Alban Mazerolle

Alban Mazerolle of Dalhousie died at home December 4, 2005, at the age of 80.

Born in Portage River, he was the son of the late Alfred and Olive Richard.

He sang for hundreds of weddings & funerals and was a member of the church choir for 72 years, starting in the senior choir at age eight. He was very active in the community as past president of the Dalhousie food bank, past president of the Mazerolle Association. Current president of the Dalhousie Duplicate bridge club, he was an active campaigner for various charities including the Red Cross, Diabetes, and Cancer Associations. Alban was proud of his contributions to the Restigouche pastorate care program.

He is survived by his loving wife Inez (Hickey); and his children, Carmel Marshal (Jeff) Amherst Head, N.S., Janet Briaud (Jean-Louis) College Station, Texas, Dan (Katherine) Dartmouth, N.S., David St. John, N.B. Rae (Lynn) Dalhousie, N.B. and Paul (Carole) Dieppe, N.B. He was extremely proud of his children. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Mark Mazerolle, Natalie Pine, Elizabeth Mazerolle, Daniel Mazerolle, Patrick Briaud, Erin Mazerolle, Jennie-Anne Marshall, Louise MacLeod, Kelly Mazerolle, Megan Marshall, Carolyn Mazerolle and Marie-Pier Mazerolle and two great grandchildren Ryan and Mitchel Mazerolle. To these special people he was a participating grandfather and will be especially missed for his hugs, singing and cooking. He was predeceased by his brothers Leopold, Edgar, Aurele, Lionel, Elzear, Rheal, Antonio, Alderic as well as a sister Dorilla Seems. He is survived by his sisters Aline Goulette, Irene Davis and Annette Richard.

His funeral was held at St. John Bosco Church Dalhousie, Friday December 9, 2005, officiated by Father William Arseneault. Donations in memory of Alban can be made to the Irvin Hickey Scholarship fund or a charity of a donor's choice.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point.

David Allan Gillis

GILLIS, David Allan - 73, Dartmouth, died December 5, 2005. Born in Campbellton, N.B., he was a son of the late David A. and Viola (Craig) Gillis.

David served 25 years with the Royal Canadian Navy and was later employed with the Corps of Commissionaires. He was very active in the fields of addiction and mental health. He was a long-time member of St. James United Church. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Gillis; daughter, Heather-Anne, Dartmouth; son, Robert, Dieppe; sisters, Anne (Albert) Pearse, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.; stepsisters, Jean Connors, Atholville, N.B.; Georgie (Jim) Graham, North Bay, Ont.; Anne (David) Greene, Centreville, N.B.

He was the beloved uncle of Mary (Peter) LaPointe, Cambridge, Ont.; Harry ( Diana) Pearse, Kamloops, B.C.; David Pearse, Sudbury, Ont.; Kathlyn Pearse, Burlington, Ont. David will also be sadly missed by many great-nieces and great-nephews; goddaughters, Susan and Jennifer.

He was predeceased by sister, Peggy Gillis; stepfather, George Young; stepbrothers, Earl, Gray, Charles, Leland and Melborne Young. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Thursday, December 8, in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday, December 9, in St. James United Church, Rev. Glenn MacLean officiating.

Reception followed in the church hall. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.

Edouard LeBlanc

The death of Edouard LeBlanc of 30098 route 134, Dalhousie Junction, occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on December 5, 2005, at the age of 66.

Born in St. Arthur, N.B. on October 15, 1939, he was the son of the late Alfred LeBlanc and the late Augusta Bujold. Edouard work for a number of years as a Caretaker at Sugarloaf Provincial Park. Surviving is his wife Lucie LeBlanc (nee Gallant), daughters Rachelle (Alex Savoie) of Fort MacMurray, Alberta, Yvette LeBlanc of Campbellton, Murielle (Glen) MacKenzie of Dalhousie Junction, sons Rheal LeBlanc of Toronto, Gilles LeBlanc of Fort MacMurray, Alberta, Guy LeBlanc of Halifax, sister Jeannine Blaquiere of Atholville and brothers Alexandre LeBlanc of Atholville, Napoleon LeBlanc of Campbellton, Paul Emile LeBlanc of Campbellton and Pierre LeBlanc of Campbellton. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.

The funeral was held from Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Atholville on December 9, 2005, officiated by Father Morrison, with interment in Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish Cemetery in Tide Head. Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Marie Jeanne Paradis Bernard
May 2, 1945 - Nov 17, 2005

The family of the late Marie Jeanne Paradis Bernard would like to express their heartfelt thanks to family and friends for their kind visits to the funeral parlour, expressions of sympathy, mass cards, prayer offerings, donations to various charities, flowers, and the many donations of food. Former Dalhousie Mayor mourned
John Wallace (Wally) Coulombe

The death of John Wallace (Wally) Coulombe of Dalhousie, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on December 11, 2005, at the age of 74.

Born in Dalhousie on March 3, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph Coulombe and the late Georgina Barthe. He was mayor of Dalhousie from 1995 - 1998. Wally will be greatly missed by all who knew him in the Dalhousie and Campbellton areas.

Surviving is his son Jean-Guy and daughter-in-law Nicole of Ottawa, his sister Rose-Marie, two brothers George and Patrick, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Predeceasing him were his parents Joseph and Georgina and his loving wife Jeannine Gauvin Coulombe. Visitation was held at Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie on Tuesday, December 13, 2005. The funeral service will be held from St. John Bosco Church in Dalhousie today, Wednesday December 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Arseneault, with interment in St. John Bosco Cemetery. Donations can be made in his memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.

Muriel Court

The death of Mrs. Muriel Court of 190 Bellevue in Escuminac, Quebec, occurred at Residence St. Joseph in Maria, Quebec, on November 30, 2005, at the age of 96.

Born in Oak Bay, Quebec, July 25, 1909, she was the daughter of the late James Bryant and the late Ms. Young.

Surviving is her daughters Vivian Court of Escuminac, Evelyn Nichol of Escuminac, Betty Mahfoud of Kentville, N.S., her son Hary Court of Kentville, her grandchildren Randy Court, Tanya Court Lent, James Court, Gail Nichol, Daryl Nichol, Elton Nichol, Glenda Bryant, Gary Bryant, Lee Bryant, Judy Bryant, as well as 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceasing her was her husband Kenneth Court, and her sons Arnold Court and Lawrence Bryant. The funeral was held from Escuminac United Church on December 3, 2005, officiated by Rev. Wendell Gregan and Rev. Genevieve Trudel, with interment in the Escuminac Flats Cemetery. Pallbearers were Amon McKinnon, Serge LeBlanc, Ronnie Harper, Bradley Keays, Lee Cunnigham and Kirk LeMaitre. Funeral arrangements were placed in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Reta Berthelot

The death of Reta Berthelot of Campbellton, occurred on December 4, 2005, at the age of 80. Born in Glencoe, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Louis Arseneau and the late Elizabeth Murray. Reta loved playing auction 45 with her many friends and was also a member of the C.W.L.

Surviving is her husband Louis (Doc) Berthelot, her daughter Karla Berthelot (Ron Drysdale) of Bathurst, her sons David Berthelot (Joy Berthelot) of Campbellton and Stephen Berthelot (Amanda Daigle) of Belledune, her sisters Kay Henry (Cletus) of Dalhousie, Eva McNaughton of Dalhousie, Isabel Arseneau of Campbellton, her brother Charles Arseneau (Margaret Arseneau) of Glencoe. Also surviving are her grandchildren Keither and Christopher Drysdale, John David, Matthew and Sarah Berthelot.

Predeceasing were her parents Louis and Elizabeth, and her brothers Murray, Lawrence, Fred and Frank. The funeral was held December 7, 2005, from St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Pallbearers were Keither Drysdale, Christopher Drysdale, John David Berthelot, Matthew Berthelot, Michael McNaughton and Kevin McNaughton.
