Cleo Theresa Arseneau
In loving memory of Cleo Theresa Arseneau, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2007 in the Campbellton Regional Hospital, at the young age of 69.
"Coco" to her close friends and family, had been suffering for many years, which she bore with grace and dignity. Her biggest dream was to become a Sister of the Assumption and to work with the poor and ease their suffering. Her dream was never to be realized as a Sister, as she was called home from her short time at the convent to take care of her ailing parents. She did however spend much of her young life volunteering with the Sisters, and helping out with the poor. She inspired those who knew the extent of her pain to marvel at her faith and fortitude.
Cleo never married, but she reveled in her dear four legged friends, Babe and Missy. They were the joys of her life, and kept her company during many of the years when she was house-bound.
She loved to travel, and had planned to "retire early" and see the world. As it turned out, she lived her travel plans only through her friends and nieces' travel stories and pictures. She loved to visit tiny boutiques, and she was also very fond of ice cream; her friends would take her on trips to the ice cream shop on her good days. She had a sweet tooth - jokingly we would tease her that she had a mouth full of sweet teeth.
Cleo prided herself for having worked for Irving Oil Company as a clerk, in the younger years of her life. She loved her work and the many friends she met there.
Father Roméo Morrison conducted the Funeral which was held at Marie-Rene Church in Richardsville on Monday, July 9th, accompanied by the lovely solo voice of Leopold Richard. In attendance were her very close friends who kept her company in her last moments, including Mrs. Gloria Boissoneault, Mrs. Jean MacDonald, and Mrs. Irene Arseneault, who read a beautifully written letter from her sister Jeannine about her 61 year friendship with Cleo. Also attending were the Sisters of Les Filles Marie de l'Assomption whom she loved dearly, and her family from Ontario, including sister-in law Barbara Arseneault, wife of brother Raymond from Niagara Falls, Elaine Leonard, her niece, daughter of brother Joseph, with her husband John from Mississauga, Elaine's daughter Crystal Warren from Toronto, and also great-nephew and grandson of Cleo's brother Joseph, Kenneth J. Arseneault of Guelph; David Arseneau, son of brother James Arseneau from Glen Levitt, attended, representing family from New Brunswick. Many of her friends and family, who were not able to attend, sent their heart-felt sentiments from Calgary and all over Ontario and Eastern Canada.
Her remains have been placed with her father, Charles Arseneau, in the McLeod Cemetery, in McLeod's Siding.
Cleo's love, strength and courage will be remembered in our hearts forever.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
