David Matthew Dickson Swan
1958-2012

David M. D. Swan of Magundy, NB passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 22, 2012. David was born at Campbellton, NB in 1958. He was adored by many for his unique talents and intellect. He was a musician, artist, magician, historian, teacher, living history interpreter and actor. He spent the happiest years of his life working with friends who became his second family at Kings Landing. He will be greatly missed.

David is survived by his parents, Gladys (Dickson) Swan, Campbellton, NB and Dr. Matthew Swan (Sandra), Matapedia, Quebec; his sisters, Ann Swan-Boudreau (Ernie), Bathurst, NB, Jane Swan, New York, NY and Marie Valderrama, Montreal, Quebec and his nephews, Jeremy and Brett Boudreau.

Visitation was held at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Highway 3, Harvey Station, NB A funeral service was held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 2412 Highway 3, Harvey Station, NB on Sunday, August 26, 2012 with Rev. Wendy MacWilliams officiating. Reflections on David's life were delivered by Jim Devito, Sheryl Bartlett and Jeremuy Boudreau as well as several other friends who were attending the service. Scripture was read by David's sister, Ann Swan-Boudreau. Music was provided by Michelle Daigle, Don Rigley and Kelsey Nevers. Interment took place at Harvey Settlement Cemetery followed by a reception in the church fellowship room. Memorial services were held for David in Halifax, NS and in Massachusetts at the same time on Sunday as well.

Honorary pallbearers were Elizabeth Devito, Loreen Scammell, Doug Scammell, Claire Bartlett-Laver, Kathryn Bartlett and Tasha Bartlett.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of David, the family has suggested the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the S.P.C.A.

Gilbert Roy

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on August 16, 2012 at the age of 86, Mr. Gilbert Roy of Campbellton, husband of the late Alice LeBlanc Roy.

The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Snows Church Campbellton on Monday at 2:00 pm.

Visitation at Maher's Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne Street Campbellton, Monday from 12:30pm until time of funeral.

Donations to the Tree of Hope would be appreciated by the family.

Hilda Louden

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on August 13, 2012 at the age of 100, Mrs. Hilda Louden, lifelong resident of Campbellton and last surviving member of her family.

Hilda was retired from Canadian National Railways in 1976.

Hilda was very active all her life having many interests, such as travelling, knitting, reading and especially looked forward to family gatherings.

She is survived by her niece and primary caregiver, Muriel , as well as fourteen other nieces and nephew and their families.

The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Snows Church Campbellton on Friday at 11:00 am.

J. Phillippe Roger Parker

Passed away at the Veteran's Unit of the Campbellton Regional Hospital on August 15, 2012 at the age of 90, Mr. Roger Parker.

He will be sadly missed by his children Anne of Campbellton, Cindy of Campbellton, Leonard (Francine) of Moncton, Barry (Janet) of Alberta, David (Brenda) of Campbellton. He will also be missed by his sister Germaine Parker-Lavigne, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Charles T. Parker and Suzanne Ferlatte, his wife Marion, sisters Alice and Rita, brothers Leo, Paul and Robert.

Sister Anne-Marie J. Chiasson

Sister Anne-Marie Jeanne Chiasson, f.j., 96, in religion, Sr. Patrice Maria, f.j., passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital Centre. She was in the 72nd year of her religious profession. Born in Rogersville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Médric Chiasson, of Margaree, NS, and of the late Marie-Hélène Doucet, of Petit-Rocher, NB.

Besides her religious family, she is survived by one sister, Evangéline Strootman of Maryland, U.S.A.; three brothers: Antonio of Michigan, U.S.A., Albert of Edmundston, NB, and Guy of Montreal; several nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by four sisters and five brothers.

Sister Anne-Marie spent her active life first as a teacher from 1941 to 1963 in Chéticamp, NS, then at Dalhousie, NB, Saulnierville, NS, and Rogersville, NB. In 1964, she was elected as General Councillor in France, then from 1970 to 1980, she served as Superior General of the Congregation of Les Filles de Jésus. After her return to Canada, and a time of sabbatical, she worked as community Superior or Director of Senior residences in Sydney, NS, Moncton, Nash Creek and Grande-Anse, NB. In 1993, she retired at our Provincial House in Moncton, but continued to serve as spiritual director to sisters and lay people. In 2001, because of health problems, she had to move to the infirmary of the vice-provincial house. In 2010, she was transferred with her sisters to Monarch Hall in Riverview. On Sunday, August 12, she was admitted to the Georges-Dumont Hospital where she passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012.
