Bill Sherrard
Bill Sherrard, beloved husband of Kathy (Day) and loving father of David and Thomas, lost his battle with cancer on April 30, 2005, at the age of 58. He also leaves to mourn, sister Marquita (Ed) Martin, Campbellton, brothers Elvin (Greta) of Miramichi and Henry (Betty) of Dollard des Ormeaux, Quebec.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Anna (Holmden) Sherrard, sisters Doris and Joyce, and brother, David. He spent his working life in Hamilton and will be remembered in the Hamilton construction business as a tradesman of reliability and integrity. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bill's life was held in a memorial service at the First Pilgrim United Church, Hamilton, May 3 with interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
Marion Brophy
The death of Marion Brophy of Fredericton and formerly of Nash Creek, wife of Ivan Brophy, passed away peacefully in her home with her family at her side following a courageous battle with cancer on May 6, 2005, at the age of 54.
She was the daughter of Rose Gallen and the late Gordon Lapointe.
Surviving her is her husband Ivan, son Michael (Christine) of Fredericton, and daughter Sharon of Fredericton. Also surviving is her mother Rose of Nash Creek, sisters Margaret Doucet (John) of Becketville, Cynthia Godin (Randy) of Black Point, Sharon Godin (Gilles) of Nash Creek, and Joannie Lapointe (Randy) of Toronto, brothers Glen of Nash Creek, Terry (Dale) of Nash Creek, and Donnie of Toronto and will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceasing Marion was her father Gordon, and brothers Herman and Eugene.
Her funeral was held May 9, 2005, officiated by Father Comeau from St. Joseph's Church in Nash Creek with burial in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Chamberlain, Patrick Chamberlain, Randy Godin, Don LaPointe, Terry LaPointe, and Fernand Leblanc. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Doucet and Glen LaPointe. Helen Whitney MacMillan
Helen Whitney MacMillan peacefully passed away at Seven Oaks Home in Scarborough, Ont., on Friday, April 15, 2005, one month short of her 99th birthday.
She is survived by her sisters Alla Howard of Scarborough, Ont. and Maxine White of Tide Head, N.B. and her brothers James of Toronto, Ont., Alexander (Sandy) of Tide Head, N.B. and Emery of Campbellton, N.B. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Jeannie Howard of Scarborough, John MacMillan of Toronto, Jeannie (MacMillan) Graham of Coe Hill, Ont., Gerald MacMillan of Ottawa, Ont., Sherry MacMillan of Campbellton, Sandra (MacMillan) Murray of Ottawa, Maxine MacMillan of Saint John, N.B., Phyllis MacMillan of Riverview, N.B., Susan (White) Fraser of Barbados.
She was predeceased by her parents, brothers George and Jack and her sister Myrtle.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place in Campbellton at a later date.
Gordon Stewart
The death of Gordon Stewart of 1374 Restigouche River Road, Dawsonville, N.B., occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on May 6, 2005, at the age of 56.
Born in Mann's Mountain, N.B., on June 2, 1948, he was the son of the late Murdock Stewart and the late Kathleen Hennigar.
Surviving him are his daughters Kathleen and Pauline of Toronto, sisters Freda of Sudbury, Edith of Robinsonville and Alice of Toronto, brothers Jim of Toronto, Murray of Toronto and Gilbert of Val D'Amour. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a very special nephew Jessie.
Predeceasing him were his parents Murdock and Kathleen.
The funeral was held from Maher's Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, May 10, 2005, officiated by Rev. Andrew Fraser, with interment in the Dawsonville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Murray Stewart, Gilbert Stewart, Jim Stewart, Philippe Dube, Barry Irving and Eddy Firth. Honourary pallbearers were Henry Morin, Barth Firth, Steve Blanchette, Gerald Cleveland, Art Bacon and Bev Mann. Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
Geneviève "Jeanne" LeClair
At the Villa Beauséjour of Caraquet, May 4, 2005, Mrs. Geneviève "Jeanne" LeClair of the Villa Beauséjour of Caraquet, N.B. formerly of Richardsville, passed away at the age of 86. She was the wife of the late Wilfred LeClair. She was the daughter of the late Stanislas Arseneau and the late Arthémise Finn.
She is survived by two brothers-in-law: Agapit Roy (late Mae) of Résidence Inkerman and Amédée Dugas (late Rita) of Campbellton; one sister-in-law, Colombe (late Olivier) of Pokemouche; as well as several nieces and nephews: Emdond, Louise, Bernard and Alice Roy, Jean-Guy, Gilles, Roger and Francine Cormier, Thérèse, Anne, Pierrette, Irène, Monique, Claire and Sylvie Arseneau, Alvine and Serge Landry. Several godchildren: Anne Gignac, Sylvie Arseneau, Ronald McInnis and Bernard Roy, and also several cousins.
She was predeceased by three sisters: Léona, Mae and Rita; one brother, Olivier, and also two godchildren: Malcolm Falconer and Raphaël McGraw.
Mrs. LeClair was the last member of her immediate family.
The funeral service was held at the Immaculée-Conception Church in Pokemouche on Saturday, May 7. Interment will be at McLeods Cemetery. Donations to La Villa Beauséjour of Caraquet would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements were placed in the care of Racicot Funeral Home, Caraquet, N.B.
Arnold Talbot
The death of Arnold Talbot of Belledune, Husband of Dorina (Landry), occurred Thursday, May 5, 2005, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst at the age of 80.
Born in Belledune, he was the son of the late Joseph Talbot and Margaret Elsliger. Arnold was a veteran of the Second World War and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Durham Branch #77. He was employed at the Goosebay Labrador Air Base until 1951. He then joined the firm of S. McNally & Sons, Contractors in Hamilton, Ont. until his retirement in 1975. After his retirement he settled in his native village of Belledune, where he built and operated the Belle-Dune Motor Inn until it was sold in 1989.
Arnold was active in community affairs. He worked for several years on the Belledune Planning Commission and served as Mayor of the Village of Belledune.
Besides his wife of fifty-two years, he is survived by two brothers; Ralph (Bernice) of Hamilton, Ont. and Sanford of Belledune; a sister-in-law, Rita Talbot of Hamilton, Ont., as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was pre-deceased by brothers Reginald, Harry, Arthur, Leslie, and sisters Mona and Edna.
His funeral was held Saturday, May 7, 2005, from St. John the Evangelist Church, Belledune, with burial in the Parish Cemetery, officiated by Father Wilfred Benoit. Pallbearers were Allie Culligan, Leo Firlotte, Everette Boulay, Alyster Chalmers, Jimmy Talbot and Clark Tardiff. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Landry, Ralph Flanagan,
