Bertha Vermette
The death of Bertha Vermette, resident of Campbellton, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on March 11, 2006, at the age of 96.
Born in Fauvel, Bonaventure QC on January 24, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Leo Babin and the late Amanda Babin. Bertha was a member of "Les Dames D'Acadie".
She is survived by her husband Adelard Vermette, her daughters Lianne (John) Potter of Regina, Denise (Peter) Abonyi of Beaconsfield, QC, her son Claude (Donna) Vermette of McLeods, her sister Yvonne (Claude) Lauzé of Repentigny, QC, her brother Henri-Paul (Laurie) Babin of Bonaventure, QC. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, Kristina, Luc (Dalyce), Susan, Marie-France, Chantal, Lee, Julie, Andrew and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her 3 sons, Jean-Guy, Jacques, Michel and 2 brothers Lambert Babin and Fomuta Babin.
The funeral was held from Our Lady of Snow Church in Campbellton on March 15, 2006, officiated by Father Roméo Morrison. The interment will be in the Our Lady of Snows Cemetery in the spring. The pallbearers were "La Garde Paroissiale Notre Dame des Neiges" and "Garde D'Honneur les Dames d'Acadie". Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
Marie Paule MacMillan
MacMillan (nee Gallant) Marie Paule passed away peacefully at the Guildwood Extendicare, Scarborough, ON, on Monday, February 20, 2006, in her 83rd year. She was the daughter of the late William Gallant and Marie Louise Lavoie. Beloved wife of Normal MacMillan, she will be sadly missed by her children Simonne (Joe) Lapierre and Jeannine (Eldon) and her step-children Diane (Gary) Gray, Doug (Donna) MacMillan, Heather (Sal) Castorino, Isaac (Linda) MacMillan, and Molly (Ross) Harvey. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers Aime (Gerry) Gallant, Joe (Christine) Gallant, and sisters Jeannette (Edgar) Poirier, Rose (Norvel) Hachey, Reine (Allan) Upton, brother-in-law Donat Ouellette, sister-in-laws Marie Gallant, Vina Gallant and Germaine Gallant.
She was predeceased by her first husband Bill Matt and brothers Armand, Lucien and Paul Gallant and sister Blanche Ouellette. Funeral service was held from Giffin & Mack Funeral Home Chapel, Scarborough, ON, on February 23, 2006.
