Eugene LaPointe 1932-2002

Mr. Eugene LaPointe, 69, of New Mills, passed away on April 15, 2002 at his residence following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born on Nov. 12, 1931 in New Mills, he was the son of the late Eloise (Boulay) and Joseph LaPointe of New Mills

Eugene will be sadly missed by his wife, Beatrice LaPointe; three daughters, Pamela Thompson (Carl) of Maine, Wendy Shea (Allan) of Seaside, and Tammy Paradis Allain of Noonan, NB; three sons, Steven (Pauline) of Moncton, Mario (Dony) of Belledune, and Nicholas (Louise) of Dieppe; six brothers, Theodore, Gabriel, Delore, Lloyd, Leo and Philip; four sisters, Patsy, Joan Eileen and Delores; and 10 grand-children, Megan, Jeffrey, Kerrie, Danielle, Sarah, Jordan, Jared, Emily, Zachary and Mathieu.

He was predeceased by his parents and son, Danny.

Eugene was a lobster fisherman and masonry contractor but was also very active in the community as past president of the Fisheries Association, Community development projects such as the bricking of the Lady of the Visitation Church in Benjamin River.

Joseph George "Doddy" Ouellette

The death of Joseph George "Doddy" Ouellette of Dalhousie occurred in Dalhousie on April 8, 2002 at the age of 61.

He is survived by his wife, Georgette of Eel River Crossing; seven sisters, Doris Albert of Baker brook, NB, Mona Ouellette of London, ON, Suzanne-Claudette Ouellette of Dalhousie, Lynda Cormier of Balmoral and Diane Dugas of Dalhousie; grandson Ryan Ouellette and grand-daughter Kaylee Rose Dugas.

Funeral services were held from Holy Trinity Church, Eel River Crossing on April 13 with Father William Arseneau officiating. Cremation has taken place. interment in Eel River Crossing.

His Grandson, Ryan Ouellette, carried the ashes.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

William Donahue

William Donahue of Dundee, husband of Stella (Gallant), passed away peacefully at his residence on April 11, 2002, at the age of 64.

Born in Dalhousie, he was the son of Gilmore Donahue and Lillian Imhoff.

He is survived by his wife, Stella; two daughters, Lisa Babin (Kevin) of Saint John and Emily Hanlon (Sean) of St. Stephen; two sons, Shawn of Dundee and Lindy of Oromocto; a granddaughter, Sara Babin and two grandsons, Brandon Babin and Eric Donahue, son of Lindy.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillian's Funeral Home, Black Point.

Miriam Emma Wyers

Former Citizen Of The Year Dies

The death of Miriam Emma Wyers of the Campbellton Nursing Home, Campbellton's 1990 Citizen of the Year, occurred at her residence on April 8, 2002, at the age of 95.

She was born in Campbellton on August 26, 1907, the seventh of 10 children, to John White and Emma Thompson and had worked as a teacher and lab technician for 20 years. She had been a member of the Eastern Star IODE, the curling club, the golf club, and the Bridge club and had organised many curling bonspiels.

She is survived by her daughter, Margot Wyers Geberle of Dorval, Quebec; her sister, Gwendolyn McDonald of Toronto and by grandson Gary Gerberle who lives in Europe.

She was predeceased by son Wayne in 1987 and husband Guy in 1949.

Funeral services were held from Maher's Funeral Chapel, Campbellton, on April 10 with Rev. Dr. Jim MacDonald and Rev. Eugene Lanctin officiating. Interment in the Campbellton Rural Cemetery at a later date.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Dr. Benoit Renault

Dr. Benoit Renault, husband of Jocelyne Renault of Shediac, NB, passed away at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on April 10, 2002. Born in Campbellton, he was the son of the late Dominique and the late Isabelle (nee DeGrace) Renault.

Dr. Renault had retired from his medical practice in Shediac.

He is survived by two daughters, Nicole (Jean-Claude) Lavoie of Lachine, PQ, and Louise Renault of Halifax; three sons Jacques of Moncton, Pierre of Montreal and Paul of Haut Aboujagane, NB; four sisters, Fernande Renault of Shediac, Betty (Gerry) Lanteigne of Miramichi, Evangeline (Meddy) Cormier and Yvette (Neil) Coyle, both of Moncton; four brothers, Leonard (Gaby) Gamlin of Grand Falls, Dr. Guy Renault of Shediac and Roger (Camilla) Renault of Moncton; two granddaughters, Lynne and Isabelle, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Michele Renault; a sister, Jeannine Renault and brothers Maurice, Rodolphe and Joseph.

At his request, there was no funeral service.

Eunice McGregor

The death of Eunice McGregor of Armstrong occurred Saturday, April 13 at the age of 80.

Born in Archibald, she was the daughter of Fabian Elsleiger and Sydney (Bernard).

She is survived by two daughters, Bernadette McGregor of Fredericton and Iva Hickey (Michael) of Nash Creek; five sons, Raymond (Emelia) of Jacquet River, Morris (Irene) of Newfoundland, Charles (Lynn) of Alberta, Archie (Maryann) of British Columbia and Clement (Florence) of St. Stephen; 19 grand-children; of St Stephen; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Cyril (Eileen) of Archibald; three sisters, Marion Godin (Sanford) of Ontario, Emily Guitard (Lindsay) of Jacquet River and Loretta Firlotte of Belledune.

She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, John, and companion of 10 years, Donat Carrier; three brothers, Odell, Norman and Leo and two sisters, Charlotte and Gertrude.

Her funeral services were held at St. Gabriel's Church, Jacquet River, on Wednesday, April 17 with burial in the parish cemetery. Officiated by Father Benoit.

She was a devoted wife and mother; we will miss her.

Funeral arrangements were in care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point.

Priscilla Clevette

The death of Priscilla Clevette of the Campbellton Nursing Home occurred at her residence on April 10, 2002 at the age of 86.

She was born March 1, 1916 to Alexander Roy and Lucie Borris and was a housewife. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Val D'amour Golden Age Club.

She is survived by her daughters, Muriel (Ben) Allard of Cardinal, Ontario, Marjorie (late Delphis) Perron of Malauze, Myrtle (Camille) Lavoie of Campbellton and Myrna (Charles) Nicol of Eel River Crossing; her son, Alvin (Emily) Clevette of Malauze; her sister, Mary Berube of Campbellton; 22 Grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband James (July 1983) and son Aylmer (November 1997).

Funeral services were held April 12 from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Val D'Amour with Father Godin officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were Roger Lavoie, Michael Allard, Kevin Nical, Randall Kane, Garry Perron and Glenn Perron.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Salon R.J. Savoie, Val D'Amour.

M. Guy Raymond Poirier

The death of M. Guy Raymond Poirier of 72 Welsh Road, Eel River Crossing, occurred in Bathurst on April 9, 2002, at the age of 55.

He was born in Dalhousie on April 4, 1947, to Edgar Poirier and Lucie LeBlanc and was a heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by his wife, Lynda McIntyre-Poirier of Eel River Crossing; is father, Edgar Poirier of Dalhousie; his daughter, Sabrina Poirier of Eel River Crossing; his sisters, Patricia Poirier (Valmont) of Campbellton and Annette Poirier of Shediac; his brothers, Mathieu Poirier of Balmoral, David Poirier of Dalhousie, Rheal Poirier of Eel River Crossing and Gerald Poirier of Dalhousie; his granddaughter, Kendra-Lee Poirier and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangement were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
