Lorraine Dunn
The passing of Lorraine Dunn of Montreal occurred on Friday, February 22, 2002, at the Hospital of Notre Dame de la Merci in Montreal at the age of 54.
She was the daughter of the late Arnold Dunn and Yvonne (Leblanc) Dunn of Atholville.
She was predeceased by her father, Arnold Dunn, two years ago.
She is survived by her mother, Yvonne Dunn of Atholville; her son, Jean-Christophe Babin; her daughter-in-law, Audrey; her granddaughter, Alexia (4) and her grandson, Nathan (1), all of Montreal. She is also survived by her brothers, Maurice (Pierrette) of Atholville, René (Diane) of Shediac, Richard (Marlene) of Atholville, and Conrad of Campbellton; her sisters, Louise (Herby) of Atholville, Blanche (Paul) of Beresford, Marin (Don) of Montreal and Alice (Ross) of Welland, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews.
She was employed by the Royal Bank Visa in Montreal where she resided.
Funeral services were provided by Salon Rideau of D.D.O. of Quebec.
A lovely service was held at St. Veronicas Church in Dorval, Quebec. The choir of which she was a member took part in the service.
Sanford Thomas
The death of Sanford Thomas of Robinsonville occurred on February 7, 2002, at the age of 68.
He was born in Robinsonville on July 17, 1933, to Harvey Thomas and Muriel Firth. He was a sport guide on the Upsalquitch and Restigouche Rivers, enjoyed hunting and fishing and attended St. Andrews Anglican Chuch.
He is survived by sisters Etta Dawson of Campbellton, Jane Moores of Robinsonville, Avis Mack of Winnipeg, Florence Carrier of Cornwall, Ontario, Eunice and Mabel of Robinsonville, Alma McInnis of Kingston, Ontario, and Hilda Thomas of Belleville, Ontario, and by brother Leonard of Detroit.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Muriel.
Funeral services were held from Mahers Funeral Chapel, Campbellton on February 10 with Rev. Andrew Fraser officiating. Interment in the Dawsonville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Colin Thomas, Johnnie Thomas, Johnnie MacDonald, Sandy Boudreau, Ricky MacDougall and Murray Moores Jr.
Honourary pallbearers were Gerald Cleaveland, Max Firth, Jack Firth, Don Harris, Lampdey Hunter, Pal Thomas, Joe Boudreau, Flewellyn Boudreau, Hick Firth, Murray Moores Sr., Lyman Murray and Billy Thomas.

J. John Murray
The death of J. John Murray of 130 Brunswick Street, Dalhousie, occurred on February 27, 2002 at the Bathurst Regional Hospital at the age of 76.
He was born in Glencoe on February 8, 1926 to Lawrence Murray and Alphonsine Jervais and had been a heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by his wife, Maria LaPointe; daughter, Marlene Narvie (Clarence) of Eel River Bar; son, Michael Murray (Carol) of Dalhousie; sisters, Christine MacLean of Dundas, Ontario. Grace Macey of Vancouver, Esther Jenkins of Ottawa, Betty Doyle of McLeods and Glenda Grimes of Campbellton; brothers Larry Jr. Murray of Campbellton and Bryce Murray of Moncton; grandchildren, Jeremy and Kayle Narvie and Jonathan and Shae-Lynn Murray; and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister Mamie and brother Simon, Paul, Leonard and George.
Funeral services were held from St. John Bosco Church, Dalhousie on March 1 with Rev. E. Chamberlain officiating. Interment in Glen Levit in the spring.
Active pallbearers were Jeremy Narvie, Bob Murray, Allan Murray, Gerald Cook, Dave Murray and Greg Doyle.
Honourary pallbearers were Jim Cantwell, Ambrose Casey. Edgar Arseneault, Billy Carter, Robbie Stewart and Rolly Barristo.

John P. Mackinnon
The death of John (Jack) P. MacKinnon of Campbellton occurred on February 18, 2002 in Campbellton at the age of 66.
He was born in Escuminac, Quebec, on January 16, 1936 to Amon P. MacKinnon and Helen Caroline Young.
He is survived by daughters Melody of Alberta, Mary Lou (Wayne Duguay) of Ontario, Starr of Moncton and Twila of Nova Scotia; son John of Ontario; sisters Faye (Carl) MacNair of Charlo, Charlotte (Howard) of Point la Nim and Elaine (Jack) Targett of Riverview; brothers Amon J. (Sheila) of Escuminac and Gale (Veronica) of Val Damour; aunts Muriel Court of Escuminac and Anne Trusler of New York; granddaughters Jennifer, Ashley and Jessica; grandsons Aaron, Christopher and Jalen; many nieces and nephews and one special niece, Donna.
He was predeceased by his parents, baby son Bradly and brother Frederick.
Funeral services were held from Christ Church Anglican, Campbellton on February 21, officiated by Rev. Morton. Interment in Escuminac, Quebec.
Pallbearers were Daryl Ross, Berry Ross, Howard Scott, Jack Targett, Gale MacKinnon, Amon McKinnon and Randy MacKinnon.
Gladys Richards
On Saturday, February 2nd, Mrs. Gladys Winona Richards of Osoyoos, B.C., formerly of Ontario, passed away at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 95 years.
Private cremation services will be held with interment of the urn at a later date in Ontario.
Glad will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, including her two children, Tom (Marion) of Osoyoos and Dale (Lois) Chelmsford, Ontario.
Her grandchildren, Brenda, Terry, Wayne, Todd, Kim and Tom, as well as her dear great grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Corey, Lauren, Oben, Madeline, Hannah and Max.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1985 as well as her grandchildren, Sandra, David and Darrell and her brother Oben and sisten Mildred and Lillian.
Glad was born in New Brunswick and raised and educated in Escuminac, Quebec. She worked for a time for the phone company in New Brunswick, then married and moved to Quebec. In the early 1950s, Glad and Tom moved to Ontario where they lived for many years. In 1995 Glad moved to Princeton, then to Osoyoos in 1996. Over the years she was an active and dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion. She enjoyed her spare time knitting, sewing and being with her family.

Antonio (Tony) Gallant
Antonio (Tony) Gallant, formerly of Matapedia, passed away in Ottawa on February 15, 2002 at the age of 83 years.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Reta. They had three children; Marc, Anne-Marie and Anita.
He was the brother of Rev. Alfred Gallant, Mrs. Marg. Anne St. Onge and Rosario Gallant, all of Matapedia, and Sister Agnes Gallant of Gaspé.
Beatrice Clapperton Michaud
The death of Beatrice Clapperton Michaud of Campbellton occurred at the Manoir Marie Antoinette on March 2, 2002 at the age of 87.
She was born in Chandler, Quebec, on January 17, 1915 to George Clapperton and Lydia Verge and was a nurse for 30 years. She belonged to Dames D'Acadie, Council on the Status of Women, Meals on Wheels, historical society and Federation Des Femmes Canadiennes FrAncaises.
She is survived by her daughters, Cecile Michaud of Tracy, Quebec, and Yvette Michaud of Halifax; her sons, Pierre Michaud (Claudette Shaw) of Ottawa, and Louis Michaud (Suzanne Legace) of Sarnia, Ontario; her sisters Marie (Edouard Guide) of Montreal, Aime (the late Gerard Corriveau) of Montmagny, Quebec, and Therese (Rene Dube) of Rimouski, Quebec; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents George and Lydia, her husband Benoit (1949) a brother, Gage and two sisters, Florine and Marguerite.
Funeral services will be held from Notre Dame Des Neiges Church this afternoon at 2 p.m. with Father Emile Godin and Father Romeo Morrison officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
The pallbearers will be the parish guard.

Donald Ray Archibald
The death of Donald Ray Archibald occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on February 13, 2002.
Donnie was born on February 4, 1945 and was the son of the late William Archibald and Ethel (Dunn) Archibald of Glen Levit.
He leaves to mourn his wife Muriel (Irving) Archibald, adopted son Joseph, daughter Shelly Archibald (Paul Legacy), two grandchildren, Britanny and Cyle of Nova Scotia. One brother, Charlie Archibald and his wife Liz of Cambridge, Ontario; three sisters, Marie and her husband Roy Thompson of Cooktown, Ontario, Edna and her husband William Karen and her Husband Roger Pollock of Glen Levit.
Donnie had many nieces and nephews and cousins in our community and also in Ontario.
Donnie was well known in our community as a good foster dad and the many things he was involved with in our community. He worked at CPR and Canadian Tire in Toronto. He worked with North East Pine in Atholville and also at T.R. MacKenzies. In his younger days he worked with Esso in Campbellton and Dalhousie.
He served the Lord in his church, on the board, teaching Sunday school, as a church usher and many more responsibilities around the church.
He was predeceased by his sister Marion, his father William Archibald, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. E. Dunn and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Archibald.
The funeral was held from the North Shore Community Church in Dalhousie Junction. The message was given by Reverend John Spurrell and the scripture reading by Reverend Eugene Lanctin and Vickie Spurrell.
The closing bymn was In the Sweet Bye and Bye. The placing of flowers for his nephews, nieces and cousins were Charlie Archibald, Mary-Lou Cooling, Doreena Firth, Debbie Scerba and Muriel Archibald.
Honourary pallbearers were Junior Mann, Walter Brisk, Robert Brisk, Paul Brisk, Vera Duthie and Maude McLeod.
Active pallbearers were Alphie Scerba, Dale Munn, Willy Mann, Danny Smith, Gary Pollock and Reginald Cooling Junior.
These were friends of Donnie over the past 22 years.
A spring burial with committal service will take place in the Dawsonville Cemetery.

I will miss you my darling, my heart will always be broken, tears will come but laughter will come in time.
33 years of our marriage was a joy for me, even though we had a lot of sickness and sorrow, we can say, my darling, we had a lot of laughs.
I will love you always and will never go away.
Till we meet again, my love, Your wife, Muriel and Children.
Stuart (Tui) Arnold Adams
The death of Stuart Arnold Adams of 300 Dover Street, Campbellton, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on March 4, 2002.
He was born in Campbellton on September 19, 1925, to Clifford Herbert Adams and Helen Janice Mowat and was a school custodian.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Worrell Adams; his daughters, Julie McDonald of Toronto, Janice (Michel) Guitard of Glencoe and Jane Adams of Campbellton; his son, Stuart (Margaret) Adams of Toronto; his grandchildren, Grace McDonald, Reid McDonald, David Guitard and Pamela Guitard, Stuart D. Adams, Brendan Adams, Robert McDonald, Geoffrey Guitard and Anthony Guitard, and a great-grandchild, Kendra Beth Adams.
He was predeceased by one sister, Dawn Gallup, and one brother, Gerald Adams.
There will be no funeral service. Interment in the Campbellton Rural Cemetery at a later date.

Adelard Vautour
The death of Adelard Vautour of Pointe-à-la-Croix, Quebec, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on March 1, 2002, at the age of 79.
He was born to Cyril Vautour and Emma Gauthier on December 10, 1922, at Laketon, N.B. and baptized at St. Margarets, N.B. He lived in Pointe-à-la-Garde and was a resident of Pointe-à-la-Croix at the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn his companion of 25 years, Rose-Aimee Doyle; his step-daughters, Irene Doyle and Margaret (Charles Berthelot) Doyle, both of Campbellton; his brother, Gerard (Pauline) Vautour of Pointe-à-la-Croix and his sister, Josephine (Clifford) Gaudin of Brockville, Ontario. He also had many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Blanche Parent (1977); his mother (1978); his father (1977); his brothers, Arthur (1983) and Marcel (1994); his sister-in-law, Corrine (Gerard) and her three children, Stephane, Stephanie and Celida who were lost in a fire in 1979. He was also predeceased By his brother-in-law, Clifford (Josephine) Gaudin.
He worked at an early age as a woodsman and once walked from Kedgwick to Campbellton with a horse. He worked for the nuns of Oak Bay for 10 years; for W.T. Cook, he drove a school bus, and worked for the Alexanders and their uncle, Buzzy Sansom.
He was widely known and he will be sadly missed by many. His patience, sense of humour, large heart and readiness to help were well known by all who knew him. Many took a walk back in time through local history with him.
The funeral Mass was Monday, March 4th, at Pointe-à-la-Garde Church. Pallbearers were Michel Vautour, Jacques Vautour, Danny Brown, Allan Dionne, Michel Perkinson and George Landry. His favorite song "Partons la mer est belle" was song upon request of the family by the Atholville choir at the closing of the mass.

Marie Anne Parker
The death of Marie Anne Parker of the Manoir Marie Antoinette, Atholville, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on February 28, 2002 at the age of 95.
She was born in Val D'Amour on June 26, 1906 to Narcisse Theriault and Melina Parent and was a housewife.
She is survived by her daughters, Marguerite (Albert) Audet of Glen Levit, Hectorine (Roger) Bissonnette of Balmoral, Marie Anne (Eustin) Chambers of Balmoral and Emerilda (Raymond) Mallet of Selwood; her sons, Everett of Trois Rivieres, Quebec, Adrien (Irene) of Port Cartier, Quebec, Amedee (Celine) of Alberta and Charles of McLeods; her sister, Marie Blanche LeBlanc of the Campbellton Nursing Home; and by grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Narcisse and Melina and her husband, Hector.
Funeral services were held from Saint John Vianney Church, Dundee, on March 1 with Father Arseneau officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
The pallbearers were her grand-children.
