Olive Bernadette Proulx

The death of Olive B. Proulx occurred on February 18, 2002 at the Restigouche Hospital Centre.

She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on September 12, 1917 to Louis Martel and Josephine Laderoute.

She is survived by her son Gerald of Mississippi, U.S.A., her daughters Dolores of Dalhousie Junction and Particia (Pat) of Saint John, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The memorial service was held Saturday, February 23, 2002, at the Kingdom Hall, Dalhousie Junction.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Rena MacDonald

The death of Rena MacDonald of 21 Dumont Terrace, Campbellton occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on Monday, February 11, 2002 at the age of 82.

She is survived by daughter Sharron Morrison of Guelph, Ontario and son Gary of Campbellton, one grandson and one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters, also from Guelph. She is also survived by sisters Gertie MacLean of Dalhousie Junction and Marguerite Weisner of New Minas, Nova Scotia and brother Charlie from Ontario.

Funeral services were held from Christ Church Anglican, Campbellton, on February 15 with Rev. Bill Morton officiating.

Pallbearers were Conrad Allard, Jackie McGovern, Bill Lavigne, Lloyd MacLean, Warren Woolham and Cameron McRae.

Warren Woodman
1957-2002

The death of Warren Woodman occurred January 29, 2002, in Dawson Creek, British Columbia at the age of 44 after a five month battle with cancer. Warren was born in Grand Cascapedia, Quebec, on May 11, 1957, to Bettie McCormick and Walter Woodman. His father predeceased him in February, 2000.

Warren is survived by his mother, Bettie of Grand Cascapedia; his daughter, Natasha, 16, of Dawson Creek; his son, Mark, 13, of Dawson Creek; his sisters, Edwina of Escuminac, Quebec, and Joan (John Sherren) of Oshawa, Ontario; and his brother, Walter of Grand Cascapedia.

He also leaves to mourn his nephew, David Landry of Montreal; his niece, Danielle Landry Diaz, Maria, Quebec; his nephew, Edward Woodman of Medicine Hat, Alberta; his nephew Steven Woodman of Grand Cascapedia as well as one great-nephew, Jélani Diaz of Maria.

Funeral services were held from St. Andrew's United Church in New Richmond on February 4 with burial in the Black Cape Cemetery. The church service and hymns were the same as those at his father and grandparents' services. Reading were from Psalm 139 and Mark 11:22-24 read by Suzanne Landry and Myma McCormick. Words of Remembrance were presented by Donald Landry, Warren's brother-in-law. Rev. Darla Sloan gave a "Message of Comfort", reminding us that God did not give Warren his cancer. Pallbearers were Evan Sexton, Barry Coull, Paulo Ferland, Billy Harrison, Robby Pidgeon and Wayne Buron. A time of fellowship in the church hall followed the service and burial.

Joan Meir, Warren's children, loved ones and friends had, prior to the service at St. Andrew's, gathered to pay tribute and give thanks for Warren's life at a memorial service in Dawson Creek.

M.J. André Nadeau

The death of M.J André Nadeau of 323 Rue Principal, Eel River Crossing, occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital, Dalhousie, on February 25. He was 73.

Born in Dundee on January 10, 1929, he was the son of the late Octave and Emilia (LeClair) Nadeau and had worked in steel construction before retiring.

He is survived by four sisters, Alice Nadeau of Eel River Crossing, Alpheda Nadeau and Albertine (Daniel LeBlanc), both of Dalhousie and Maria (Donat Duguay) of Edmundton; two brothers, Albert of Dalhousie and Edward of St. Quentin and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers John, Raymond, Walter and Emanuel and a sister, Delima.

The funeral will be held from Holy Trinity Church, Eel River Crossing, this afternoon at 4:00 with Fr. William Arseneault officiating.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.

Hilda Elizabeth Laxton

The death of Hilda Elizabeth Laxton of the Dalhousie Nursing Home, widow of Benoit Laxton, occurred on February 16, 2002, at her residence.

She was born in Dalhousie on October 25, 1932, to Leo and Elizabeth Harquail.

She is survived by daughters Kathy (Michael) Renouf of Atholville and Debra (Richard) Jeffries of Welland, Ontario; sons Leo (Karen) Laxton of Moncton, Ben Laxton of Kitchener, Ontario and Ricky (Blanche) Laxton of Campbellton; sisters Catherine Kneeves and Clotilda Pierce, both of B.C. and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and three children; Sandra, Audrey and Bernard.

Funeral services were held from St. Thomas Aquinas Church February 20 with Rev. Wesley Wade officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Sheila Levesque

The death of Sheila Levesque occurred at her residence in Archibald Settlement on February 15 at the age of 45.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Carmichael; her daughters, Tina Carmichael (Rodney) of Seaside and Tiffany Carmichael of Archibald, her mother; Priscilla of Jacquet River, four brothers; Marcel (Louise) of Saint John, Clement of Toronto, Jerry of Bathurst and Patrick (Peggy) of Jacquet River; six sisters: Marella Furlotte (Emile) of Petit Rocher, Veronica Levesque (Eldric) of Moncton, Genevieve Guitard (Claude) of Green Point, Marie Guitard (Gabriel) of Jacquet River, Brenda Levesque (Nelson) of Oromocto and Darlene Levesque (Kevin) of Nackawic, many nieces and nephews and two special friends; Beatrice Guitard and Monica Legacy.

She was predeceased by her father, Jules.

Sheila will be remembered for her sense of humor, generosity to all and her positive outlook on life. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A lovely funeral service was held February 19 in Bethel United Church, Nash Creek, to a capacity crowd, with Rev. Victor Downs officiating. Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point.

Bob Furlotte

The death of Bob Furlotte of Dalhousie, husband of Barb (Godin), occurred at his residence on February 13, 2002 at the age of 51.

He was born in Dalhousie to Nicholas Jarvis Furlotte of Jacquet River and Margaret Joan Hill of Ireland.

Music played an important part in his life. He was known throughout the area as an entertainer and frequently appeared with his wife as Bob and Barb.

He is survived by his wife Barb, daughter April, mother Margaret, sister Diane Furlotte (Wally) of Dalhousie, brothers Dave (Linda) of Moncton, Melvin (Ann) of Bangor, Maine, and Michael (Joanne) of Dalhousie and by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Jarvis.

Funeral services were held from St. John Bosco Church, Dalhousie on February 18.

Pallbearers were David Furlotte, Melvin Furlotte, Michael Furlotte, Alan Godin, Wally Lindsay and Chris Gallie.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point.
