Clifford Edward McDavid
1923 - 2008

Japanese Prisoner of War 1941 - 1945. This wonderful man passed away peacefully on August 3, 2008. Born on May 3, 1923 in Matapedia, Quebec. Beloved husband to Etta for 62 years. Loving father to daughters, Muriel, Vedra (Bill Shaw). Dear grandfather of Deborah (Predrag Pesikan) and Robert. Great grandfather to Sommer and Christian Clifford. Predeceased by son, John (April 2008); brothers, Wesley (WW 11 France), George (UN Peace Mission Egypt), Alex, and Maxwell; as well as sisters, Dorothy, Grace and Joan. Survived by his step mother Gertie; sisters, Isobel, Maisie, and Gloria; and brothers Milton and Lorne and their spouses. Adored uncle to many nieces, nephews and wonderful friend to all. Such a wise man in so many ways and generous beyond compare. A fond farewell to all his Hong Kong Veteran comrades. He will be remembered by those remaining as he had remembered those who went ahead to wait for his homecoming to be together once again. Family and friends are invited to visit Jerrett Funeral Home, Vaughan Chapel 8088 Yonge St., Thornhill on Tuesday August 5 from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 6th at 11 am. A special thank you to the loving caregivers at Hill House Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hill House Hospice, 36 Wright St., Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4C 4A1 will enable them to care for others as they did for this marvelous man.

Fernand Pinette
1931 - 2008

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on August 3, 2008 at the age of 76, Mr. Fernand Pinette. Born in Campbellton on December 11, 1931, he was the son of the late Francis Pinette and the late Elizabeth Cyr. He leaves to mourn his wife, Gisèle Pinette; his daughter, Annick Pinette-Matthews (Mike Matthews); his sister, Agathe Caissy. Also survived by his grandchildren, Alexander Matthews and Jacob Matthews. Predeceased by his brother, Camille Pinette. The funeral mass was held from Our Lady of Snows Church Campbellton on Thursday August 7th at 11am. Father Romeo Morrison officiating. Interment at the Parish Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Yvonne Daley

The death of Yvonne Daley of Benjamin, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, Sunday June 29th, 2008 at the age of 93. Born in Jacquet River, she was the daughter of Herman Ultican and Caroline (Culligan). She is survived by her daughter Katherine Casey (Lawrence) of Chilliwack, BC; Grandsons, Shawn Taylor of Benjamin; Arthur Taylor of Fredericton; Granddaughters, Sharon Taylor (Larry) of Sardis, BC; Patty Garner (Bert) of Sardis, BC; Great grandchildren Shane and Cristine Bernard, Alex Ellis, Maya, Autumn and Taylor Fiant, Adam Garner, sister Mary McCarron and half sister Catherine LaPointe. Yvonne was pre-deceased by her husband Walter; and brothers Justin, Pat and Joe. Her funeral was held from Our Lady of The Visitation Church, Benjamin Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Yvonne, CNIB would be appreciated by the family.
