Quebec on August 29, 1944, he was the son of the late Leopold d'Amour and the late Yvette Truchon.

He is survived by his two sons Reginald (Nathalie) and Michael, one daughter Denise, two grandchildren Melanie and Kevin, four brothers Gaetan of Montreal, Gaston of Montreal, Serge (Louise) of Verdun, Que. And Clarence (Francine) of Verdun, Que., five sisters, Colette of Campbellton, Clemance (Charles) of St. Arthur, Gaetane (Ligurie) of Montreal and Johanne (Michel) Sorel as well as many nieces and nephews.

Alice Babcock

The death of Miss Alice Babcock of the Soldiers' Memorial Villa occurred peacefully at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on September 26, 2003 at the age of 97 years.

Born on May 2, 1906 she was the daughter of the late David Babcock and the late Eliza Chesser of Mann's Mountain, N.B.

She was the beloved aunt of Archie Babcock (Georgina) of Mann's Mountain, Michael Babcock (Betty) of Nanaimo, B.C., Reva Campbell (Scott) of Qualicum Beach, B.C., Ora Babcock of Matapedia, Maureen Forgeron (Alphonsus) of Calgary, A.B., Mildred Allard (Raymond) of Lincoln, N.B. and all their families.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her three brothers Merritt, Archie and Adam Babcock, three nieces Elizabeth Babcock, Dorothy Peterson and Peggy Roberts, and four nephews David, Frank, Patrick and Richard Babcock.

Sister Carmen Belanger, E.J.
(Sister Benoit-Maria)
Sister Carmen Bélanger, f.j., passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at the Provincial House of the Filles de Jésus, 553 Elmwood Drive, Moncton at the age of 85, in the 61st year of her religious profession.

Born March 29, 1918 in Campbellton, she was the daughter of the late Adélard and Doris (Letourneau) Bélanger.

Sister Carmen spent 34 years in teaching, partly in NB; Rogersville, Belledune, Lorne, Dalhousie; also in Alberta: Vimy, and Morinville. During her retirement years, she continued to render service in our communities and parishes of Grande Anse, Nash Creek, Petit de Gras, and Sydney until she took up residence at the Provincial House in 1993.

Besides her religious family, she is survived by two sisters: Bernice Martel of Campbellton, Marleen Pidgeon of Kingston, NS; two brothers: Gérard of Charlo, René of Sept Iles, Qc, several nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters: Thérèse, Marina: also two brothers: Edouard and Benny.
