Ron Mahoney An employee of the City of Campbellton for 19 years, Ronald Francis Mahoney passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 24, 2001 at the age of 60 following a lenghty illness.

Originally from Sudbury, Ontario, he was born there on January 3, 1941 to Charles Mahoney and Marie O'Keefe.

Mahoney worked for the city of Campbellton from 1982 to near the end of 1997 as city administrator. He spent the last few years of his life on disability.

He belonged to the Knights of Columbus at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, was active in many other areas in the church and was president of its parish council at the time of his death.

Mahoney is survived by his wife Irene Geraghty, his mother Marie O'Keefe of St. Hubert, Qc., daughters Jennifer (Alex Beauregard) Mahoney of Fredericton, Stephanie (Jacques) Lurette of Campbellton and Angela Mahoney of Campbellton of Campbellton, his son Sean (Danielle Vautour) of Campbellton, sisters Carol Mahoney of St Hubert, Qc., and Sharon (Ralph) McCully of Lennoxville, Qc., brothers Daniel (Karen) Mahoney of North Bay, Ontario and Timothy Mahoney of Shelbourne, Nova Scotia, and granddaughter Olivia.

He was predeceased by his father Charles and one brother Brian.

Susan Theresa Firth

A native of Dawsonville, born there on May 10, 1897, Susan Theresa Firth passed away at the Village Nursing Home, Campbellton November 21, 2001 at the age of 104 and a half.

Born to Stillman Thompson and Eliza Dunn, she was a homemaker and belonged to the Anglican Church Women, the Order of Eastern Star Lady Alexander #24 and Senior Citizens.

She is survived by daughters Elise (Lawrence) Cobham, Isabel (Guy) Pollock, Betty (Dave) Wright, Edith (Keith) Matheson and Fay Firth, sons Marvin (Dora) Firth, Owen (Darla) Firth and Alexander Firth, daughters-in-law Belauh (Ray) Firth and Janice (Still) Firth, 44 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Ivan, sons Raymond and Stillman, daughters Eulala and Gwendolyn, brothers Mitchel and Michael Thompson and sisters Jen Thompson and Lucy Casey.

Terry Brisk 

The death of Terry Brisk of 18 Alder Street, Listuguj, occurred suddenly at his home on November 19, 2001 at the age of 43.

Born in Campbellton, he was the son of Gilbert Brisk and Shirley Isaac.

He was a dispatcher with the LMG Rangers and a member of St. Anne's Church, Listuguj.

Besides his parents, he is survived by stepmother Barbara, grandmother Mary Anne, brothers Joe, Donald, Roland, Maurice, Peter, Paul, George and Gerry, sisters Pauline, Sheila and Judy and many nieces and nephews.

Helen Jean MacKenzie H

elen Jean MacKenzie of Charlo passed away peacefully November 20, 2001 at St Joseph Hospital, Dalhousie at the age of 87.

She was born in Blacklands to Harold Hamilton and Ida Carney on November 18, 1914 and was a member of the Session of St. John's United Church, a member of the church choir, a member of the Charlo Golden Age Club, a member of theGlenburnie Women's Institute and a life member of the UCW.

She is survived by a son Vaughn MacKenzie of Charlo, grandchildren Donna, Robert, John, Judy, Glen, Ruth and Ellen, 14 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Joan, sisters-in-law Helen Miller of Edmonton and Peggy Hamilton of Charlo and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Harold MacKenzie, sons Ronald and Wilson, daughter Barbara, grandson Wade and brother Wilson.

Paul Lavoie 

The death of Paul Lavoie of Dalhousie occurred November 25, 2001 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 64.

He was born in Dalhousie on September 26, 1937 to Antonio Lavoie and Eveline LeBlanc and had worked at NBIP.

He is survied by daughter Eveline Lavoie-Carey (Pierre), son Maurice Lavoie (Roseline) both of Dalhousie, sisters Georgette Poirier of Victoria, B.C. Marie Marthe McDonald (Ken) of Troy, N.S. and Rachel Wisteard of Toymount, On., brother Gerard Lavoie ( Anne) of Kirkland Lake, On. and grandchildren Annie, Venessa and Kevin. He was predeceased by his parents.

Clarence Phillips 

The death of Clarence Phillips of Dalhousie occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on November 19, 2001 at the age of 71.

He was born in Dalhousie on January 23, 1930 to Henry Phillips and Victoria Diotte and had worked as a papermaker at NBIP.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was loved and will be misesd by all who knew him.

He is survied by his wife Jeannine Elsliger of Dalhousie, daughters June Phillips-Schiavoni (Jean-Guy) of Bathurst, Lorraine Phillips-LeClair (Rheal) and Patricia Phillips-Bujold (Baudoin) borh of Dalhousie, sisters Geraldine Phillip, Ula Arsenault and Maryange Maybe, brothers Tim, Jean-Paul, Joe, Frank and Ivan and grandchildren Treena, Shawn and Shelly Schiavoni, Jessica and Derek LeClair and Philip Harley and Jordan-Star Bujold.

He was predeceased by his parents, one sister, Emma Goupil and Two brothers, Edmund and Aime.

Gladys Synnett 

The death of Gladys Synnett of Dalhousie occurred on November 21, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital, Dalhousie at the age of 75.

She was born in Drummond, N.B. on February 1, 1926 to Francois Bellefleur and Olivia Moreau.

She is survived by daughters Ramona Synnett-Robidoux (Pierre) of Dalhousie, Anne Synnett of Dorval, Qc and Therese Synnette of Montreal, son John Synnett of Montreal, sisters Laurette Babin of Atholville, Therese Audet (Jean) of Charlo, and Jeannine PetitClerc (Marc) of Montreal, brothers Claude BelleFleur (Mona) of Laval-Ouest, Qc., and Jean Hugues Bellefleur (Lisette) of Boisbriand, Qc, grandchildren Jefferson Robidoux, David Robidoux, Jean-Paul Robidoux, Marika Synnett-Trifiro, Marie Louise Synnett-Robidoux, Julian Synnett-Trifiro, and Great-grandchild Meagan Lepage-Robidoux.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband Robert Synnett and brothers Hilaire, Fernand and Lionel Bellefleur.

Robert Duplacea The death of Robert Duplacey of Jacquet River occurred at the Bathurst Regional Hospital on November 22, 2001 at the age of 78.

He was born in Jacquet River to Albert and Margaret (Dempsey) Duplacey.

He served overseas in England with the Canadian Army during World War Two.

He is survived by his wife Florence (Levesque), daughter Eleanor Syed, (Rashid) California, step-daughters Jacqueline Hickey (Ronald) and Lorraine Williston (Livy) of Halifax, son Mark of Toronto, stepson Wayne (Bernadette) of Fredericton, sisters Stella Sequin (Albert) of Virginia, Gladys Goff of Vermont and Lois Holder (Edwin) of Calgary and seven grandchildren.

He will be sadly missed by friends Gordon and Johnny.


Don Manuel The death of Don Manuel of Jacquet River occurred November 21, 2001 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 54.

Born in Griquet, Newfoundland, he was the son of Roland Manuel and Margaret Hillier

He was the loans manager for the Bank of Nova Scotia in Jacquet River for 10 years. He was also past president of the Jacquet River Lions Club and a member of Toastmasters.

He is survived by his wife Helen (Quinn), his mother, Margaret, daughter Nathalie of Fredericton, sons Keith of Halifax and Craig of Moncton, sisters Audrey Blake (Alvin Jr.) of North West River, Labrador, Ruby Michelin (Phil) of Goose Bay, Labrador, Rose Hope (Fred) of Goose Bay, Bessie Humby (Ray) of Griquet, Newfoundland, Violet (Paul Blake) of North West River, Minnie Pardy (Brude) of Goose Bay, Geraldine Haskins (Colin) of Ottawa, Juanita Pilgrim (Boyd) Clarenville, Newfoundland, Carmella Andrews (Tony) of Bathurst, brothers Roy (Helen) of Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Percy (June) of Griquet.

He was predeceased by his father and by his sister Presselia.
