Beverly Garth Cooper

It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Beverly Garth Cooper.

Garth died suddenly at his home in North Bay, Ontario on April 8 at the age of 67. He lived his early life in Campbellton and Moncton.

He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his daughter, Carrie Lynn of Whistler, B.C., wife Brenda of North Bay, brother Ian (Helaine), niece Kim (Paul), nephew David (Joanna) and their families of Ottawa, aunt Ethel McDavid of Campbellton and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Verona Cooper.

Garth's largely attended funeral was held on April 13 at Emmanuel United Church, North Bay under the direction of Martyn's Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place with interment in North Bay. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choosing.

Donald Fraser MacLeod

D.F. MacLeod passed away peacefully at the Rockview Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on March 20, 2006. Formerly of Campbellton and Flatlands, N.B. Husband of Hazel, father of John and Debbie, brother of Isobel, Millie, Willa, Mildred and Earl. Predeceased by his parents Earl and Christina Macleod, by sister Donalda and brother James, killed in World War II. Special celebration was held at Odgen Legion Branch #154 in Calgary on March 23, 2006.

Gladys May Archibald MacDonald

Gladys MacDonald, 91, passed away peacefully Friday May 5th, 2006 at the Regional Hospital. Born July 19, 1914 in Sydney, N.S. she was the daughter of the late William Grant MacDonald, and Carolyn Edith Murray MacDonald. She was predeceased by her sister Isabel MacDonald. She is survived by her cousin Margaret Wagnon of Los Gator California and Margaret's daughter Gayle Hayes of Auberry, California. She will be sadly missed by her devoted friends Ann Chedore & Tammy Smith.

After graduating from Mount Allison University, Gladys came to Campbellton in 1942 and spent almost all of her life devoted to the ministry of music. She was organist and choir director of First United Church for 50 years and over the years taught piano and organ to hundreds of students, some of whom have made music their career.

Proudly she was a Life Member of the United Church Women, a charter member of the Campbellton Business and Professional Women's Club a founding member of the Restigouche Music Festival and a member of the Chaleur Chapter IODE. Although best known for her music, she was also an accomplished artist photographer, seamstress, bowler and knitter in her earlier years. She loved to travel to music conventions all over the world always managing to visit there many friends along the way.

She will be greatly missed by all those whom she touched. The funeral was held from First United Church in Campbellton on Monday, with Rev. Genevieve Trudel officiating May 8th, at 3 p.m. Pall bearers were Ralph Mann, Don Mann, Jack Chedore, Bill Busteed, Bill Duncan and Ian Adams. Honorary Pallbearers were Vickie Delaney, Kay Mann, Peggy Steeves, Kay Wood, Kip Watling, Heather Cortes and Gail Carleton. Organist was Hugh Gorham, Campbellton, Soloist Jane (Jagoe) Bowers, Milton, ON and the choir consisted of members of First United Church Senior Choir, Men's Choir, Community Chorale and The Carolers. Arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home Campbellton. Burial will be in Sydney, N.S.

HOWELL, Stephen Patrick

Died suddenly but peacefully, at his home in Glenlevit on April 14th, 2006. Born December 26th, 1921 in Atholville, to the late Charles Howell and Nellie Caissie. He is pre-deceased by brothers, Burton, Hayes, Homer, Raymond and one sister, Delilah. He will be missed by wife, Yvette, daughters Nathalie (George) White of Campbellton, Renee (Brian Noye) Howell of Glencoe., three grandchildren, Jessica, Jonathan and Sidney and one sister, Theresa (Tess) of Boston, Massachussetts. A funeral service was held on May 2nd, at L'Eglise Notre Dame de Lourdes in Atholville..

Kenneth Wilbur Keays
1920 - 2006

The death of Kenneth Wilbur Keays, 85 years, husband of Lillian of Ninth Street, Moncton, and formerly of Campbellton, NB, occurred at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, April 27, 2006. Born in Oak Bay, PQ he was the son of the late William and Minnie Keays.

Mr. Keays was owner and operator of Ken's Trucking in Campbellton prior to his retirement several years ago. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed fishing, hunting, hockey, baseball and especially watching sports on TV with his wife Lillian. He also enjoyed playing cards. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served overseas.

In addition to his wife of 66 years, Lillian (Gionet), he is survived by his daughters Isabell Albert (George) of Miramichi and Eileen LeBlanc (Paul) of Moncton; his sons Raymond (Rose) of Moncton, Robert (Carol) of Boundary Creek and Gary of Dieppe. He is also survived by his brother Richard (Nellie) of Oak Bay, PQ, a sister Hazel Campbell (late Charles) of Cascapedia, PQ, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother and sister in law Walter (Edna), his sisters and brothers in law Helen Wylie (Frank) and Ruby Wylie (Grant).

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 7, at 3:30 pm in Cadman Bowness Funeral Home (857-1110), 114 Alma Street Moncton. A reception will follow in the reception room of the funeral home.

Lionel Hubert Maisey
1915 - 2006

At "The Village" Nursing Home on May 3, 2006 passed away at the age of 90, Mr. Lionel "Joe" Maisey. Born in Campbellton on July 20, 1915, he is the son of the late Hubert Maisey and the late Suzanna Antle.

Besides his wife, Mrs. Anita Maisey (born Doiron), he leaves to mourn his daughter: Mavis (Weldon) Pollock, Nackawic, NB; his son: Mitchell (Gail) Maisey, Grand Cache, Alberta; one sister Joyce Maisey; one brother Gordon Maisey; 6 grand children and 10 great grand children.

Having worked for the Canadian National Railways and as a longshoreman for some 45 years, he also enjoyed hockey, boating, fishing, skating and bowling.

He is predeceased by his sisters: Muriel (Baxter) MacFarlane, Ruby (Jack) Mackey, Hazel (Herb) Brown; his brothers: Harold, Buster (Gertrude), Doug (Mary), Arnold (Marie) and Gerald.

The funeral service was held from Maher's Funeral Chapel, Campbellton, Saturday, May 6th at 11am. Reverend Kraglund officiating.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
