George Albert Gallop

The passing of George Albert Gallop of Fredericton, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Friday, November 4, 2005, at the age of 82.

Born in Dalhousie, N.B., he was the son of the late Albert and Winnifred (Mitchell) Gallop. George was a Paper Inspector for the NB International Paper Company; a salesman for Standard Life and owned New Brunswick T.V. Servicing until his retirement. A member of the R.C.L. Branch #17, Dalhousie, N.B., he served overseas during WWII serving with 6th group 403 Squadron as a Spitfire Engine Mechanic having the rank of Corporal. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved to spend time on the Miramichi. He was a very good and devoted neighbor helping others whenever he could. He was a member of Christ Church Parish Church.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife Lois (Goss) Gallop; daughter Nancy Welock; son Charles Gallop; granddaughter Katherine Welock, all of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents; a brother Gideon; sisters Elizabeth and Dorothy and a son-in-law Brian. The family received friends at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road on Monday, November 7, 2005, and again on Tuesday, November 8, 2005. The funeral service will be held today, Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. from Christ Church Parish Church, with Venerable John Sharpe officiating. Interment in the Forest Hill Cemetery. The family would appreciate memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Margaret Firlotte

The death of Margaret Firlotte of Jacquet River, wife of the late Lawrence Nicholas Firlotte, occured October 30, 2005, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, at the age of 90.

Born in Jacquet River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Guitard and Catherine Joncas. Margaret was a long time member of the St. Gabriel's Catholic Women's League and Durham Branch #77 Legion 's Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughters Veronica Aube (Alphonse) of Campbellton, Jeanette Belisle (Rheal) of Montreal, Corinne Firlotte of Jacquet River, Antoinette Shannon (Arnold) of Whitby, Ont., Sylvia Landry (Bobby) of Campbellton, son Camille of Brampton, Ont., 24 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters Lillian St. Germain, Doris Esliger, and brother Hector Guitard.

Her funeral service was held from St. Gabriel's Church in Jacquet River, on Friday, November 4, 2005, officiated by Father David Ferguson, with burial in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were GregBeers, Brian Beers, Eric Beers, Ken Shannon, Todd Shannon, Dennis Aube, Claude Aube, Dean Firlotte and Yvon Belisle. Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home Black Point.
