John William Payne

John William Payne, age 56, of Fredericton, passed away peacefully from cancer on January 20, 2004. Born in Campbellton, he was the son of Mrs. Yvonne (Roy) Payne and the late Leo J. Payne.

John was a retired teacher, having taught in the Fredericton area. He was well respected and liked by his co-workers and students.

Survived by his wife, Susan (Sloan) Payne; his children Jennifer at home and Stephanie of Halifax, N.S.; his mother Mrs. Yvonne (Roy) Payne of Campbellton; two sisters, Paula Payne of St. John's, Nfld. And Maureen Gabinet (Gerry) of Edmonton, Alb, two brothers Roy Payne (Diane) of Placentia, Nfld. Bliss Payne of Campbellton, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Gary (1977) and his father Leo (1997).

Chesley Moody

The death of Chesley (Chester) Moody of Blackland, occurred January 22, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Dalhousie at the age of 69. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late William Moody and Mary Chamberlain. He is survived by his wife May; three sons Larry (Linda) of Blackland, Allen (Kim) of Dalhousie and Adam (Lucette) of Eel River Crossing; two daughters Karen Moody (Raymond) of Flatlands and Carolyn Moody (David) of Dalhousie Junction; and four grandchildren.

Helena Elsliger

The death of Helena Elsliger of Jacquet River occurred, Saturday, January 24, 2004, at the Dalhousie Nursing Home at the age of 79.

Born in Jacquet River, she was the daughter of the late William Elsliger and Julia Dempsey. She is survived her three sisters Ethel Charest (Allen) of Vancouver, Charlotte Pettigrew of Seaside, and Cynthia Allen (George) of Montreal; two brothers Arnold of Jacquet river, Donnie (Molly) of Jacquet River.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Viola, Geraldine, Alfreda, brothers Gerald, Austin and Alfred.

Marie Aline LeClair

The death of Marie Aline LeClair of Regina, Saskatchewan and formerly of Eel River Crossing, NB., occurred on January 22, 2004 at the age of 82.

Born on July 18, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred Levesque and the late Marie Louise Poirier.

She is survived by three sons, four daughters, five brothers and 2 sisters and their families. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Romeo LeClair.

Christina Olscamp

Christina Olscamp, 87, wife of the late Edward Olscamp, of Villa de Repos, Moncton, formerly of Campbellton, and Cap-Pelé passed away Friday, January 23, 2004, at the residence. Born on June 18, 1916, in Cross Point, she was the daughter of the late Honoré Laurence Boudreau, and the late Elizabeth Clavet. She was employed at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Campbellton before her retirement.

She is survived by a daughter, Mabel of Abbotsford, B.C., two sons: Raymond (Judy) of Calgary, Edward (Ann) of Middleton, N.S.; special daughter-in-law, Jeanne Olscamp, Dieppe, NB, 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by two sons; infant Edward, Edmund; a daughter Dina; sisters: Esther Eva, and a brother Allan.
