Benjamin (Bennie) Audet
Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on March 13, 2008 at the age of 85, Benjamin (Bennie) Audet, resident of Rue de la Mer, Pointe à la Croix, Québec. Born in Ste-Anne de Restigouche on January 16, 1923, he was the son of the late Benjamin Audet and the late Ellen Walsh.
Bennie was retired from N.B.I.P. Woodland Division after 40 years service as draftsman. He was also President of the Restigouche School Board and member of the municipal council of Pointe à la Croix (Quebec).
Bennie will be sadly missed and remembered by his wife, Jacqueline E. Olscamp; his two sons: René (Ellen Murray) Quebec City, Gilles (Rachel Hender) St-Sauveur P.Q.; six grandchildren: Claudelle, Amy, Benjamin, Tristan, Alexandre and Dominic; one brother Arthur ( Cecile St-Laurent); two sisters: Marguerite (late Roland Belanger) and Therese (Audet) Caron; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In addition Bennie was preceased by three sisters: Brigitte, Françoise, and infant Cecilia; three brothers: Raymond, Frank and Willie.
The funeral service was held from Ste-Anne de Restigouche Church on Monday March 17, 2008 at 3 pm, celebrated by Father Evariste Landry.
Pallbearers were Gerard Theriault, Robert Kearney, Bryan Neville, Jean-Marc Belanger, Michel Turgeon, and Normand Audet. The cross was carried by David Targett. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
Donald Williams
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Donald DeVenne Williams on March 24, 2008 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, with his daughter at his side.
Don died as he lived, with courage and dignity. He was well liked and respected by all who knew him, and he was at all times a kind and quiet gentleman. He was born on October 24th, 1919 in Rivière Du Loup, QC the eldest son of Samuel Charles Williams and Elizabeth (Bessie) Pauline DeVenne.
Don worked for Canadian National Railway from 1939 until his retirement in 1976.
A veteran of the Second World War, Don served overseas from 1940 until 1945 with the 1st Canadian Field Squadron Royal Canadian Engineers, 5th Canadian Armoured Division in England, Italy and Holland. Following his discharge from the Army Don resumed his career with the CNR in Moncton where he met and married his beloved Margaret.
Don was a past Master of the Royal Arch Chapter of the Masonic Lodge, former Worthy Patron of the Ada Chapter of the Eastern Star. Don was also an avid golfer into his 70's and also enjoyed a good fishing or hunting trip.
Don is survived by his daughter Wenda Williams-Glidden of Indian Mountain, NB (James Lyons), his grandsons Roy Glidden of St. Albert, Alberta, Christopher Glidden (Meaghan) of Moncton as well as his greatly anticipated and soon to be born great-grandson Seeley DeVenne Glidden, his sister Pauline Craib of Kanata, ON, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Anna Duhy, a grandson Andrew Glidden, a sister Grace Jamieson (Angus) and two brothers Stuart and Ross.
It is dad's wish that there be no visitation or funeral. Cremation has taken place and a short Memorial Service and or graveside service will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home Campbellton.
Whylie Hamilton
The death of Whylie Hamilton of Eel River Crossing occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital Friday at the age of 92. Born in Eel River Crossing, he was the son of the late James Hamilton and Alice (Beckingham).
Whylie was an honorary Elder at St. John's United Church, Dalhousie. He worked at the S.S. Harrison Store in Eel River Crossing until he joined the Army and was overseas from 1941 until 1946. He was employed at the Dalhousie Liquor store for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annie Mary (MacDonald) and several nieces and nephews. Whylie was pre-deceased by his brothers Elmo, Ethan and Ritchie and sisters Edna MacNaulty, Sarah Hamilton and Amanda Malley.
His funeral was held from St. John's United Church, Dalhousie, Monday March 24, 2008, officiated by Rev. Arnold Godsoe and Rev. Dean Lawrence. Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point. www.macmillansfuneralhome.ca
Willard Loane
The death of James Willard Loane of Belledune, NB, occurred suddenly at the Campbellton Regional Hospital Sunday, March 23, 2008, at the age of 89. Born in Belledune on July 9, 1918, he was the son of the late Thomas and Emma (Black) Loane. He farmed in the Belledune area, worked for Brunswick Smelting, was well known for his love of gardening and had many musical talents. He was a lifetime elder, treasurer and choir member of St. Luke's United Church, Belledune and Bethel United Church, Nash Creek. He was pre-deceased by his wife Ethel (Hutchison), a sister Gladys Payne, a brother Gordon and an infant daughter.
He is survived by his son Gordon of Fredericton NB, daughter Edna Cooke (Roger) of Halifax NS, sisters Hazel Miller of Dalhousie, NB, Hope Scott of Bathurst NB, three grandchildren, Heather and David Cooke of Victoria BC and Ian Cooke of Halifax as well as several nieces and nephews.
His funeral was held at Bethel United Church, Nash Creek Thursday, March 27, 2008, officiated by Rev. Don Fairweather with burial in St. Luke's Cemetery in the spring. Pallbearers were Ron Ward, Arnold Guitard, Donald Black, Charles Scott, Ervin Smearer and Everett Boulay. Donations in memory of Willard to the St. Luke's Cemetery fund would be appreciated by the family.
