Donna Elizabeth Trites

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." Donna Elizabeth Trites nee Mabie, 83, quietly passed away with her husband at her side, on Saturday afternoon, September 9, 2006, at St Catharine's General Hospital in Ontario. Donna was born April 5, 1924 in Campbellton, NB and was united in marriage to Wallace Trites for over 52 years. She is survived by her husband, Wally, and her 2 children, Jill Trites of Alberta and Wendy Trites- Coelho (Luis) and her four children of Manitoba. In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Kenneth and a sister, Ruth. Donna also leaves to morn her many nieces and nephews, a brother, sister-in-laws, cousins, family and friends.

Donna loved to travel in North America and in recent years also went to Alaska 1997, Panama Canal cruise 2001, Tahiti/Hawaii 2002, and the Caribbean 2005. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date.

Fernande (Fern) O'Brien

The death of Fernande (Fern) O'Brien, widow of the late Gordon O'Brien, occurred on September 10th, 2006 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

Born in Campbellton on December 5th, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Léonidas and Azilda (Rousselle) St-Laurent. She is survived by a son Ernie of Ottawa, On, a daughter Maureen (Stephen) Methot of Dalhousie, two grandchildren, Andrea Methot of Toronto, ON and Jason Methot of Halifax, NS and a sister Jeanne St. Laurent of Dalhousie.

Cremation to take place under the care of Maher's Funeral Home, with a Memorial Service to be announced at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the NB Lung Association or NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

James David Brander
1938 - 2006

Correction

James Brander, 68, of Point La Nim, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2006, following a courageous battle with cancer. Son of the late Robert Brander and Priscilla Mullin of Miramichi, New Brunswick. Beloved husband of Lorraine Thibodeau. Father of Peter (Theresa Kot) and Karla (Serge Laviolette), both of Ottawa. Loving grandfather to Anastasia and Mackenzie Brander and Nicholas, Samuel and Kaitlyn Laviolette. He will be fondly remembered by his brother and sister, John (Leona) Brander of Miramichi, and Roberta (Henry) Fournier of Wabamun, Alberta. Predeceased by his sister Marilyn (Currie) Charlong of Campbellton.

James was employed by NBTel (Aliant) for 41 years prior to retiring in 1999. James was also active in Scouts Canada having served as District Commissioner. He also worked with a number of volunteer organizations including the Canadian Cancer Society and served on the St. Joseph Hospital Board of Directors in the 1980s.

A funeral mass was celebrated at St. John Bosco Church, Dalhousie, on August 30th. In remembrance, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Stella Donna Cumming

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on September 15, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Stella Donna Cumming (née Butt), Wife of George C. Cumming 86 Restigouche Drive, Tide Head. She was born on April 20th 1910, daughter of the late William and Eliza Butt. She was for many years a member of Christ Church Choir and WA, also of the IODE, Caladonian Society of Restigouche and NB Scottish Cultural Association. She is survived by her husband, George of Tide Head; son, George Ian and daughter-in-law, Terri of Montague, PEI; grandchildren, Misty G. MacKenzie of St. Catherines, PEI, Amber D. Brooks of Orangeville, ON, and Holly G. Cumming of Montague, PEI; also one sister, Marjorie Hall of Fredricton, NB, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughters, Carol and Rosalind; brothers, William Butt of St. John=s NL; and Tasker Butt of Jacksonville, FL, sisters, May Williams and Hettie Sullivan of St. John's, NL.

Her Funeral was held on Monday, September 18th , 2006 from Christ Church, Campbellton, NB, conducted by the Reverend Arnold Godsoe. Internment took place at the Campbellton Rural Cemetery. Bagpipe selections were played by piper Archie Babcock. Pallbearers were granddaughters, Misty MacKenzie of PEI, Amber Brooks of ON, Holly Cumming of PEI, nephews George Murphy of St. John's NL and Gerald Hall of Burton, NB., and Garth Mackenzie of PEI. Arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Roméo Charest

At his residence in Campbellton, on September 8, 2006, at the age of 67, passed away Mr. Roméo Charest, son of the late Arthur Charest and Armande Fournier.

He will be sadly missed by his children: Renault (Cindy Parker) of Richardville, Sylvie Dubé (Denis Léger) of Gatineau, Qc, Lucien (Pierrette Roy) of Dundee, Margot (Gilles Daigle) of Eel River Crossing and Allain of Campbelton; his sisters: Claudette Thériault (Yvon) of Lévis, Qc and Aurore Bois of Campbellton. Also, his 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and friends will sadly miss him.

His parents predeceased him: Arthur and Armande Charest.

The funeral was held on September 13, 2006 at the Our Lady of Snows Church, Campbellton, and celebrated by Father Lanteigne and Father Morrison with burial in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Aurèle Lurette, Wilfred Veilleux, Gilles Béchard, Marc Charest, John Letourneau et Yvon Thériault.
