Obituaries

Eliza Mildred Fitzgerald

The death of Eliza Mildred Fitzgerald of 97 Victoria Street, Campbellton, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on June 11, 2005, at the age of 86.

Born in Port Daniel, Quebec, on February 19, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Augustus Fitzgerald and the late Eliza Ramier.

Surviving are sons Edward R. Fitzgerald of Campbellton and William Wayne Fitzgerald of Campbellton, sister Elizabeth Fitzgerald, brothers Ralph Fitzgerald and Allan Fitzgerald.

Predeceasing her were her parents Augustus and Eliza and husband Alva Fitzgerald.

The funeral was held from Gateway Assembly Church in Campbellton on June 14, 2005, officiated by Rev. Robert Masters, with interment in the Campbellton Rural Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Eugene Savoie

The death of Eugene Savoie of 8A Prince William Street, Campbellton, occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst on June 11, 2005, at the age of 66.

Born in Val D'Amours on March 6, 1939, he was the son of the late Omer Savoie and the late Florida Savoie.

Surviving him are his wife Doris (Bouchard) Savoie, daughter Monique (Tim) Savoie of Fredericton, sons Jacques Savoie of Campbellton and Allain (Julie) Savoie of Campbellton, sister Marie (Claude) Audet of Val D'Amours. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceasing him were his parents Omer and Florida and brother Delphis.

The funeral was held from Notre Dame du Sacré Coeur Church in Val D'Amours on June 13, 2005, officiated by Father Emile Godin, with interment in the Val D'Amours cemetery. Pallbearers were Allain Savoie, Jeffrey Savoie, Joshua Savoie, Ryan Savoie, Jean-Guy Savoie and Pascal Chiasson. Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Langford William Barton

The death of Langford William Barton of 531 Vanier Street, Campbellton, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on June 13, 2005, at the age of 93.

Born in Cross Point, Quebec, he was the son of the late Mansfield Barton and the late Selina Hunt.

Langford was a retired Millwright with the NBIP Mill in Dalhousie and a carpenter. He was also a member of the Richardsville Golden Age Club and an avid bowler.

Surviving are his daughters Brenda (Gary) Oakes of Rothesay, N.B. and Barb (Evan) Harding of Dalhousie, N.B., son Shane (Monique) Barton of McLeods, eight grandchildren Lana (Daniel) Bissonnette and Kim (Eugene) Bourgeois of Moncton, Lori (Carl) Roherty of Matapedia, Tracy (Keith) Foster of Fall River, N.S., Susie (Dave) Benoit of Dalhousie, Kevin (Sylvie) Harding of Grand Falls, Chad Barton of Calgary and Brock Barton of Boston. Also surviving are six great grandchildren Tony and Sam Bourgeois, Josh Foster, Cori Tegan and Jamie Leigh Benoit, Molly Grace Roherty, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Predeceasing were his parents Mansfield and Selina, wife Muriel Grace Thompson, two brothers George and Shirley, four sisters Mabel, Violet, Winifred and Edith.

The funeral was held from Maher's Funeral Chapel on June 16, 2005, officiated by Rev. Genevieve Trudel, with interment in the Campbellton Rural Cemetery. Pallbearers were son Shane Barton, grandsons Brock Barton and Kevin Harding, sons-in-law Evan Harding and Gary Oakes, and friend Mark Parker. Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Linden Wadsworth Beckingham

The death of Linden Wadsworth Beckingham of 442 Victoria Street, Dalhousie occurred at the Campbellton Hospital on June 11, 2005. Born in Dalhousie on October 18, 1917, Lin was the son of the late Stewart and Myrtle (Atkinson) Beckingham. He was predeceased by his wife Josephine G. (Roix) Beckingham.

Surviving Lin are his children Beth (Claude) Chapman of Miramichi, Frances Beckingham of Dalhousie, Sarah (Bob) Archer of New Mills, Stewart (Lynda) and Sandy (Michelle) of Dalhousie. He is also survived by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother Ronald Beckingham in Hamilton, Ontario.

Linden was employed by the N.B.I.P. Co. for 44 years and had been retired for 22 years.

A memorial service was held at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Dalhousie. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

Internment to be at the cemetery in New Mills at a future date.

Douglas Wirtanen

Douglas Wirtanen formerly of Campbellton, N.B., passed away on June 11, 2005, at the age of 44. He is survived by his brothers, Peter, Randy and Timothy, his sisters Sandra and Patricia and his only son Christopher.

Cremation has taken place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, his home for the past ten years.

A service was held in Campbellton on June 18, 2005.

His ashes were buried with his Father and Mother, Randolph and Catherine Wirtanen and his beloved brother Bobby.

His family would like to thank everyone's kind wishes and support in their time of need, it was greatly appreciated.
