Barbara Elizabeth Taylor

Barbara passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Friday July 22nd, after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband Philip, her parents Vernon and Beth Smith, her sisters Eleanor Smith Huck, and Marilyn Olscamp, and her brother Jim Smith, as well as three nephews: Jamie Olscamp, Christopher Olscamp and David Olscamp.

Barbara graduated from Mount Allison University in Sackville with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. She was a very dedicated teacher, spending the first four years of her teaching career in God's Lake Narrows in northern Manitoba, where she taught students in grade two. She was a lover of nature, and while in the north she enjoyed very much her walks in the wilderness, and fishing in the lake. In 1987 she and Philip moved from God's Lake Narrows, and she joined the staff of Ste Anne School, near Winnipeg, as the new Kindergarten teacher. There she tended her kindergarten class as she tended her beautiful flower gardens - with great care, patience, and love. Barbara made a great difference in so many children's lives. Hers was a life well spent.

The family wishes to extend a heart-felt "thank you" to the wonderful staff of the Heath Sciences Centre in Winnipeg who were involved with Barbara's care. They are a wonderful group of professionals, who care for their patients with the utmost compassion and added personal touch. They will long be remembered.

A host of friends gathered for the celebration of Barbara's life in the "Thomson in the Park" Funeral Home in Winnipeg at 2 o'clock on July 30th. This service was conducted by the Rev. Rose Ferries of the Westminister United Church in Winnipeg. The interment took place in the Campbellton Rural Cemetery, on August 9th, under the direction of Robert Savoie of Maher's Funeral Home. The interment Service was conducted by the Rev. Genevieve Trudel, minister of First United Church in Campbellton.

The family wishes to thank the Rev. Genevieve Trudel and all other friends for their sympathy, concern, and kindness shown in so many different ways.
