Frances Coughlan Holm
The family of Frances Coughlan Holm is saddened to announce her death, which occurred at the Fort Walton Medical Center, in Fort Walton Beach, Fl, on December 20, 2003, after a long illness.
Frances was born January 18, 1943, in Dalhousie, N.B. She was the youngest child of Walter S. and Jeanette (Levesque) Coughlan, longtime residents of Montgomery Street.
Frances was educated at local schools and subsequently moved to Montreal after completion of a secretarial diploma at the Sacred Heart Convent.
Most of her adult life was spent in a variety of communities in the U.S.A., including Wyoming, Delaware, and FL.
During her lifetime she had been very active as a hospital volunteer and worked energetically for a cause most dear to her heart, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She was also a frequent contributor to scholarships established at the Okaloosa-Walton College in northwest FL.
Frances was an active participant in athletics, becoming a competitive player in tennis and golf.
Frances always had a special fondness for her hometown. Whenever she socialized, she could always regale her guests, friends and acquaintances with anecdotes about Dalhousie. She often returned to visit Dalhousie, to renew associations and to keep up on community progress. Her fondest memories centered on her neighbors, childhood friends, and high school classmates.
Her wit and humor were hallmarks of a joyous and outgoing personality. She touched many individuals with her generosity and kindness. Nothing pleased her more than family gatherings. She consistently delighted her siblings and relatives with surprise "cadeaux," which became her trademark. She took great delight in the intellectual, physical, and athletic progress of her nieces and nephews. Her family and friends were never far away as a telephone call.
Frances is survived by five siblings: Conrad (Bud) Coughlan, Moncton, N.B.; Gordon (Viv) Coughlan, Halifax, N.S.; Camilla (Rudy) Stoeckel, Melbourne Beach, FL; Patricia (David) Vaughan, Nicevillr, FL, and Joyce Cabott, Montreal, P.Q., and three aunts: Irene Doucet and Amanda Levesque of Moncton, N.B., and Stella Johnson, Ottawa, ON. She is also survived by nephews and nieces: Luke Coughlan, Donna Corby, Karla Coughlan, Conrad Coughlan Jr., and Sarah Cabott, and grand nephews and nieces Andrew, Marcus, Katie, and Taylor.
In Frances' memory, a nursing scholarship has been established at the Okaloosa-Walton College in Niceville, Fl.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be interred in the family plot Friday, July 30, at 1 p.m. In celebration of her life, a memorial service will be held at the Saint John Boscoe Church, Saturday, July 31 at 11 a.m.
Benoit LeClair
Benoit (Benny) LeClair of Lincoln, N.B., and formerly of Nackawic, N.B. and Dalhousie, N.B., passed away July 5, 2004, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Eel River Crossing in 1920, he was the son of the late Napoleon and Virginie (Fournier) LeClair. Benny was a Veteran of World War II and a member of the South Hampton Branch # 27, Royal Canadian Legion. He was a heavy equipment operator at C.I.P./N.B.I.P Dalhousie for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty E. (Boyd) LeClair, a daughter, Lise Parent (Raymond), Campbellton; 5 sons Gerald LeClair (Kathy), Thunder Bay Ont, Terry LeClair (Dorothy), Nackawic, David LeClair, Kamloops, B.C., Ronnie LeClair, Thunder Bay Ont, and Jamie LeClair (Deborah) Lincoln; 14 grandchildren and 13 great Grandchildren; 2 sisters, Armance Wilson, Woodstock, and Leah Guitard, Hamilton Ont; 2 bothers; Omer LeClair, Dalhousie and Israel, Paisley Ont; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Simon and St. Jude Catholic Church in Nackawic N.B. on Thursday, July 8, 2004, officiated by Father Dam Melanson.
Doug Parker
Family and friends were shocked to hear of the death of Doug Parker, age 43, on Januray 15, 2004, after a brief but painstaking battle with cancer, at the Toronto General Hospital, Toronto, Ont.
He was predeceased by his parents, Everett and Amelia Parker of Dawsonville, N.B. Also 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
He is survived by his wife and best friend Susan (Stubbs), son Darrell (Christina) of Etobicoke, Ont., daughter Pamela (Victor) Salisbury of Etobicoke, Ont., sisters Greta, of Atholville, N.B., Arlene (Ray) Blanchard of Brampton, Ont., brothers Kennedy of Etobicoke, Ont., and Eric (Diane) of Edmundston, N.B. Also many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Pallbeareres wer brother Kennedy Parker, nephew Raymond Blanchard Jr., Anthony Miletich (his boss), Gerry "Butch" McKenna (co-worker), Doug Warner (co-worker), Dave McGregor (best friend) and Shane McWilliams (nephew).
Doug worked for Norwood Fire Extinguishers Ltd. for a number of years, until he started radiation treatments. Previous to that he worked for Levitt Safety and King Fire Ext. His expertise in this line of work, plus his devotion to employers and co-workers, earned him many friends. This was witnessed at a pre-cremation service, which was held at a Funeral Home in Ontario on January 20, 2004.
Ashes will be placed with parents in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glen Levit on July 26, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., with Father Culligan officiating.
Rest in peace with God.
Florence Blaquiere
The death of Florence Marie Lorraine Blaquiere of 320 Pineault Street in Atholville, occurred at Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia on July 10, 2004,at the age of 67.
Born in Port Elgin, N.B. on September 3, 1936, she was the daughter of Valerie Brian and the late Eva Arseneault. She worked as an Admitting Clerk at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
She is survived by her husband Rosario Blaquiere of Atholville; father Valerie Brian of Port Elgin, N.B.; son Paul (Cindy) of Hampton, N.B.; brothers Ernest (Cecile) of Moncton, N.B., Danny of Regina, Saskatchewan, and Gary (Irma) of Oromocto, N.B.; and grandchildren Cory and Jessica, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother Eva.
The funeral was held from Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Atholville on Friday, July 16, 2004, officiated by Father Morrison with internment in the parish cemetery in Tide Head. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dignity memorial, Campbellton.
Jules Leger
Jules "Rusty" Leger, 78, passed away peacefully at home in Dartmouth on Saturday, July 17, 2004, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Moncton, N.B., the son of the late Camille and Rosa (Richard) Leger. Survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth Ann (Gillespie), brothers Robert of Montreal and Georges of New Germany, and sisters Rosaline Leger, Gilberte McDonald, Cecile Lebans, Elizabeth Donelle and Simonne LeBlanc, of the Moncton area. Loved by sons Daniel (Bonnie Woodworth) and Gregory (Kilby McRae) of Dartmouth, daughter Anne Marie (Robert Ferguson) of Scarborough, Ont., and son Michael (Patricia Bérubé) of St. Margaret's Bay, N.S. Adored grandfather of Claire, Zoe, Thomas, Pauline, Heather and Maureen.
Educated in Moncton, Jules served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. A well-known senior hockey player in the 1940s and 1950s as well as an avid curler, he was a charter member of the Beausejour Curling Club in Moncton and competed in provincial and national championships. Member of the Somme Branch, Royal Canadian Legion, Dartmouth Curling Club and Hartlen Point Golf Club.
Jules worked for CNCP Telecommunications for 43 years, stationed in Saint John, Fredericton, Moncton, Campbellton, N.B., and Halifax. He was an active member of the All-stream Pensioners Association.

Charles Irving
The death of Charles Irving of Glen Levit occurred suddenly on July 9, 2004, at the age of 52.
Born in Campbellton on May 18, 1952, he was the son of Everett Irving and Evangeline Doiron of Matapedia, Quebec.
He is survived by longtime partner and friend Carla Pollock of Campbellton, son Christopher and daughter Carrie Ann both of Glen Levit, mother Evangeline Irving of Matapedia, one sister Diane (Richard) of Nackawic, N.B., brothers Morton of Cross Point, Brian (Tammy) and Ronald (Maria) both of Matapedia, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father Everett Irving.
He was employed at the Restigouche Salmon Club for the last 20 years, he loved the river and his job. He loved fishing, hunting and walking in the woods. He was a great outdoorsman and was always willing to help anyone in need at anytime. He will be sadly missed and always remembered by all those who knew him.
Funeral services were held at St. Laurent Church in Matapedia on July 13, 2004, officiated by Father Perron of Amqui, Quebec. Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.
Active pallbearers were friends and co-workers Ricky Irvine, Jean Marc Savoie, Boyd Craswell, Allan Irvine, Kevin McNaughton and Collin Murphy. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Adams, Don Irving, Dusty Firth, David Mann, Brian McNaughton, Eve Dufour and Gerald Gray.
Arthur Bourque
The death of Arthur Bourque occurred suddenly at his residence in Petit Rocher on Thursday, July 15, 2004, at the age of 79.
Born in Kapuskasing, Ont., he was the son of the late William Bourque and Marie Arseneault. He was employed as a paper finisher at the Dalhousie mill for 42 years.
He is survived by his wife Jeannette (Poirier), son Richard (Lynn) of Petit Rocher, daughter Paulette Quinn (Daniel) of Edmonton, Alb., six grandchildren and his sister Isobel Arseneault.

Philomene Doyle
The death of Philomene Doyle of Jacquet River, wife of the late Henry Doyle, occurred July 13, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital, Dalhousie at the age of 91.
Born in Saint John, N.B., she was the daughter of Joseph Binet and Josephine Albert.
She is survived by her daughters Charlotte Guitard of Bathurst, Edna Russell of Belledune, Theresa Guitard (Wallace) of Belledune, Sarah Hickey of Fredericton, Ann Guitard (Eric) of Newcastle, Betty Arseneault of Belledune and Patricia Doucet (Rick) of Jacquet River as well as sons Patrick of Jacquet River, Myles of Jacquet River, Leslie (May) of Jacquet River, Gabriel of Jacquet River and Paul (Tony) of Jacquet River. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren. ten great great grandchildren, four sisters Louise, Loretta, Elizabeth and Irene and one brother Charles.

Lucie Roberge
On June 28, a former resident of this area passed away at the Centre Hospitaliere de la Chine, Dorval, Quebec, just a month before her 108th birthday.
Lucie Roberge was the wife of the late Tom Roberge and had lived in Dalhousie.
She leaves to mourn three daughters, Lucette of Montreal, Marcelle of Port Cartier, Quebec, and Pierette of Dorval, Quebec; two sons, John and Maurice, both of Bay Comeau. Two sons, Mac and Claude, predeceased her.
Mr. and Mrs. Roberge lived in Dalhousie for many years. Their children all went to school there.
Mr. Roberge is buried in Dalhousie. Mrs. Roberge went to live with her daughter Pierette, in Dorval when she was 80.
Friends will remember them fondly.
