Albert Coleman (Dan) Daley
Daley, Albert Coleman (Dan) WO, CD - 76, formerly of Eastern Passage, N.S. passed away November 12, 2003.
He was predeceased by his wife, Georgette. He was survived by his daughters Joyce (Randall) Pitts, Porters Lake and Susan (Bruce) Kelloway, Eastern Passage, grandchildren Melynda and Meghan Pitts, Porters Lake, Laura (Ernest) Dingle, and Sean Kelloway, all of eastern Passage.
He is also survived by his brother George (Elaine) Daley, Sussex, N.B. and was predeceased by a sister Madeline (George) Schmidt, Fort Erie, Ont.
Coleman served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1950 - 1974. He has billets on Bonaventure, Magnificent, Bras d'Or, Pat Bay B.C. and with the multiple flying and static units at CFB Shearwater. He was awarded the Canadian declaration with clasp.
Edwin Scott
Mr. Edwin Scott of 459 Vanier Street Campbellton passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on November 11, 2003 at the age of 88 years old. Born in Campbellton, he was the son of the late Roland Scott and late Emma Boudreau.
he worked as a brakeman for C.N.R for many years, Survived by his wife Dorin LeBlond, son Rev. Craig Scott, stepsons; Robert (Jeanne) Roy of Ottawa, Maynard (Maureen) of Shippagan. Sister Olive Beauline and brothers; Douglas Scott, Roland Scott and Gifford Scott.
Predeceased by his father and mother; his first wife Loretta Arseneault, brothers, Armand, Allan, Gerald, Ralph, sisters; Rita St-Onge and Bernice Diotte.
Eva Cormier
The death of Eva Cormier; wife of the late Arthur Young, of 300 Notre dame St. Atholville, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on November 15, 2003 at the age of 85.
Born in Rogersville she was the daughter of the late James Cormier and the late Sylvie Allain.
She is survived by her children; Viola (Allan Guitar) of Jacquet River, Dora (Earl MacDonald) of Bathurst, Madeline (Gilles Ouellette) of Campbellton, Ernest (Yvette Denis) of Murdochille, Arthur (Ann O'Brien) of Atholville, Wellie of Atholville, Jacques (Lise Poirier) of Pointe a la Croix, Gerald (Ginette St. Pierre) of Murdochville, one sister May (Garnet) Roy of Atholville, 21 grandchildren. 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Florida Marguerite (Née Parent) McConkey
The family announces with sorrow, her death, Saturday November 15th, 2003, in Espanola at the age of 85 years. Daughter of the late Augusie and of the late Blanche Parent (née Casey). Wife of the late James Gallant and the late Charles McConkey. Loving Mother of Osborne Gallant of Calgary, Rodrigue Gallant f Pointe-a-la Croix, Quebec and Claude Gallant (wife Marie of Timmins). Step Mother to Bryon McConkey (wife Diane) and Neil McConkey (late wife Patricia) both of Midland, ON and Gail Antonpolus (husband Tom) of Ennismore, ON.
Dear sister of Stanley Parent (wife Beatrice) of Toronto, Eugene Parent (wife Leona) of Sudbury, Edna Poirier (late husband Dave) of Atholville, N.B. JuliaVaillancourt (husband Adrien) and Helene Brusseau (husband George) both of Montreal.
Predeceased by her brothers and sisters Donat Parent, Norman Cormier (late wife Cecile), Oreile Parent, Rena Charbonneau (late husband Romeo), Eveline Parent and Yvette Parent.
Gregory Gallant
The death of Gregory Gallant of Campbellton and formerly of Jacquet River occurred on November 5, 2003 at the Village Nursing Home in Campbellton at the age of 76.
Born in Jacquet River he was the son of the late Fabian Gallant and Helen Guitard.
He was survived by his son John Gallant of Montreal, his daughters Joanne Gallant of Montreal, Sheila Pearson of Montreal, Christine Gallant of Montreal and Cathy (Doug) Cote of Edmonton, Alberta. He is also survived by ten grand-children and two great grandchildren as well as sisters Annette Gallant of Neufchatelle, Que. Gertrude Gallant of Campbellton, his brothers Pius (Delcina) of Montreal, Austin (Lise) of Montreal, Don (Pauline) of Montreal, Charles (Renee) of Calgary and Joey (Joann) of Jacquet River.
He was predeceased by his parents and brotherVincent.
Henry Lushington 1910 - 2003
Henry Lushington died quietly in his sleep on November 12th at about 11:30 pm at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Dalhousie, after a brief illness. He was 93.
He was born in Little Pitler, near Aberdeen, Scotland, on August 30, 1910. his family emigrated from Scotland to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in 1912. He grew up in Dartmouth, married Beryl (Norris) in 1942 and moves to Saint John, New Brunswick, where he lived for 10 years before moving back to Dartmouth.
Upon retirement from Canadian general Electric, he and Beryl moved to Granville Ferry, Nova Scotia for most of their retirement years, before coming to Dalhousie nearly 17 years ago.
He was predeceased by his wife, Beryl, who dies in June of 1998, and by four brothers, Francis, William, Robert and James. He is survived by his sisters Catherine, Helen and Jean, and by two brothers, John and Peter all of whom lived in the Halifax/Dartmouth region. He also leaves 4 grandchildren, Michael (Carla) of Pt. La Nim, Marilyn (Don) Doucette of Schubenacadia, N.S., Donald (Judy) of Meagher's Grant, N.S. and Elaine (Bill) Parker; of Halifax. As well, there are nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. All will miss him.
Irvin Carrier
The death of Irvin Carrier of Jacquet River, occurred suddenly at his residence on Friday, November 7, 2003 at the age of 72.
Born in Lorne he was the son of the late Edouard Carrier and Eva Chamberlain/
He was survived by his wide Doris, sons Basil (Barbara Ann) of Gravel Hill, Allen (Theresa) of Belledune, Victor of Belledune, Claude of Val Des Monts, Rickey (Lillian) of Black Point, Delphis of Belledune, Edward (Denise) of Nigadoo, daughters Donna (Don) Pernfuss of Calgary, Susan (Kari) Vroom of Fredericton, Johanne carrier (Darcy Guitard) of Belledune, Kim Carrier (Dean Hickey) of Belledune, Christine (Rene) Larocque of Halifax, Angela Carrier (Timmy Duguay) of Fredericton, brother Murray of Campbellton, 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
John Maurice Labillois
The death of John Maurice Labillois of 38 Beach Road, Eel River Bar, N.B. occurred at his home on November 12, 2003 at the age of 90.
Born in new Mills, N.B. on February 28, 1913, he was the son of the late William Labillois and the late Hanna Caron.
He is survived by his wife Marion Simonson, daughters Patricia Simonson, Joan Caplin, Irene Jerome, Jenny Peter Paul and Nora Labillois all of Eel River Bar, sons Leonard, Ernest, Hubert, and Robert all of Eel River Bar. He is also survived by 46 grandchildren and 94 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Joseph Leander Firlotte
The death of Joseph Leander Firlotte of Jacquet River occurred on Friday, November 7th, 2003 at the Bathurst Regional Hospital at the age of 80.
Born in Jacquet River, he was the son of the late Arthur Firlotte and Olive Guitard.
Joseph was a veteran of WWII and was in the Air Force for 35 years. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 77, Jacquet River.
He is survived by brothers Arthur of California, sisters Annette Lebel of Edmundston and Carmeline Firlotte of Campbellton.
His was predeceased by his parents, bothers Alexander, Edgard and Desmond.
Mary (Mamie) Robertson Fraser
The death of Mary (Mamie) Robertson Fraser, 177 Perron Blvd. Escuminac, Que. On Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the age of 85.
Born in Powers, Oregon, USA, she was the daughter of the late Harry Robertson and the late hazel Thomas. Mary was a homemaker who attended the Escuminac United Church and was a member of the U.C.W and loved to knit and crochet.
She is survived by her daughters Hazel (Kari) Steinbach of Mansonville, Que Evelyn (Raymond) Bernier of Hinton, ON. Edith (Stephen) Edwards of Fleurant, Que., Lorena Fraser of Mansonville, Que., and Janice (Lyn) Court of Edson, Alb., son James (Helen) Fraser of Edson, Alb., sisters Evelyn 9Joe) Bernichez and Jean (Nick) Shepard and sisters-in-law Eva (Harry) Robertson and betty (reed) Robertson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lisa, Krista, Julie, Susan, Heather, Cathy, Christina, Ray, Emily and Katie.
She was predeceased by her husband Everett Fraser in 1991, her sister Hazel and her brothers, Reed, Harry and Corbett Robertson.
Percy Baker (Pete) Pratt
After a journey of 88 years Pete went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on November 14, 2003. he was predeceased by his beloved wife Rene (O'Donnell) in 1995, his parents Alexander and Bertha (Bulmer), his brothers Willie, Irvine, Nathan (Tad) and Porter, his sisters Jean (Babcock), Isobel (Whitman),Thelma (Downs), Bertha (Copeland), Bernice (Targett), Helen Pratt and Gracie Pratt. His sister Margaret Downs and sister-in-law Nan Pratt reside in Campbellton and he leaves many nieces and nephews.
Surviving are his daughters, Susan and her husband Gareth Christie, his cherished grandchildren; Travis and his wife Diane (Macgregor). Pamela and her husband Benson Colpitts , his great grandchildren Alana, Isaac, and Joshua Colpitts, all of Fredericton, N.B.
He was a member of the First United Baptist Church in Campbellton, the Royal Canadian Legion, the orange Lodge, the Masonic Lodge and the "Downstairs Boys. He sought to pattern his life after the Bible verse found in James 4:17.
He moves to Fredericton in 2001, where he resided in the Veterans Health Facility and had special camaraderie with other veterans and the caring staff, ever ready for a cribbage game, a quote from poet Robert Service and a good cup of hot tea.
Rose Guitard
The death of Rose Guitard of Belledune occurred, Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the age of 88.
Born in Robertville, she was the daughter of the late jean L. Pitre and Mary Helen Guitard.
She is survived by her sons Donat (Claudette) of Sudbury, Antoine (Joyce) of Jacquet River, Valmond (Linda) of Sudbury. Doran (Dorothy) of Sudbury, Gerald (Kelly) of Windsor, Ont., Jean-Guy (Monica) of Jacquet River, daughters Delanda Roy (Theodore) of Montreal, Exilda (Raymond) Guitard of Jacquet River, Delcina (Puis) Gallant of Montreal, Roseline (Andrew) Guitard of Ottawa, Geraldine (Roger) Guitard of Nash Creek, 31 grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband Alphonse and son Lorenzo.
Mary Margaret (Hay) Young
The death of Mary Margaret (Hay) Young, wife of the late John W. Young, occurred at St. Joseph Hospital, Dalhousie on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at the age of 91.
Mary came to this area from her native Chatham in 1933 to teach at the Dalhousie Superior School which is now the L.E. Reinsborough School.
Mary was involved in the Restigouche Regional Museum in Dalhousie. She was a member of the Dalhousie Library Board, having given fifty years of volunteer service to the libraries in Dalhousie.
She was a life long member of St. John Bosco C.W.L. In her early years she took great interest in the Girl Guide movement.
Mary is survived by her son Glen (Linda); her daughter, Loretta (Danny); grandchildren John, Kellie, Jodi, David, Kristie; great grandchildren Spenser, Kyle, Alexander, Zachary; several niece and nephews and one brother, Johnny hay of Moncton.
She was predeceased by her sister Mary Dobbelsteyn, brothers Harold, Arthur, Hubert and Robert Jr. (Huzzy).
