Marcella Poirier

Bathurst - Mrs. Marcella Poirier, 74, wife of the late Arthur Poirier, of Bathurst and formerly of Dalhousie, died Sunday, 2 June, 2002, at the Bathurst Regional Hospital Center after a lengthy illness.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Blanche Eva (Martel) Lavigne.

She was pre-deceased be her husband, Arthur, in 1994.

She is survived by: 6 Sons: Charles Poirier (Lucy) of Hampton, NB, Gerald Poirier of White Count, AB, Romeo Poirier (Brenda) of Saint John, NB, Germain Poirier (Margaret) of Stoney Creek, ON, Lionel Poirier (Linda) of Bathurst, Danny Poirier (Alvina) of Stoney Creek, ON; 2 Daughters: Jeannine Morton (Dave) of Saint John, NB, Angeline Schmidt (Ron) of Acton, ON; 5 Brothers: Herman Lavigne (Annie) of Pokeshaw, NB, Albert Lavigne (Lorette) of Fredericton, NB, Leonard Lavigne (Eileen) and Claude Lavingne, both of Bathurst, Donald Lavigne (Solange) of Petit-Rocher, NB; 5 Sisters: Gabrielle Losier (Azade) of Rouyn, Que., Bibianne Lagacy (Normand) and Jeannine Vienneau (Lorenzo) both of Bathurst, Annette Lavigne of Woodstock, ON, Yvette Hodgins (Joe) of Fredericton, NB; 17 Grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Blanche, 2 grandchildren; Martin & Jason, her twin sister, Marie Blanch, and a brother, Paul.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday at Elhatton's Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning (6 June, 2002) at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Rough Waters Dr., Bathurst. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Lung Association or a favorite charity.

Earl Raymond Charlong

The death of Earl Raymond Charlong of Campbellton occurred June 1, 2002, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 83.

Born in Campbellton on September 10, 1918, he was the son of Vincent Charlong and Susan Chedore and had been employed for 33 years as an engineer with the NBIP Woodlands Division.

He was an active member of the Naval Main Brace, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #19 and the Holy Names Society and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He served in the Merchant Marine and Royal Canadian Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Hilda Charlong (Larsen); his daughters Donna LePage (Dorique) of Campbellton, Lana Daides (Ben) of Campbellton and Susan Poitras of Florida; his son, Ronald Charlong (Marjorie) Campbellton ; his sister, Mary Charlong of Campbellton; his brothers, Roland, Currie and Lloyd, all of Campbellton; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Haswell and Ralph and sisters Thelma and Margaret.

Funeral services were held from St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Campbellton, on June 4 with Father Wade officiating. Interment in the St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Coughlan, George Woods, Roland Charlong, Robert Parlee, Paul Charlong, Robert Parlee, Paul Bouchard, Boswell Jennings, Gerard St-Laurent and Raymond O'Connel, who are all navy veterans, and Lloyd Charlong, Bill Lynch, Joseph Allard, Currie Charlong, Alphred Larsen and Barry Andrew..

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Solange (Power) LeBlanc

Solange LeBlanc, 70, of Moncton, passed away at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton on Sunday, June 2, 2002, after a lengthy illness.

Born in St-Alexis-de-Matapédia, P.Q., on January 3, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Adolphe Power and Albertine Martin of Atholville.

Mrs. LeBlanc was a retired school teacher following 30 years of teaching at the Atholville school.

She is survived by her husband, Paul-Emile LeBlanc; her mother, Albertine Martin; her son, Claude (Hélène Cormier), her two daughters, Thérèse Bujold and Monique (Marcel Boult), all three of Ottawa; six sisters, Adéle-Ange (Robert Chaisson) of Dalhousie, Marie-Anfe (Robert Poirier) and Desanges (John Jardine), both of Moncton, Rose-Ange (Rodrique Heppell) of Causapscal, Berthe-Ange (Frank Morrisey) of Caqmpbellton and Edith (Bernard Ruest) of Ottawa and by several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Bujold, and her second, Leonda LeBlanc.

Funeral services were held on June 5 with interment in the Atholville Parish Cemeery.

At the request of the family, memorial donations to the Kidney foundation of the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital would be appreciated.

Ann Marie De Ste Croix

The death of Ann Marie De Sre Croix of Dalhousie occurred at St. Joseph Hospital, Dalhousie, on June 5, 2002, at the age of 79.

Born in Sayabec, P.Q., on November 12, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John De La Garde and the late Ida May Nelson and was a grocery store clerk.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann Kearney (Tim) of Dalhousie; her sisters, Ida Phillips of Dalhousie and June Hickey of Miramichi; her brothers, Raymond De La Garde of Iroquois, Ont., and Ronald De La Garde of Ontario, and three grandchildren, Colleen, Timothy and Sean Kearney.

The funeral was held from Sait John Bosco Church, Dalhousie, on June 7.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.

Clair Johson

The death of Clair Johnson of 51 Duncan Street, Campbellton, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on June 5, 2002, at the age of 68.

Born in Bridgetown, N.S., on March 2, 1934, he was the son of the late Alex Johnson and the late Florence Sabian. He was the owner of Johnson's Grocery Store and had worked for Dominion Stores for 21 years. He was a member of the Board of Management at the Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his sister, Marion Kelly.

Funeral services were hild from Maher's Funeral Chapel, Campbellton, on June 7 with Rev. Tom Saulters and Rev. Raymond Kraglund officiating. Interment in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Marion Patricia Allen

The death of Marion Patricia Allen of Victoria Street, Dalhousie, occurred June 4, 2002, at the Dalhousie Nursing Home at the age of 90.

Born in Dalhousie on March 15, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Lenwood Clifford and the late Marion Mathews and was a retired music teacher.

She is survived by her daughters, J. Coleen MacGarvie of Point La Nim and Barbara Jo Lahey of Florenceville; her son, William Lewis Allen of Mountain Brook; her brother, Ray Clifford of Dalhousie; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lewis J.Allen.

Funeral services were held from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Dalhousie on June 6, officiated by Rev. A. Fraser. Interment in the Riverview cemetary, Dalhousie.

Active pallbearers were Robin MacGarvie, Duncan MacGarvie, Paul Lahey, Donald Carr, Lenwood Clifford and James Clifford. Honourary pallbearers were Sandy MacLean, Jr. Williams, Lynda Carr, Doris Target, Ann Phillips, Penny Palmater, Pamela Guitard, Jeannine Albert and Paula St. Onge.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Irene Mercier

The death of Irene Mercier of Scoudouc, N.B., occurred in Campbellton on May 26, 2002 at the age of 54.

Born in Atholville on April 30, 1948, she was the daughter of Donat Matte and Léontine Desrosiers-Matte and had worked as a grocery clerk.

She is survived by her parents, Donat and Léontine Desrosiers-Matte of Atholville; her daughters, Denise Marin of St. Arthur, Linda Matte of Moncton, Lise Parker of Campbellton and Suzanne Matte of Atholville; her brothers, Emile of Moncton, Donald and Gilles of Atholville; Réal of Campbellton and Denis of Eel River; her nephews, Yves, Kevin and Rene Matte, Shane Parker, Jean-Claude Arseneault, and Pierre and Marc Marin; her nieces, Nadine, Line, Melanie and Melissa Matte and her granddaughter, Savannah Ross-Despot.

She was predeceased by her husband, Andre and her brother, Claude.

Funeral services were held on May 30 from Our Lady of Snows Church, Campbellton, with Father Morrison officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were Emile Matte, Donald Matte, Réal Matte, Roger Arseneault, Roger Ouellette and Marc LeBlanc.

Fureral arrangements were in the care of Maher`s Funeral Home, Campbellton.
