Asa Roy
Suddenly at the Civic Hospital, Ottawa, Ontario on Thursday, September 27, 2007. Asa Roy of Ottawa, formerly of Pointe-à-la-Croix, Quebec at the age of 88. Son of the late Alphonse Roy and the late Helene Salesses. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Chamberlain. Loving father of Jean, Marina, Delano, Denny (Carol), Stephen (Paulina), Wendell, Marie, Kevin, and Wayne (Marnie). Predeceased by his sons Gerry, Alvin, Ernie, Alan and daughter Elaine; and siblings, Alphonse (Elizabeth), Regina (Eugene Casey), Adelard (Anne-Marie) and Emerentienne (Emile Charbonneau). Lovingly remembered by his grand-children, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends paid their respects at Maher's Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne, Campbellton, NB on Tuesday, October 2, 2007. A Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Saint-Anne's Church, Restigouche, Quebec at 3:00pm followed by interment at St. Anne's Parish cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, the family requests that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
Clayton Gedeon
Passed away at the CHSLD Matapedia on September 15, 2007 at the age of 83, Mr. Clayton Gedeon. Born in Maria, QC on November 24, 1923, he was the son of the late Milton Gedeon and the late Josephine Jessome. He worked as a game warden in Beauce, QC for 25 years, janitor for Save Easy in Campbellton & Atholville for 10 years, Church & Cemetery ground's keeper for 15 years and a member of the Club 50+ in Pointe-à-la-Croix, QC.
He leaves to mourn his wife Françoise Gedeon of Pointe-à-la-Croix, QC, his daughters Peggy, Tracy, Laurie of Moncton and Prescilla of Listuguj, QC, his sons Jeffrey of Maria, QC, Denis of Pabineau, NB, John of Gesgapegiac, QC and David of Grandy, QC. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, one grandchild to be in February 2008 and several great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his son LeRoy, infant Theresa, sister Theresa, several aunts and uncles.
The funeral mass was held from St. Hélène Church Pointe-à-la-Croix on Tuesday September 18th at 3pm. Father Devilda LeBlanc officiating.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
Gabriel Carrier
Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on October 4, 2007 at the age of 71, Mr. Gabriel Carrier. Born in Lorne, NB on September 19, 1936, he was the son of the late Daniel Carrier and the late Marie Jeanne Francoeur. He worked at the NBIP Mill in Dalhousie for 25 years.
He leaves to mourn his wife Mabel (McNeil) Carrier, his daughters Debbie Carrier (Richard) of Dalhousie, Donna Carrier (Arsene) of Balmoral and Gisele Carrier Squires (Brian) of Fredericton, his sons Roland Carrier of Charlo, Gilles Carrier (Raymonde) of Fredericton and Marc Carrier (Sandra) of Bathurst, his sisters Gloria Lagacé (Nazaire) of Pointe Verte, Yvonne Stevens of Dalhousie, Alice Carrier of Campbellton, Léona Chiasson and Marcia McDonald (Harry) of Dalhousie, his brothers Richard Carrier of Canmore, Alberta, Daniel Carrier (Anita) of Murdochville, QC and Benoit Carrier of Murdochville, QC. Also survived by his grandchildren Chantale Carrier, Céline & Annik Levesque, Line Ouellette, Vanessa, Sabrina, Emilie, Mélissa Carrier and Samantha Squires, great-granddaughter Emma Fontaine, several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Daniel Carrier and Marie Jeanne Francoeur, his brothers Emmanuel Carrier and Martin Carrier.
The funeral mass was held from St. Francis Xavier Church Charlo on Monday October 8th at 3pm. Father Réjean Landry officiating. Pallbearers were his two sons Gilles & Marc Carrier, son-in-law Brian Squires, Richard Lamarre, Arsene Ouellette and godson Real Carrier.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.
Joseph Ephrem Bernard
Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on September 30, 2007 at the age of 91, Mr. Joseph Ephrem Bernard. Born in Balmoral on April 25, 1916, he was the son of the late Joseph N. Bernard and the late Clémentine Bernard. He was a plumber by trade and was a member & President of the Charlo Golden Age Club.
He leaves to mourn his wife Hectorine (LePage) Bernard of Charlo, his daughter Corinne (Gerard) Robichaud of Charlo, his sons Jean-Pierre (Francine) Bernard of Charlo and Gilles (Rose Marie) Bernard of Charlo, his sisters Yolande Paradis, SR Jacqueline of Québec and Georgette of Balmoral, his brothers Maurice from Florida and Jean-Marie, Ontario, as well as 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
The funeral mass was held from St. Francis Xavier Church Charlo on Friday October 5th at 3pm. Father Réjean Landry officiating. Interment at the Parish Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Balmoral.
Mary Hazel (Myles) Jagoe
The funeral service for the late Mary Hazel (Myles) Jagoe was held at Maher's Funeral Chapel on Monday, September 24, 2007. Mary passed away on September 21, 2007, at the age of 80 years, following a lengthy illness. The service was officiated by Rev. Raymond Kraglund, with reflections by Margot Ferguson and the musical accompaniment of Ann Chedore and the First United Church choir.
Pallbearers were Pierre Berthelot, Cliff Bowers, Brian Bujold , Steven Gilbert, Lynn Mann, and Mark Otis. Interment at the Campbellton Rural Cemetery followed the funeral service. Archie Babcock provided a touching accompaniment on the bagpipes at the graveside service.
Mary was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and the members of Lady Alexander Chapter #24 paid their respects in a separate service on September 23.
Mary was born on September 6, 1927 at the Soldier's Memorial Hospital in Campbellton, to Leslie and Hazel (MacDougall) Myles. She was raised in Montreal and returned to Campbellton to marry Arnold Jagoe, who predeceased her in 1995. In addition to the considerable demands of raising a family, Mary worked for the Campbellton District School board for twenty years.
Through her life, Mary endured many tests of her formidable strength and determination. She was predeceased by three sons: Terry, Bruce and Stephen.
Despite the trials she faced, Mary was well-known for her delightful sense of humour, her good taste, and her intelligence. Mary loved to spend time relaxing at her cottage in Tide Head during the summer and enjoyed a good shopping trip. Her relatives and friends will fondly remember her twinkling eyes and wry chuckle.
Mary leaves behind her son Kevin, of Atholville, her daughter Jane, son-in-law Cliff Bowers, and granddaughter Madeline, of Campbellville, ON.
