Emily Travers

Mrs. Emily Travers of York Manor, Fredericton, passed away on September 14, 2005, at the age of 103 years.

Born in Mann's Mountain, N.B., on November 19, 1901, she was the daughter of the late James Craswell and the late Sarah Wafer.

Surviving is daughter Doris (Willis) Johnson of Fredericton; 6 grandchildren: Debbie (Mike) Allen, Bob (Connie) Johnson, Nancy (Philip) O'Toole, Rod Travers, Tom (Kim) Travers, and Peter (Janet) Travers; 10 great-grandchildren: Mark, Scott Allen, Jessica, Nathan Johnson, Corey, Cody, Christopher O'Toole, Stewart, Holly, Anna Travers; one daughter-in-law Mary Travers, one sister-in-law Beulah Craswell.

Predeceasing was her husband Ivan Travers, son Eldred and grandson Michael. The funeral was held from Maher's Funeral Chapel in Campbellton on September 19, 2005, officiated by Rev. Douglas Blaikie, with interment in the Flatlands Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lyman Craswell, Gerald Craswell, Lorne Irvine, Barry Irvine, Royce Craswell, and Denzil Craswell. Honourary pallbearers were Joyce Morrison, Freida Harvey, Glenda Sherrard, and Betty Cook Adams.

Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Gordon Dempsey

The death of Gordon Dempsey of Mitchell Settlement occurred Saturday, September 17, 2005, at his residence at the age of 85.

Born in Mitchell Settlement, he was the son of Albert Dempsey and Catherine Goodine.

He is survived by his daughters Emeline LaPointe (Gene) of Ripples, N.B., Dorilda Burrell of Jacquet River, Francie Burrell of Toronto, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Violet Daigle, Ethel Legacy and special friend Sonia Nini.

He was predeceased by brothers Houlten, Caswell, Hilary, Albert, and sisters Hazel, Audrey, Bernice, Laura, and Margaret.

His funeral was held from Saint Gabriel Church, Jacquet River, on Wednesday, September 21, 2005, officiated by Father Ferguson with burial in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Kim LaPointe, Gene LaPointe Jr., William LaPointe, Gene Lapointe, Donnie Moriarty, and Raymond Goodine.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home Black Point.

Hazel Ruth Brown

The death of Hazel Ruth Brown of 14 Renault Street, Campbellton, occurred at the Village Nursing Home in Campbellton on September 19, 2005, at the age of 84.

Born in Campbellton on July 6, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Maisey and the late Susanah Antle.

Hazel was a perennial volunteer and dedicated her life to serving the citizens of Campbellton. Hazel's passion was working with the youth. She served as a leader for Explorers, CGIT and taught Sunday School at the First United Church for over 65 years. She was also a life member of UCW and served on many boards at the First United. In later years, Hazel gave her time to the Campbellton Regional Hospital as a Pastoral Care Volunteer, visiting patients. She also visited the residents of the Village Nursing Home. Hazel loved to spend time with her great grandchildren; Brandon, Alyssa, Megan, Kendra, Alexandria and Jared.

Surviving is her guardian Stuart Arnold (Jean) Maisey of Campbellton, sister Joyce Maisey, brothers Lionel "Joe" (Anita) Maisey of Campbellton and Gordan Maisey of Toronto, Ontario. Also surviving are grandson John (Paula) Maisey and granddaughters Catherine (Philip) Guitard and Tammy (Marc) Lord. Predeceasing were her parents Hubert and Susanah, her husband John Herbert Brown, sisters Dorothy, Muriel, Ruby, Mildred and by her brothers Harold Charles, Gerald Erle, Douglas, Beverly "Buster" and Arnold.

The funeral was held from First United Church in Campbellton on Friday, September 23, 2005, officiated by Rev. Genevieve Trudel, with interment in the Campbellton Rural Cemetery. Pallbearers were Philip Guitard, Marc Lord, Wayne Mundle, Mike Mundle, Allan Woods and Paul Brown.

Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Philip (Munn) Roy Garry Wysote

October 15, 1953 - September 5, 2005

It is with deep sorrow we announce the untimely passing of a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, in-law and friend. Philip lost his courageous battle with cancer at the age of 51, during the early morning of September 5th, 2005 at the Baie de Chaleur Hospital in Maria, Quebec.

Born on October 15th, 1953, Philip was the son of Mrs. Dora (Martin) Wysote. He was predeceased by his father, the late Barthelemy (Pat) Wysote. Philip is survived by his wife, Donna Metallic, their children; Kendra, Royce, Jeremy, Rhonda, and Margie. Their nine grandchildren: Alexis, A'tu'en, Chase, Lake, Storm, Sky, Dallas, Evan and Irelynd. Philip is also survived by his five brothers: Randy (Donna Jean), Herman, Roderick (Karen), Murray (Dolly), Pernell (Claudia): four sisters: Debra (Gary), Joyce, Pauline and Charlene. Philip is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Philip began his career as an Ironworker over 30 years ago, he was a member of Local 711. He was also employed as a Plumber with the Listuguj Mi'gmaq Government and worked along side his brother, Randy over the past year, before he was diagnosed with cancer.

Funeral mass was celebrated at the St. Anne's Church in Listuguj, Quebec on Thursday afternoon, September 8th, 2005 with Father Evariste Landry presiding. Organist was Mr. Wayne (G.I.) Vicaire. Pallbearers were his five (5) brothers: Randy, Herman, Roderick (Jerry), Murray (Moe), and Pernell and his sons; Royce and Jeremy.

The entrance hymn was led by the Mi'gmaq Drum Group of Listuguj, Quebec and a solo "One Day at a Time" was sung by Mrs. Norma Jean Martin.

A scripture reading "A letter from Paul to the Romans" was read by Mr. Roderick (Jerry) Wysote (brother of the deceased). Prayers of the Faithful were read by Mrs. Eva Mitchell.

Eulogies were read by: Mr. Beaver Paul, Mr. Christopher Wysote and Katrina Metallic.

St. Anne's Church Choir sung the following hymns: "Nisgam", "O Mother St. Anne", "My Friends", "Mi'gmaq Communion Song", and "Into Your Hands" for the Blessing The Recessional was a tape of the "History Song" sung by the late Chief Jack Wysote, who was also the Godfather to Philip.

Interment was at the St. Anne's Church Cemetery after the Mass. Prayers at the gravesite were offered by Father Evariste Landry, and the Traditional Mi'gmaq prayers were offered by Glenda Wysote and Michael Martin.

Arrangements were under the direction of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Regina (Cabot) Tellier

The death of Regina (Cabot) Tellier occurred in St. Bruno, Quebec, after a long illness. She was 80 years old.

Born in Dalhousie, she was the daughter of the late William and Adeline (Mercier) Cabot of Dalhousie. She leaves to mourn her husband Louis, one daughter, Louise of Calgary, Alberta, sons Marc of Victoria, B.C. and Eric of Tampa, Florida and four grandsons.

Also surviving her are two brothers, Albert and Armand Cabot, both of Montreal and sisters, Rose Marie Donahoe of Montreal, Mary Stella Landry of Dalhousie and Jean Murray of Campbellton.

Her private funeral mass was celebrated at the chapel of the nursing home in St. Bruno with burial also in St. Bruno, Quebec.
