Yves Pitre

The death of Yves Pitre of Val D'amour occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on January 4, 2002.

He was born on April 5, 1968 to George Pitre Jr. and Clairine Doucet and worked as a truck driver and mechanic for 17 years. He was a committee member of his parish centre.

He is survived by his common-law wife, Geraldine Doucette of Val D'Amour; his parents, Clairine and George; his parents-in-law, Catherine and Jerry Doucette; his sons, Joshua and Eric of Val D'Amour; his maternal grand-mother, Albertine Doucet, his brothers-in-law, Randy (Rose Marie) Doucette of Campbellton, Mike (Diane) Doucette of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and Robert (Lisa) Doucette of Elliot Lake, Ontario; his sisters, Therese (Vaughn) Poirier of Eel River Crossing, Denise (Laureat) Maltais of Campbellton, Dolores (Denis) Fournier of Eel River Crossing, Gilberte (Luc) Soucy of Eel River Crossing, Mona (George) Savoie of Campbellton and Jacqueline (Randy) Roy of Atholville; his brothers, Gilles (Donna) of Edmundston, Michel of Campbellton and Yvon (Anne) of Val D'Amour; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Edmond Doucet and his paternal grandparents, George and Regina Pitre.

Funeral services were held January 7 from Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur with Father Godin officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.

The pallbearers were Gilles Pitre, Luc Soucy, Michel Pitre, Randy Roy, Yvon Pitre and George Savoie.

The honourary pallbearers were Vaughn Poirier, Denis LeBlanc, Freddy Cyr, Denis Fournier, Gaston Letourneau, Louis Pitre, Laureat Maltais and George Roy.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Effie Hilliard

The death of Effie Hilliard of Lorne, widow of the late Joseph Hilliard, occurred suddenly on January 14, 2002 at the age of 73.

She was born in Dalhousie to James Lavigne and Esther St. Onge.

She is survived by daughters Donna (Adrian) Godin and Sharon Carrier, both of Lorne; Son Jimmy (Branda) of Lorne and sisters Alphonsine and Hilda, both of Lorne.

She was predeceased by husband Joseph, her parents and brothers Albert, Manuel, Gordon and Vincent

Funeral services were held January 17 from St. Marie Goretti church, Lorne with interment in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were Justine Furlotte, Anne MacPherson, Perry O'Brian, Joe Mallaley, Justin Godin and James Lapointe.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillian Funeral Home, Black Point.

Frederick (Fred) Joseph Kelly

The death of Frederick (Fred) Joseph Kelly of 174 Lansdowne Street, Campbellton occurred in Campbellton on December 22, 2001 at the age of 80.

He was born in Campbellton on November 12, 1921 to Thomas Kelly and Margaret Kaine and had been retired from Canadian National Railway after 35 years of service. He attended Christ Church Anglican, Campbellton and served the congrgation as an usher-greeter and teller. He belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion, the Hong Kong Veterans Association and was president of the Campbellton branch of the Kidney Foundation.

During World War Two, he served with the Royal Rifles of Canada from 1940 to 1946 and was a prisoner of war (Hong Kong) from 1941 to 1945.

He was the last surviving member of his family and is survived by his wife, Marion Miller of Campbellton; his sons Michael (Mike) Kelly (Flora) of Campbellton and Patrick (Pat) Kelly (karen) of LaSalle, Ontario; his grandchildren Timothy Kelly of Tide Head, Stephanie Kelly of LaSalle, Ontario and Trevor Kelly of LaSalle, Ontario and great granddaughter Melinda Kelly.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Roy Kelly, his sisters Katherine Ross, Ellen Ramsay, May Doyle and Nora (Black) Murray, son Steven Kelly (1970) and daughter Heather Kelly (1998)

Funeral services were held from Christ Church Anglican, Campbellton on December 26, officiated by Rev. Bill Morton. Interment at the Campbellton Rural Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mark Caron, Randy Cronkite, Tim Kelly, Terry Miller, Fred Ramsey and John Mark Ramsay.

Honourary pallbearers were Hong Kong veterans Reginald Law, Bob Barter, Phil Dodridge, Arnold Ross, Henry Lyons, Vic Bujold and Dick Keays.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Jo Ann Carter Plourde

The death of Jo Ann Carter Plourde of Dalhousie occurred in Campbellton on January 19, 2002 at the age of 38 years.

She was born in Dalhousie on November 23, 1963 to Wilson Carter and Winnie Noel. She had worked as a clerk.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Winnie Carter of Dalhousie; sons Chris Plourde (14) and Mark Plourde (12), both of Dalhousie; brothers David (Polly-Anna) Carter of Eel River Crossing. Michael Carter of Dalhousie, Preston (Tracey) Carter of Dalhousie, John (Nancy) Carter of Miramichi, Harry (Ula) Carter of Dalhousie and Gussie (Sarah) Carter of Dalhousie and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father.

Funeral services were held January 22 from St. John Bosco Church, Dalhousie With Rev. E. Chamberlain officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were her six brothers.

Funeral arrangements were in care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.

Claudette Parent

The death of Claudette Parent of Charlo, originally from Richardsville, occurred in Charlo on January 5, 2002 at the age of 41.

She was born on November 6,1960 to Camille and Anita Parent and worked for Les Aventuriers de Charlo.

She is survived by her husband, Roland Desrosier of Mountain Brook; her mother, Anita (Delphis) Parent of Campbellton; her father, Camille (Ruby) Parent of Quesnel, B.C.; her son, Sébastien Parent of Mountain Brook; her sister, Linda Theodore Bujold of Campbellton,; her brothers, Mario (Diane) of St. Arthur and Daniel (Joyce) of Malauze and grandchildren Eric, Pierre-Luc, Chantale and Rémi Parent.

Funeral services were held from Marie-Reine church, Richardsville on January 8, officiated by Father Romeo Morrison. Interment in Campbellton.

Pallbearers were Jean-Marc Desrosier, Aurèle Desrosier, Claude Parent, Jean-Guy Maltais, Lee McIntyre and Marcel Perron.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
