Allen Gallon
The death of Allen Gallon of Sunnyside, husband of Elizabeth (Furlotte), occured August 10, 2005, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 63.
Born in Sunnyside, he was the son of the late James Gallon and Priscilla Duplacey.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, daughter Brenda Spencer (Eddy) of Cambridge, Ont., son Jamie (Julie) and two grandchildren. Also surviving is his twin brother Joseph Ivan Gallon of Cambridge, Ont.
His funeral service was held from St. Gabriel's Church, Jacquet River, on Saturday August 13, 2005, officiated by Father Wilfred Benoit, with burial in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Clayton Carrier, Dalton Furlotte, Merle Loubert, Donna Mallaley, Nancy Chamberlain and Roy Mallaley. Barbara Lapointe
The death of Barbara Lapointe of Lorne, occurred August 10, 2005, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 64.
Born in Lorne, she was the daughter of Bernadette (Hickey) and the late Leo O'Brien.
She is survived by her sons: Richard of Lorne, Glenn (Lisa-Ann) of Charlo, Kevin of Lorne, Bruce of Lorne, daughter Carmen LaPointe of Lorne and 6 grandchildren. She was also survived by brothers Alphie, Alzear, Romeo, Wayne, Dale, Mark, and sisters Edna Carrier, Doris Carrier, Doreen O'Brien, Darlene Godin, and Agnes Bolton. She was predeceased by her son Colin.
Her funeral was held August 12, 2005, at St. Maria Goretti Church in Lorne, officiated by Father Lionel Comeau, with burial in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Alphie, Alzear, Dale, Romeo, Marc and Jeffrey O'Brien. Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point.

Bertha Mary Johnson
The death of Bertha Mary Johnson of 77 Lansdowne Street, Campbellton, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on August 6, 2005, at the age of 50.
Born January 26, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Alcide Berthelot and the late Leona Doucette. Bertha was employed for five years in the Environment Services Department at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
Surviving is her common-law husband Dave Normand, daughter Wendy Johnson, son Paul (Sonny) Johnson (Melody Ferguson), and Jason Johnson (Ellie Lanteigne), sisters Susan Douthwright (Albert Martin), Shirley (Raymond) Albert, and Lise Savoie, brothers Charlie Berthelot, Peter Doucette, Raymond Michaud, Michel Michaud and Ronnie Bond. Also surviving are grandchildren Jessee, Justice, Josh, Savannah, Victoria, Jacob, Madison, Brandon, Norman, Ceilidh, Ryan, Micheal, Melissa and Carolyn.
Predeceasing her were her parents Alcide and Leona, and husband Clement Johnson.
The funeral was held from Maher's Funeral Home on August 9, 2005, officiated by Rev. Culligan, with interment in Our Lady of Snows Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Johnson, Peter Doucette, Raymond Albert, Jason Johnson, Albert Martin and Brad Bolton. Honourary pallbearers were Maurice Hachey and Jean-Paul Levesque. Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
R. Eldon Steeves
R. Eldon Steeves, 85, of Campbellton, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Clarence M. and the late Cora (nee Douthwright) Steeves.
Mr. Steeves worked at Dominion Stores and Clogg's Jewellery before moving to Dalhousie in July 1947 to start a business, he subsequently moved to Campbellton in 1954 where he established and operated Steeves' Jewellery & Gifts, he was a member of Canadian Jewellery Association since 1947, the Masonic Order F&AM (Campbellton), Order of Eastern Star (Campbellton) and the Campbellton United Church.
He is survived by his wife, Anne M. "Peggy" (nee MacCallum) of Campbellton; one son, Brock of Campbellton; one sister, Lena Prosser of Riverview as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Steeves was predeceased by two sisters: Aleen Wilson and Alverta Henry and also by one brother, Arnold Steeves.
Funeral service was celebrated at the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel, on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at 2 p.m. The service was conducted by the Rev. Dr. James MacDonald, assisted by Mr. Steeves' nephew, Rev. Phil Loche of Canning Baptist Church of Canning, Nova Scotia. The organist was Mr. Dennis Livingstone. Congregational hymns were: "Breathe on Me Breath of God" and "Unto the Hills", duet: "In the Bulb There is a Flower" and "Those Hearts that We Have Treasured", and choral benediction "Go Now In Peace", performed by Sherry and Wayne Lewis, family members.
Mary Laura Bernice Gallant
The death of Mary Laura Bernice Gallant of 145 Goulette Point Rd., Charlo, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on August 10, 2005, at the age of 59.
Born in Campbellton on November 12, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Jeoffrey Babin and Viola Deschênes.
Surviving is her husband Michael Gallant of Charlo, mother Viola Babin of Charlo, sons Christopher (Paula) of Oshawa, Ont., and Neil of Charlo, sisters Eileen (Rolf) Simon of Charlo, Simonne (Clement) Babin of Charlo and Sheila (Hector) Vienneau of Dalhousie, brothers Linus (Aline) Babin of Charlo, Gerald Babin of Charlo and Irving Babin of Brampton, Ont. Also surviving are three grandchildren Brianna, Kristen and Sabrina.
She was predeceased only by her father Jeoffrey.
The funeral service was held from St. John Bosco Church in Dalhousie on August 13, 2005, officiated by Father Culligan, with interment St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Charlo. Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.
Myrtle Isabella Millican
A full, happy and rewarding life ended in Huntsville, Ontario for Myrtle Isabella Millican on July 27, 2005 in her 97th year.
Myrtle was born on September 22, 1908 in Point La Nim, Restigouche County, NB to James Alexander McNeish and Mary Ann Harrison on the farm which was part of the original grant to her ancestors from the Isle of Arran, Scotland.
Her training as a registered nurse at the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Campbellton was the pattern setter for her whole life - a life of caring for and loving others.
She married Robert MacBeath Millican in Dalhousie on June 15, 1940.
Celebrating her life and sharing cherished memories are daughter Mary Elizabeth Shifferdecker and her husband Fred, Huntsville; brothers Gordon E. McNeish, Point La Nim, NB and Douglas A. McNeish, Brampton; grandchildren Rae Anne von Bitter (Grant Gordon), Florida; Robert von Bitter (Melanie), Toronto; Lisa D. Millican (Raymond Rioux), Miramichi, NB; Warren Millican and Jennifer Millican, New Maryland, NB; daughter-in-law Joyce Greeman Millican and daughters Alicia and Amy Wood of Bedford, NS.
Myrtle was predeceased by her husband Robert, their son James William Millican (July, 1991) and daughter-in-law Marilyn Ruth Taylor Millican. Also predeceased by sisters Dorothy Jean MacNeill and Alma Lillian Beckingham.
Her ashes were interred in the Millican family plot in the Campbellton Rural Cemetery on August 8, 2005.
Stella Johnston
The accidental death of Stella Johnston of Tide Head, occurred at her home on August 9, 2005, at the age of 77.
Born in Campbellton on August 13, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Hector Roy and the late Albertine Thibodeau Roy. Stella was a member of the C.W.L., Hospital Auxiliary, and a volunteer at the hospital boutique.
Surviving is her daughter Jane, son-in-law Graham, sisters Doris (Ulysse Barriault) of Campbellton and Jacqueline Mayo of Moncton, and brothers Ronald (Georgette) Roy of Fredericton and Maurice Roy of Niagara Falls. Also surviving are two grandchildren Maria and Michael Caldwell.
Predeceasing was her husband Lorne Johnston, sister Hectorine Law and brother Henry Roy.
The funeral was held from Notre Dame de Lourdes Church on August 12, 2005, officiated by Father Romeo Morrison, with interment in the McLeod's cemetery. Pallbearers were Gilles Cormier, Patrick Hello, Gilles Barriault, George Parker, Kevin Roy and David Caldwell. Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
