Ethel Bernatchez (Legacy)

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on May 6, 2009 at the age of 86, Mrs. Ethel Bernatchez (Legacy) of Campbellton. Born in Charlo on April 2, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Legacy and the late Eva McNeil. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, she liked bowling, playing darts and bingo. She leaves to mourn her daughters Rita from Ste-Agathe des Monts, Margaret (Doucet) Campbellton, Barbara (Adrien) Campbellton, Ethel Jr. Victoriaville, Patricia Cocagne and Sandra Campbellton, her sons Alex (Thérèse) from Point Clark, ON, John Shediac, Danny (Yvette) Moncton, Gary (Colette) Balmoral, Phil (Valerie) Moncton and Brian (Denise) Atholville, her sisters Donia (Babin) from Dalhousie, Mary Lou (Roy Boyce) Dalhousie, Diane (Robert Kingston) Hawkesbury, ON, Jeannie (Guy Leclair) Welland, ON and Helen (Legacy) St-Omer, QC, her brothers Doug (Rita) Ottawa, ON, Martin (Helen) Dalhousie, Valmont (Joyce) Dalhousie and Delphis (Jocelyne) Dalhousie, care takers for mom Noella, Nina and Julianna. Also survived by her 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 28 nieces & nephews, sister-in-law Pat (Legacy) and brother-in-law Isidore Bernatchez. Predeceased by her husband Marcel Bernatchez, brothers Johnny, Lloyd, sister Margaret, brother-in-law Hector Babin, sister-in-law Jeannine Legacy and 2 nephews. The funeral mass was held from Our Lady of Snows Church Campbellton on Monday May 11th at 2pm. Father Romeo Morrison officiating. Interment at St. John Baptist Cemetery Dalhousie later on this spring. Pallbearers were Alex, Phil, Gary and John Bernatchez. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Carl J. Malchow
1930 - 2009

Carl J. Malchow 1930 - 2009 Carl John Malchow, of Dieppe and formerly of Calgary and originally from Campbellton NB, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont hospital, Tuesday, May 5, 2009 following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. Carl enjoyed a wonderful 78 years of life. Carl will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Corinne (LeBlanc), his children, Charles (wife Karen) of Edmonton, AB, Caroline (husband David) of Geneva, Switzerland, and Paul (wife Marthe) of Dieppe, NB, and grandchildren, Crystal (Brown), Jessica (Ellis), Christopher (Malchow), Mélanie and Julie (Malchow). He is also survived by seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Campbellton, NB, July 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Herman and Estelle (Daigle). Carl was predeceased by his brothers Harold and Charles as well as his sister Margaret. Carl worked for the City of Campbellton for 25 years, retiring as Fire Chief. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club of Canada and the Knights of Columbus. After his retirement from the City of Campbellton, Carl and Corinne relocated to Calgary to be near their youngest son Paul and their daughter Caroline. In 2008, Carl, Corinne, Paul and family returned to the Maritimes and settled in Dieppe NB. A funeral mass will be held at Ste-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe, NB on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 11 am. Interment at the Chartersville Funeral Home Columbarium, Dieppe, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be welcomed. A very special " Thank You " to all staff of the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion. Jeanne Arpin Huibers

Passed away at the Thompson General Hospital on April 26, 2009 at the age of 62 years, Mrs Jeanne Arpin Huibers after a long battle with cancer. Born in Campbellton on May 26, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Elie Arpin and late Vitaline Godin. She leaves to mourn her husband Leo Huibers, her daughter Kimberley, her son Leo Junior (Krista) Brandon, Manitoba and her four grand children. Also survived by one brother Luis (Shirley) on Ontario, three sisters Nicole (Gerald) Doucet of Tide Head, Agnès (Raoul) Guitard and Thérèse (Paul) Doucet of Atholville. Funeral services held April 30, 2009 at St-Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Thompson Manitoba with Father Eugène Whyte officiating.
