William (Billy) MacMillan

The death of William (Billy) MacMillan of Doyleville, occurred Monday, August 14, 2006 at Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 78. Born in Doyleville, the son of William MacMillan and Annie (Pettigrew).

He is survived by his sons Melvin of Doyleville, Carey (Tamara) of Doyleville, daughters Anne MacPherson (Gary) of Doyleville, Jeannine Dionne (Gene) of Belledune, Sandra MacMillan of Kitchener, Ont, Penny MacMillan (Conrad) of Doyleville, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and sister Hazel Hickey.

He was predeceased by his wife Opal, brothers Norman, Kenneth, Alex, sisters Ida Cook, and Opal Hickey.

His funeral was held from Bethel United Church, Nash Creek, Wednesday, August 16, 2006, officiated by Rev.Don Fairweather. Burial to take place in the New Mills United Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ricky Hickey, Dean Hickey, Allison Hickey, Darryl Hickey, Finley Cook, and Wayne Hickey. Honorary pallbearers were Irvin Hickey, Bob Pettigrew, John Carmichael, Roy Murchie, Irvin Firlotte and Leo Hickey.

Thurston, Ann Mae (nee Morrison)

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 13th, 2006. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth. Loving mother to Blaine and his wife Terri. Cherished gramma to Katie, Kyla and Kirk. Ann will be missed by her brothers John (Joyce), George (Arlene) and sister's Carrie and Emma (Bert). She will be fondly remembered by many other family members and friends. A celebration of Ann's life will be held on Saturday, August 19th, 2006 at 2 pm at the PINE HILLS VISITATION, CHAPEL AND RECEPTION CENTRE (625 Birchmount Road, 416-267-8229) with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Association.

Ethel Vincent Mann

The sudden passing of Ethel Vincent Mann, wife of the late Douglas Mann occurred Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the Dalhousie Nursing Home at the age of 91. Ethel was born in Charlo, the daughter of the late Harry Vincent and Nancy (Skene).

Ethel is survived by her daughter Jackie Harrington of Petawawa, Ont, George (Joanne) of Shilo, Manitoba, Douglas(Judy) of Comox, B.C., 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, brothers Lorne, Glenford and sisters Joyce Mazerolle, and Leona Dumais. Ethel was predeceased by her husband Douglas, Brothers John, Bobby, Teddy, Kenneth, Doug, James, Donald, and her sister Lillian.

Ethel was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. iLord Beaverbrook Chapter # 33 in Hampton, NB as well as an Honourary member of Pembroke Chapter # 288, Pembroke ON. Ethel was also a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

The funeral service for Mrs. Mann is to be held from Zion United Church, New Mills, Thursday, July 20th, 2 p.m, officiated by Rev. Don Fairweather. Burial to take place in Woodstock, N.B. with a graveside service, Friday, July 21st at the United Church Rural Cemetery. Jean-Claude D'Astous
1937 - 2006

At his residence, on Sunday, August 13th, 2006, passed away at the age of 69, Jean-Claude D'Astous, husband of Dolorès Bernard, residing in Charlo, and formerly of Dalhousie. Born on March 2, 1937, he is the son of the late Jean-Baptiste D'Astous and the late Laura Levesque.

Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn two daughters: Lise (Paul Vienneau), Manon (Éric Thibeault), two sons: Dr. Michel (Liette Mainville), Serge (Lise Robichaud); one brother: Dr. Julien (Lucille Forest), one sister: Marina as well as ten grandchildren: Pascale, Rachel, Philippe, Simon, Maxine, Dominique, Samuel, Mathieu, Claudia and Patrick.

The funeral mass was held from St. Jean Baptiste Church, Dalhousie, on August 16th at 4pm. Father Landry officiating.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.

Joyce E Hennessey

Joyce E (Mac Nutt) Hennessey passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital with her son Tim and daughter Lana present on Aug 13/06 at the age of 81.

She was the wife of the late Edison Hennessey and the late William Shannon. She was the daughter of the late Sarah & Percy Mac Nutt. A sister of the late John Mac Nutt and the late Jean (Snap) Dickie.

She is survived by her son, Tim Shannon, daughter Lana (Al) Firlotte. And her grandchildren Brad, Allie, Sarah, Meaghan, two great grandchildren. One sister Lambert (Alden) Coull. Also nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.

She was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Church and the C.W.L.

Funeral service was held at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Wednesday Aug 16/06 with Father Bill Arseneau and Father Peter Doherty officiating and present was the honor guard from C.W.L.

Internment was in the rural cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home Campbellton.

Viola Jane Firth

Family and friends were deeply saddened by the death of Viola Jane Firth of the Campbellton Nursing Home and formerly of Robinsonville which occurred on Monday, July 31, 2006, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. She was 72 years old.

Viola Jane Firth was born in Robinsonville on February 18, 1934_and was the daughter of the late Robert S. Firth and Gladys Travers.

She is survived by five sisters. Jean MacKenzie of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Lorraine Gleiter of Alphareha, Georgia, U.S.A., Greta Firth of Campbellton, Cynthia Plumstead of Fredericton and Carol Firth of Robinsonville. She also leaves six nieces. Karen, Nancy, Sandra, Stephanie, Susan, Linda and three nephews. Larry, John and David.

Throughout her life, Viola had various occupations which included Nursing Assistant, School Teacher and a Cook at a Fishing Lodge. Viola was a homebody, she was happy when she was cooking around the house. Viola could always be counted on to help people in need. She was a member of the Anglican Church. In her pasttime Viola enjoyed playing TV Bingo. Viola will be missed by her family and many friends.

Funeral services took place at Maher-s Funeral Chapel on August 3rd with Rev. Arnold Godsoe officiating. Hymns sung were the Old Rugged Cross, Abide With Me and Amazing Grace. A Choir was in attendence and the Organist was Colleen Kaine. A Reading and Eulogy was performed by niece Stephanie Firth.

Pallbearers were Richard MacDougall, John Anslow, Donald Harris, William Gauthier, David Boudreau and Brian Firth.

Honourary pallbearers were Sarah Mann, Elaine Sharpe, Edith Firth, Heather Mann, Vickie Delaney and Lois Harris.

Interment was made in the Murray-s Cemetery in Robinsonville.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home Campbellton.
