Chester Culligan

The death of Chester Culligan of Belledune occurred April 8, 2012 at Chaleur Regional Hospital Bathurst at the age of 72. Born in Belledune, he was the son of the late Daniel Culligan and the late Ethel (Cormier)

He is survived by his wife Beverly (Roberts); daughters Sheila Culligan of Barrie, ON and Angela Culligan (Chris gourlie) of Barrie, ON; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren as well as his brothers Daniel anb Bert and sisters Norma Carrier, Betty Pilon and Ruth Farrell.

He was predeceased by his infant sons Joseph and John; brothers Vincent, Emmett and Ray as well as his sisters Angela and Bernice.

Pallbearers: Tim Culligan, Bunny Shannon, Aubrey Russell, Gerald Baker, Mark Flanagan and Jimmy Trainor. Honorary passbearers were Jamie Culligan, Reg LaPointe and Charles Hickey.

Gerard Poirier

Passed away at the Campbellton Village Nursing Home on April 13, 2012 at the age of 91, Mr. Gerard Poirier of Atholville. Born in Campbellton on March 3, 1921 he was the son of the late George Poirier and the late Emma Lavoie.

He leaves to mourn his children Leona, Leonard, Jacques, Anita, Rachel, Richard, Denis, Lise, Carol and Pierre. Also survived by his 27 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by his wife Helene Hachey Poirier, sons Roger and Robert and daughter Pauline.

Isabella "Nellie" Keays

The family of Isabella "Nellie" Keays is saddened to announce her death on April 13, 2012 in Matapedia QC at the age of 90. Born in Riviere du Loup PQ, on July 3, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm Upton and Emelie savoie.

Isabella is survived by her children Lincoln (Monique Parker), Barbara (Jock McFarlane), Sterling (Joanne Foran) and Glen (Sharon McLaughlin); grandchildren Laurie Belliveau, Rachel Keays, Monica McFarlane, Christopher McFarlane, William Keays, Renae Keays, Matthew Keays, great grandchildren Justin Keays, Page Belliveau, Emerson Keays, Everette Keays.

She is also survived by her sisters Elizabeth "Betty" Fraser of Corunna ON., and Anna Bernard of Campbellton , sister-in-laws Edna Keays of New Richmond QC., Kathleen "Kay" Upton of Saint John NB and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beside her parents she was predeceased by her husband Richard Keays of Oak Bay, and a brotehr Donald Upton of Campbellton.

Mom was a kind and loving wife and mother who was devoted to family and church throughout her life and was well known for her generosity and self sacrifice.

Lloyd Culligan

The death of Lloyd Culligan of Belledune occurred April 10, 2012 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 80. Born in Culligan NB he was the son of the late Theophilus Culligan and the late Frances (Devereaux)

Lloyd is survived by his brothers Frankie (Karia) of Belledune, Ronald (Marie) of Miramichi, David of Belledune and sister Anita Smith (Les) of Bedford.

He was predeceased by his sisters Shirley and Mary Kay and brother Bobby.

Pallbearers; Chester Devereaux, Vaughn, Terry, Ronald, James and Michael Culligan. Honorary pallbearers; Allie and Timmy Culligan, Bev and Fred Firlotte, Louis and Celestin Carrier, Aubrey Russell, Kenny LaPointe, Bernard Shannon, Lionel Joncas and Jimmy Stevens.

Thomas McBrearty

Thomas Ernest Francis (Tom) McBrearty, of the City of Campbellton passed away on April 9, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Campbellton, son of the late Reynald (Blinbk) McBrearty and the late Lima Collins.

He is survived by his wife, Shelley (Volney) McBrearty and his son Francis William (Frank) McBrearty. He is also survived by two aunts, Gemma Gallant and Faye Collins, both of Campbellton, one uncle, Elmer McBrearty of Baie comeau, many cousins, father-in-law, Leonard Volney, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a nephew.

While he was a student, he worked with the Department of Highway, Fraser Inc. and Canadian National Railways. He attended St. Thomas University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in May 1973. He further pursued his studies in law at the UNB and was admitted to the Bar in July 1976. He first worked with the law firm of J.H.W. Senechal and opened his practice in 1980. Throughout his career, he was an active volunteer with numerous associations, namely:

1) the Restigouche District Planning Commission for 30 years which he chaired from 1998 to December 2011.

2) the Charlo Airport Commission;

3) the Public Utilities Board;

4) the Board of Governors of St Thomas University for 8 years, which he chaired from 2005 to 2008.

5) the Restigouche County Volunteer Action Association from 1985 to present;

6) the Campbellton Curling Club;

7) the New Brunswick Barristers Society;

8) the Restigouche Barristers Society;

9) the Campbellton Minor Hockey as a coach;

10) the Liberal Party Association;

11) the Campbellton Chamber of Commerce;

12) a founder of Bay Chaleur Air (2001-2002)

He was also a member of the Kniht of Columbus 4th Degree as well as a member of the United Commercial Travelers.

Colleen Gallie (Thompson)

Colleen passed away peacefully at her home in Ontario on Sunday March 22, 2012 at the age of 74 after a lenghty battle with cancer.

She was born in Campbellton on April 26, 1937 as the youngest child of the late David and Isabel (Firth) Thompson.

She is survived by one daughter Brenda and four sons David (Marietta) Michael (Michiko), Patrick and Terrence (Gisele). Loving "Gram" of Adam, Andrew and Keith, Johnathan and Heather, Christopher and James and Maggie. She will also be remembered with love by sisters Pat Murray(late Paul) of Glencoe, Corrine "Queenie" Hrenyk (Steve) of Waterdown, ON, and one brother George Thompson (Late Rita), Toronto and their families.

She was predeceased by twelve brothers and sisters.

Leo Firlotte

The death of Leo Firlotte of Jacquet River occurred at Palliative care Unit of St. Joseph Hospital, Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the age of 90. Born in Jacquet River, he was the son of the late Frank Firlotte and the late Celine (Guitard).

He is survived by his sister Gladys Betts and several nieces and nephews.

Leo was predeceased by his sisters Marie Lavoie, Alice Talbot, Bernadette Hearn, Beatrice Woodcox, Dorina, Jean, Blanche LaFrerriere and his brother Guy.

Pallbearers were fellow Legion members.

Raymond Joseph Gallen
1932-2012

Raymond Joseph Gallen passed away peacefully on April 15, 2012 in Windsor, ON at the age of 79. Formerly of Benjamin River, NB.

Loving husband of Doris. Dear father of Debbie (Brian)m, Lisa (Barry); grandfather of Kyle, Matthew and Ryan. Also survived by his siblings Lonnie (Liz), Flora (late Marvin), Shirley (Joe), Priscilla (Wilfred), and the late Ralph (Rachelle) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Madeleine Firlotte

It is with great sadness that the family of Madeleine Firlotte announces her passing on April 13, 2012 in Atholville at the age of 60.

Madeleine was the dear mother of Scott and Carrie Mann. She was the grandmother of Courtney, Cassandra, Tylor and Austin (Scott) and Nicholas (Carrie)

Predeceased by her father Wallace, mother Imelda and brother Jack. She is survived by sisters Rose Myles (Glen) of Plaster Rock, Henriette Davis (Len) of North Bay, ON and Emily Kozak of Campbellton; brothers, Alexander (lana) of Tide Head and Omer (Christine) of Dunnville, NL. She is also survived by her sister in law, Theresa Shadbolt (Jack) of Tenton, NS. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews. Madeleine loved to dance and loved music of all kinds. She will be missed by her many friends.

We will miss you little sister, your suffering is done.
