Essiembre, Omer
On Friday, March 24, 2006 our special and beloved father, Omer Essiambre, husband of the late Priscille Frenette, passed on to a new life, at the age of 90.
The second of three sons, Omer was born in McLeods on February 8, 1916, to Aimé and Eléonore (Boudreau) Essiambre. He grew up and lived all of his life, in the McLeods-Richardsville area. He is remembered as an independent spirit, a good person who enjoyed telling stories and laughing with family and friends. From his birth, throughout his 90 years he grew to become a beloved son, brother, husband, devoted father, grandfather and grand-grand pé-père.
Early on, as a young husband, he was willing to serve his country, protecting our freedom, and was in the army for four years. His last year with us being especially meaningful, in that, it was "The Year of the Veteran".
Later, he began a career he loved, as an SMT Bus Driver. "Slim", as he was known, drove the Campbellton-Moncton run. It was special that he shared his career with his brother Gérard for 30 years. Upon retiring from his bus service he worked at the scale house enforcing the law of the road.
There are many things family and friends have learned from him. His work ethic and pride are a measure of his character. He was a man of faith, a man of love and a man of inner peace and courage, in short, a beautiful person with a heart of gold.
Our hearts are filled with warm memories of family ties and we are glad that our lives have been personally touched by him. We bid him farewell, knowing that we will strive to live our lives with faith, determination and love of family, as he has shown us. His memory will forever be in our hearts.
Omer is survived by a son Ronald, and wife Joyce of Campbellton, a daughter Cécille and husband Normand of Fredericton, a daughter-in-law Rita Essiembre of Campbellton; four grand-children Nicole, Gilles, Rachel, René and Jean-Philippe; four great-grand-children Jarvis, Keegan, Ella and Kaleb.
